As a Nurse Educator I continue to be a lifelong learner. Staying up with current practices and the evolving changes in health care there will always be opportunities to learn and to grown both professionally and personally. “The competencies for nurse educators from the NLN website are listed in the beginning of each chapter. The role of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) in health care has been identified as a critical role in the goal to provide high-quality health care. Nursing is a profession that requires a unique skill set. A few of the traits include compassion, understanding and empathy. Clayton State University has a goal to produce competent, compassionate, professional nurses with communication and technical skills. Clayton State’s School of Nursing has outlined nine program outcomes or concepts that are part of the Conceptual Curriculum Model. These concepts include caring, communication, critical thinking, human diversity, informatics, interdisciplinary collaboration, nursing therapeutics, professional development, and theory based practice. These program outcomes relate to three nurse and client transitions; health-illness transitions, developmental transitions and organizational transitions. In health care, it is necessary to be knowledgeable and advanced in many areas in order to provide efficient care; these concepts are the foundation for a healthy nurse and client relationship.
My transition into the nursing profession was a major achievement for I am able to use my acquired skills to contribute to the community. As a bedside nurse and a staff member of a large medical establishment, I had to learn how to deliver care to a population that is very diverse. In order for that care to be effective, I must assume the roles of a counselor, therapist, educator, advocate and most of all as an interpersonal facilitator.

Our course, Transition to Professional Nursing, is barely two weeks old and already I am being enlightened and challenged to expand my experience of nursing. I will attempt to explain my personal journey and experience thus far including how and why I got here, my beliefs about nursing and related values, and my visions for the future.

As long as nursing continues to grow, there is no limit to the achievements that can be accomplished in the profession, for not only the individual patients, but also for the healthcare industry as a whole. Nurses must remember, that as they move forward, they will continue to break down barriers and stake their claim as a necessity in healthcare. Nurses must also hold tight to the teachings of their predecessors. The future of nursing holds great advances in healthcare and technology innovation; but, most importantly, the future of nursing needs to be saturated with nurses that are willing to put their heart and soul into healing the human spirit. The future of nursing must bring with it the teachings of the past, while providing their patients with the most qualified nursing care.
The nurse in today's society provides different services to the healthcare community. Stress is an ongoing occurrence when dealing with patients, with co-workers, and even with the procedures themselves.
