Why I Have Chosen the Teaching Profession
When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be “turning the key” for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life. I have worked in so many jobs in so many areas but nothing was fulfilling my life with any amount of meaning. I found myself not wanting to go back the next day or wishing I were somewhere else. Well I guess everyone does that is what I would tell myself.
Until a couple years ago when I was working and living in Las Vegas. It was there that I finally realized what I had been searching for in my life. I was spending a lot of time with a co-worker who had children in the school system. I vividly remember hearing her children say “the teacher’s don’t care.” This was shocking for a child who was in the fourth grade to be saying to me. I guess because I had a great experience in school with wonderful caring teachers. My memories of school are a little blurred with age but I do remember looking up to them as role models. Especially, my eighth grade English teacher who was the first person who ever told me that I was a beautiful writer. She encouraged me to continue to learn as much as I could about becoming a good writer. I still see her from time to time and she asks if I am still writing. I always say yes, but the last time I saw her, I got the chance to te...
For almost a quarter century Billy Sunday was a household name in the United States. Between 1902 when he first made the pages of the New York Times and 1935 when the paper covered his death and memorial service in detail, people who knew anything about current events had heard of the former major league baseball player who was preaching sin and salvation to large crowds all over America. Not everyone who knew of the famous evangelist liked him. Plenty of outspoken critics spoke of his flashy style and criticized his conservative doctrines. But he had hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of loyal defenders, and they were just as loud in their praise as the critics were in their criticism.
Grant Wacker’s biography America’s Pastor is a superb breakdown of the many aspects of the life of Billy Graham. Unlike other biographies, Wacker examines the world-renowned evangelist from the perspective of Graham’s multiple individualities. In his book, Wacker looks at Graham as a preacher, icon, southerner, entrepreneur, architect, pilgrim, pastor, and patriarch. It is through these distinctions that the author provides the reader with a purpose for his writing. As an explanation of some of his selected points of view, Wacker writes: “As ‘Preacher,’ he articulated a traditional evangelical theology but presented it in increasingly appealing ways…As ‘Entrepreneur,’ he built from the ground up a crusade structure and organization of remarkable
Plate tectonics is a unifying theory that the earth’s crust is divided into over dozen plates that float over the mantle; a layer between the crust and the outer core, that represents about 85% of the total
In 1912, Alfred Wegener, a German scientist, was the first to notice this and develop the theory of plate tectonics. He noticed that the earth’s continents fit together almost like a jigsaw puzzle. This, combined with the fact that similar fossils and rock types are found on different continents separated by large bodies of water, helped him formulate his conjecture. He contended that the plates at one point formed one large continent called Pangea, which allowed like fossils and rock types to become closer together, which broke apart. Despite how well the continents fit together and the facts about the geology, the general public would not accept Wagener’s proposal. This is largely due to religious conflicts and the lack of evidence presented to them.
These people had influenced the world in extreme ways. Through their actions, some persuaded their countries to change the official religion while others created an entirely new denomination of Christianity that eventually gained a world wide following. This is evidence that you can change the world and its people when you confidently stand by your beliefs and won’t stand down when people try to tell you are wrong.

To begin out of the countless professions one has to chose from in the world today I have chosen to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of some whom I consider to be the best teachers in the world. As a child in North Carolina I was inspired by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Hollyfield. Mrs. Hollyfield taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. Mrs. Hollyfield inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. As I have grown I have had other important teachers, some whom I am surrounded by daily whom inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people in my life have led me to the decision of becoming a teacher.
“I wanted to become a teacher to be able to make a positive difference on the future of children. For me, it is fulfilling challenge, stimulating the next generation to become lifelong learners. I have always been grateful to my mom (who is a retired teacher) for implanting values in me. I feel I should contribute what I have learned and experienced over the years. This way I will be paying back and at the same time can fulfill my desire of enhancing the education system.”
I have not always wanted to be a teacher. I always knew that I wanted to work with children in some way, but I was pretty sure that teaching was not for me. I was well on my way in my junior year of college working toward a biology degree so that I could become a pediatric physician’s assistant. I still cannot explain what happened, but one week I was a biology major, and the next I knew that I have always been meant to teach children. I suppose I just took the longer route to get there than most people do. The two main reasons that I have chosen to become a teacher is that I believe that teaching is extremely personally rewarding in many ways and the fact that I can actively make a difference in someone’s life.
Serena gently held Ric's hand, yet she focused on Guy, as did Ric, their eyes, both locked on Guy's pained expression.
I am a hard-working, confident and conscientious and have a keen desire to be a primary school teacher. The main reason I want to pursue this vocation is because I love the prospect of working with children, being such an important part of a child’s life is a real honour. I have been fascinated at how quickly they learn things, gaining an insight into their perceptions and how they see the world, the idea of playing an active role in helping them develop, greatly appeals me. Having a long term goal of working with children, I believe I am particularly suited to a degree in Primary/Physical education. I gain huge satisfaction from being able to help them learn and discover new things about the world. Nurturing a child’s development is an occupation that offers huge satisfaction, both intellectual and emotional. My ambition is to be in charge of a classroom, to introduce ideas and skills to the class and observe and feel their response. The teacher’s skills of good communication, patience, clarity and the ability to explain the world are very demanding of one’s intelligence and one’s p...
There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
The third role of the school resource center is to provide research opportunities for senior students. The library provides technology that is accessible to the students. They often use the technology to search for information. Library can provide research opportunities for the senior students when the teachers and librarians collaborate. Teachers will give any project or assignment to the senior students that require them to do a research. They must make sure that the questions given must make the students to go beyond searching simple answers. This will encourage the students to go to the library to find the related information. This can be done using the technology that enables them to access the computerized databases and search for the relevant research information. The librarians will assist the students in search strategies or information seeking skills by using the Boolean operators and truncation, using suitable keywords and controlled vocabulary when searching for information in the databases, using the thesaurus and more. Not only that, the librarians will also help them in answering their complex research questions, note taking, give suggestions of where to look and gather for the information that they need such as giving them a list of websites that are useful for their research, evaluating the information whether it is relevant, accurate or suitable, and how to organize their findings. Once they got the answers, they can apply them to their research project or assignment. This proves that the library provides research opportunities for the senior students through the availability of its resources and with the help of the librarians. Besides that, with this research opportunity, it will motivate the students and will ...
I am so excited about one day teaching our children. My goal is to be a positive influence on a child and I cannot imagine anything more important to do with my life than helping children. A quote from Herbert Kohl sums up my feelings of becoming an educator: “I believe the impulse to teach is fundamentally altruistic and represents a desire to share what you value and to empower others. I am not talking about the job of teaching so much as the calling to teach. Most teachers I know have felt that calling at some time in their lives.” My dream is to someday soon fulfill my calling.
