Teachers of today’s classrooms have been using various ways of technology to teach, help, and aid their students in learning whether it’s by using phones, computers, Internet, etc. How have the advancements of modern technology in the classrooms of today affected the way students think and learn? Technology has been advancing rapidly over the last few decades, and it has been impacting the entire world and even the educational systems. Today’s technology use is changing and affecting the way that students learn in school in a positive manner. The power of the Internet is giving students a quick way of finding information, new technological tools for the students to develop their learning skills, and increasing students’ motivation while developing their problem-solving skills. These three benefits will demonstrate evidence to why technology is influencing students in a good way.
The Internet introduces a vast amount of information generated in a quick manner. This amount of information provides students with a multitude of choices to look at which helps them with decision making and developing their researching skills. Many teachers also believe that Internet usage has a strong impact on how students learn. This was demonstrated in a survey conducted by The Pew Research Center that surveyed 2,462 teachers to determine their opinion as to whether or not they think Internet usage impacts students’ learning. The final results were that 75% of the teachers surveyed believe that the internet had a positive impact on the student’s research skills (The New York Times). They also were of the opinion that the internet helped students become more self-sufficient researchers. This evidences why many teachers and scholars believe that th...

... spans (The New York Times). However, researchers who have studied the effects of media on society have shown no long-term studies proving that student attention spans have changed because of the use of digital technology. All of these examples of technology use in the classroom show that the advancements of modern day technology affect the students in a positive manner.
The benefits of technology are improving student’s study skills and ways to learn in today’s classrooms. The power of the internet is giving students a quick way of finding information so that they don’t lose interest or focus in their assignment. Technology also helps to develop the student’s research and problem solving skills. While there are some ups and downs to technology, the overall positive impact that technology brings to the classrooms far outweighs any of the negative consequences.
An example of Mokhtari’s idea is shown here; some people also cannot immediately restate what the might have just read, indicating our attention is elsewhere almost constantly. Another finding states that people who spend long amounts of time on the internet spend less time socializing with friends and family members. However, there is a contradiction to this, studies have also found that people use the internet to finish tasks quickly and free up time to spend on other activities. This contradiction, or the “displacement hypothesis” may play a part in how the study of college students goes. Very few studies have been done to address the issue of how media affects reading habits affects college-aged students.
Although the Internet has increased how much we read, it has deteriorated our concentration level. We are no longer able to read long passages and stay interested. We have resorted to skimming or finding a shorter version. It has also affected our ability to take an analytical approach to what we read. We no longer go beyond comprehending the information we take in.

Some say that technology is a distraction and hinders the students from fully learning and developing important skills that they claim only the interactions with the teacher can provide. Teachers have said that technology is a powerful tool that allows them to introduce and demonstrate learning activities in a completely new way. It has been studied and proven that most kids are more motivated and interested in the concepts they are supposed to learn when the teaching tool of technology is used. A fifth grade teacher stated, “Technology is the ultimate carrot for students. It's somet...
Image a school with laptops available to each student to complete their class notes, teachers who are able to help their students through the screens of their computer, children who are excited to learn about numbers with the help of cute, animated characters. With the endless advancement of today’s technology, schools across the world have begun integrating various technology into their curriculum. These devices have the potential to greatly impact students in their learning. When a school opts to use technology in a school setting, the most important factors they should take into consideration are the benefits of using technological devices, the effectiveness of technology used
Students in the classroom today represent the first generation to grow up with new technology surrounding them since they were born. It has become common to see children from an early age learn how to use computers, smart phones, video games and other advanced digital tools. The use of the Internet, computer games, and instant messaging has become parts of students every day life. It is an obvious result that today’s students think and process information differently. My generation is considered the last pre-digital generation. As a future educator who will be teaching the 1st generation of digital natives I fear that there are many concerns about preparing students for life and the work environment. This paper examines how the technology available to students has changed the way in which they learn. In addition, I would like to look at the profound implications technology has on student education. I’m curious to find out if the technology available today is helping students le...
