The mission of our JROTC is to motivate young people to be better citizens. How does it make young people to be better citizens? This class helps young people to be mature and get ready for their upcoming future. This class helps them learn about how to budget their money better than if they did not have this class. This class helps them with map reading which could come in handy if they get lost somewhere or could help someone with the map.
This class helps with the upcoming lives of young people. It helps them to get mature enough so when they get out of highschool they do not have much growing up to do. As in like going to college they can not fool around as much as they do in high school. If they do then they will probably
in up in big trouble to where they can not go to that same college. You are not suppose to act up your teenage years are the best years of your life enjoy it while you can. Other way to help young people to be better citizen with this class is budget their money right. This class has a whole class that teaches how to budget your money very good. What happens when they run out of money because they don not know to budget it? They run out of money in the bank and they do not know they did that means they have negative something dollars. Sometimes that leads to bankrupt if you do not pay their money back. This class also helps with map reading skills. What if they do not know how to read a map and they are in the middle of nowhere? They have the map in their hand but do not know how to use it. Which means they are lost and can not find their way home. If they know how to use it they can help someone else get to where they need to be. I would definitely someone to be in this class because of what they teach in here because it will help them later on in life and help them be a better person. This causes each student to be treated the same, which eliminates the opportunity for them to become unique individuals. As a result, each student’s potential to develop an opinion and change society for the better is removed. The significance of teaching to individuals rather than the class is further described and supported by David S. Broder. In the article “A Model for High Schools,” Broder explains that “the challenge of a tough curriculum, backed by skillful teaching in small classes and plenty of personal counseling, can be a path to success” even for high school dropouts. By using an individualistic approach, “the [Gateway to College program] has been judged a success.
... Reestablishing community goals and encouraging youths to engage in extracurricular activities will greatly improve outlooks on life and help them make the right choices for a better tomorrow.
Throughout my experience with JROTC, one of my skills have definitely increased in some areas. One of these areas is time management. Time management is important because it helps you manage your time from work, to school, and to your personal life. I think I increased my time management from making goals on when I am going to do something. An example is, when I have homework due but I have to do chores or something else, I put aside things that aren’t important. Whenever something comes up unexpected, I mentally put a plan in my head that tells me what time I should finish things and start things. The areas that I need to improve in are Sales Orientation and Commitment Ethic. To improve on Sales Orientation, I would need to work on social
Students engage in experimental learning and activities that take ideas to help solve real-life problems. Taking the basic classes allow college grads to be better critical thinkers and problem solvers.
...cle was involved with her class. It makes the learning process fun and exciting for the students. The teachers make all the difference in the world. A student can learn memorize anything that a teacher lectures on. But the information is only stored temporally. If you make it fun and exciting the student not only learns but the memory lasts a life time.
JROTC has been a huge impact in my life believe it or not. It has taught me to be strong ,stand up for myself and take charge. Just last year I was a company commander., little me being the big boss. Many people might of not like that idea of me in charge but as hard as it was I am grateful I had that chance to experience when I did. I learned no one can pull you down but yourself. I myself got out of my shell. I can talk to people more openly and not be scared. I think I speak louder too. The biggest experience I can say JRTOC gave me would be jclc. I met some of the best people there. Even though I might not talk to them anymore I wish them nothing but the best. It is always sad to see friend leave but that’s part of life and in life the only thing you learn is to let them go and take care of yourself. They treated me like a family and cared for me as one too and that is something I will never forget. JROTC is more than just a class. It actually helps you in life. For me it did mentally physically and emotionally.
Because of this club experience, students will be better college candidates due to their leadership skills. Future success will be a topic we discuss, especially through application of skills we educate. Our focus is not service or diversity, rather educating students with the necessary skills to make a difference and be successful during and after high school.
...eat of high school, potentially detrimental to a student’s study plan, and a waste of money and time.
Taking seemingly unrelated classes present great opportunities to learn and surpass what ever limits, goals, or expectations of education a person sets for himself. Taking these classes lead to a better understanding and outlook of different ideas, ways of thinking as well as situations in the work field and in life. Being required to participate in courses outside of one's major can really develop a person and help them better understand themselves and the world around them. Taking extra classes in college would inevitably help an individual in the future regardless if he or she believes it is of no advantage at the moment. It can also increase employment opportunities once a student finishes college.
This prevents them from taking classes that aren’t necessary for them. It is good for the students to know that college classes are not easy. They have to also know that their instructors will not consider them as high school students because most of the instructors will not even know which students are still in high School. They treat every student attending their classes equally. Students in this program are not prohibited from taking high school courses. However, courses like Precalculus, American history, Chemistry, and Biology are just taken in college instead of taking them in high school in order to earn credits on both sides.
I want to be a better person, and it is because of this class that I was finally able to figure out how to go about doing just that. I know how to learn. I know that if I am going to learn in an effective manner I have to do things hands on. I have learned that my way isn’t always the best way. When it comes to solving a problem, I have to be open and willing to actually hearing the other side of the situation instead of plotting my defense in my head. I have learned that thinking critically isn’t something that is learned and mastered overnight. To apply critical thinking effectively I have to be able to be aware and practice the steps every single time. After I graduate and walk away with my Bachelor’s Degree, I want my success to continue. I want to be able to take what I have learned and apply it to my Project Manager career. For me, Academic Success will not end when that diploma is in my hand. As long as I have goals and strive to reach and set new goals, academic success will forever be in my
It teaches students to spend their money wisely and responsibly, which will show us not to spend money on things that we don’t actually need. It also teaches us that in the real world we can’t just ask for something and expect that somebody is just going to give it to you without giving anything in return. In addition, it teaches students not to be spoiled with everything they want, because that is how it’s going to be when we get jobs.
Overall, this has been one of my favorite classes in that I can work at my own pace, make my own deadlines (besides the due dates), and communicate with others in ways I had never done before. I am more of a hands on, face to face, confrontation kind of student,
...k about issues outside our box, and this creates knowledge. If people are aware of the issues around them, they are more likely to care and show compassion to each other, this can only lead to a stronger society. Although classes will take time and effort, they will improve people’s overall decision making, leading to a less stressful and more positive life. We should all start thinking critically now; we need to be open to the idea of making it a law to take classes to make our lives healthier, and our world a better place.
...e able to manage their own time no matter how complicated their schedule is. The random class also helps the students to know their colleague better because they meet new people in different classes.