Furthermore, the learning process is easily enhanced when technology is used. First, with Internet access in each classroom, it allows the teacher to access massive amounts of information in just a few seconds. This information can be given to the students in a clear, easy to read format as it is projected onto the screen. With such easy access to information, students are able to learn more in a smaller time span, while teachers are able to be more efficient in how they teach. This makes the education a person gets from their school more valuable for their money; and money is important as college costs continue to rise.
In less than a decade, computer use progressed from programming classes for a few of the better students, to literacy classes for all students, to the integration of computers and technology into the curriculum. Now, there is a goal for educators to use technology as a tool in efforts to teach more effectively by using a variety of strategies to meet different needs in a diverse classroom. This will take training and commitment to keep up in an area that changes quickly, but the benefits to teachers and students are greater that the effort it will take to stay informed; computers increase productivity of students and make learning a fun experience. They help students become better problem-solvers instead of just rote learners.
Technology properly used in the classroom has many advantages to a student’s learning. Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011). Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom. When technology is used correctly it offers limitless resources to a classroom atmosphere.
Even using the internet has a source of information for the students or has a tutorial for students who are struggling. There are so many ways that classrooms can benefit from computers. The first thing I looked at was how teachers were being affected by computers. Integrating technology into your teaching can change the way you deliver content to your classes. Not only are teachers affected by having to do grades and attendance by computers now, they also have to worry about teaching their students about computers and integrating it into the daily lesson plans.
In conclusion, technology has changed education for the better allowing access to unlimited resources, distance learning and broadening the means of communication. Technology creates a more encouraging environment and stimulates students to engage in something they may be familiar with. Technology has allowed people to know more and to collaborate with each other. Students have a great range of technologies which strengthens the relationship between knowledge and students. The technology used today throughout the world will only strengthen and advance the 21st century education system. With unlimited resources, students can take advantage of their learning and gain the most from it. Integrating technology into education promotes a better learning community.
The first explanation for the efficiency of teacher training in using technology in classrooms to students lies on the effective influence of computer science on students’ motivation and improvement. It is said that in the last century, despite the rapid invasion of technology into human life and a huge of money spent on instructional technology in schools, there is no significant improvement in education has been witnessed (Zhao and Frank, 2003, p. 807-840). However, researchers have uncovered the myths of such phenomenon and asserted that technology, on the other hand, has a great impact on students and teacher performance in schools worldwide. As Mundy et al. (2012) points out thanks to the introduction of technology in the classroom, never have before students’ skills as wel...
Modern technology has made it so much easier to obtain educational information for classroom or homework assignments. It offers educational games that stimulate the brain and help children who have difficulties focusing on traditional teaching and learning procedures. College students are even taking advantage of online courses that many colleges are offering as an alternative to physically attending classes. Advances in technology and computers will continue to play an important role in education for many generations to come.
Technology has many different effects on education, one of them being enhancing the students learning. Technology may enhance the students learning and may assist most students in achieving their academic standards. When technology and appropriate teaching methods are combined, technology may increase the academic achievement. Positive effects have been found in all major subject areas, from preschool to higher education, both regular and special needs students. Educational technology has been found to have a positive effect on a student’s attitude toward learning and on self-concepts. The introduction of technology into the learning environment has allowed the learning to be more student-centered, to encourage group learning, and helps to stimulate an increase in the student-teacher interaction. Technology has shown a shift from a focus on a student’s memorization to their problem solving. Through technology’s use, learning opportunities have become unrestricted by time or place, allowing lifelong learning. Student use of technology through communications can also help to enhance access to a career and continued education. Students are more likely to use a computer to get help because they can to it themselves. Technology is helping students to become independent.
students prefer technology because they believe that it makes learning more interesting and fun. They especially like laptops and tablets. Subjects that students deem challenging or boring can become more interesting with virtual lessons, through a video, or when using a tablet. Technology occupies an important place within students’ lives. When they are not in school, just about everything that they do is connected in some way to technology. By integrating technology into the classroom, teachers are changing the way they used to teach (lectures six hours a day) and providing students with the tools that will take them into the 21st century. One of the characteristics of the modern classroom is collaboration and technology helps to empower it. With classroom technology students can collaborate with other students and their teachers in and outside of the classroom quickly and easily.
