Honestly, coming into this class, I had no idea what to expect. I have never been in a sports management class, and honestly don’t know much about sports with the exception of baseball. All I knew coming into this class is that it was online, which was a benefit to me as in I’m a better learner when I get to work at my own pace. However, when I read the syllabus and figured out that this class would be mainly writing proposals on different topics, it began to worry me. The last time I had written an essay was my senior year of high school, so I knew I’d have to bring out some of the old knowledge to be able to write a quality paper again. Even though writing papers is a dislike of mine, these proposals turned out to be a good experience …show more content…
For the first two papers, my group communicated via groupme to brainstorm different ideas, assign different tasks, and bring the group back in to proofread and go back over what we had created. As far as the proposal topics go, I honestly did not know much about FIFA, the NFL or the IOC. Writing these papers made me research each organization and realize what they stand for and how they operate to promote growth and success for their organization to the public and the business world. The proposals were papers I had never written before, so they forced me to come out of my comfort zone and try something new when writing papers. I also liked that all the guidelines, dates, and rubrics were all laid out nicely in the syllabus for us, and I found all the answers to my questions with ease on ecampus. Overall, this class had a lot going for it and is well structured, and I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to put in some hard work and be able to drive themselves to be patient and learn something …show more content…
For example, if a sample paper was given, it would show us what to expect and how it should look like. Another solution to this would be a required date to turn in a rough draft for the TA’s to look at to see if we are on the right track. I know the TA’s are busy with their own day to day activities, but turning in and getting a rough draft checked would make sure we are going towards the right direction and writing our papers the correct way. Like I said before, to fix the group issues, I think a different group per paper would be nice to mix up the ideas and require us to communicate with new people. As far as the number of assignments go, more grades would keep us more engaged in the class. Say if we had one quiz per week, it would force us to research a little more and dig a little deeper when researching these organizations, which would help us grasp more information when writing the proposals in my opinion. It would also make us have more grades in the gradebook which could help balance out the proposals if we did not do as good as we would of liked on them. Overall, this has been one of my favorite classes in that I can work at my own pace, make my own deadlines (besides the due dates), and communicate with others in ways I had never done before. I am more of a hands on, face to face, confrontation kind of student,
On average 35 million children play youth sports each season and 85% of coaches are parents coaching their own kids. Whether basketball, soccer, baseball, or softball; furthermore, involves players, parents, referees, and a ball; additionally, if it is played as a game, in a tournament, is practiced, it will require a coach. This single figurehead will often be the deciding factor as to the level of satisfaction everyone involved receives from the experience. Coaching youth sports can be a balancing act between developing good players and cultivating great kids.
This class was far more intense than what I expected but I was able to make it through the semester. I learned a lot from this class that I will carry into the future and use in other classes. All of the revision and feedback I have received during the time in the class helped me in the end. I feel like I am gradually becoming a better writer. I will take everything that I have learned in this class and use it for future reference when writing papers. I overall have enjoyed this class this semester.
INTRODUCTION Racial diversification has become one of the many objectives of several sport organizations throughout the world. In New Zealand for instance, we have many parks, sports clubs, and recreations that are accessible to everybody, regardless of their ethnicity. However, on the other side of the spectrum, there are a few sports organizations in New Zealand, which only allows certain ethnic groups to be a part of it. In other words, racial discrimination remains as a plague in the sporting institution (Armstrong, 2011).
When looking at not just this class but all of my classes and looking at how I have been approaching them versus how I should approach them it definitely puts my mind in a different perspective because I am a person that “strives for excellence” and if I am able to “ace” a class then I definitely try and do that but a lot of the time that doesn’t mean sitting there and actually learning the information it means
This course was the first course I took as an incoming freshman, as anyone could imagine I was scared and nervous at the same time. Also since it is a writing course; I was hesitant if I wanted to continue in the class because writing is very challenging for me as an immigrant. Returning from summer break, I found it extremely tough to continue where I left off with my writing skills from high school. The fear of writing that my old high school teacher instilled in me did not help my writing anxiety either. In contrast, I found that the professor and the course were not at all intimidating as I assumed, the professor took time from his busy schedule to help his students to further improve their writing and the writing topics were very stimulating and thought provoking. Composition 1 has helped me learn more about myself and my writing skills, which allowed me to further self-evaluate myself, find where I need improvement and become motivated to change.
When I started this class I thought I was somewhat alright writer. I understood the basics of writing and believed I knew how to write an entertaining piece. All of the papers we wrote showed me one of my weaknesses as a writer.
Sports have been around for thousands of years. The history of sports in United States began back in the 1840s. United States is a very unique country when we look at its sports, just like every country has a different structure of sports so does US. This paper will be taking about the Sports Organizations and Governance, the sports industry, sports organizations, and Structure of sports in the United States. It will also cover the Sport in the United States vs. Other Western Democracies by taking a look at the State Political, historical context, team objectives, and sports organizations. It will also cover the uniqueness of American sport as well as cover the mass participation and give recommendations on how to increase participation and success.
Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. It is for these reasons schools should strive to maintain athletic programs for their students.
Sports psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise and physical activity. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals use exercise and sports to enhance people’s lives and well-being. While finding ways to help athletes is certainly an important part of sports psychology, the application of exercise and physical activity for improving the lives of non-athletes is also a major focus.
I am not the kind of person who talks or writes much. Putting my thoughts on papers is something I have always struggled with doing. I believe this class will help me improve on transferring my thoughts to paper, in an organized fashion. I look forward to becoming a better writer because of this class.
Although rigorous, I feel like these classes bring good preparation for college. I have seen myself grow in terms of being able to handle these classes. This is not to say that these courses were lenient, because
When I first signed up for this class, I thought that it would be easy since it was a summer course. This was somewhat the case. The class overall was not hard but there was a lot of assignments to keep up with. When I first started my summer courses I had trouble managing my time and completing my assignments in a reasonable time. As the semester came to an end, I believe that I have grown in terms of time management. I still procrastinate sometimes on little things but not as much as I did in the beginning. I am happy that I learned so many great writing tips so early on in my college career so that it can help me further down the road.
Overall, I have learned a lot from this class. I must say there are topics that I am still confused about but only because I am just know understanding life from a different perspective. I am more open to now ask questions about things that I am not used to or even brought up around. For example, sexual libertarianism has views that sex is one of woman greatest power while I was thought that the vagina is one of women greatest power. I guess they both work together in sense of showing that women have a lot of
During the semester, I learned a lot on how to deal with psychological distress and how as an athletic trainer I should deal with athletes to overcome their situation and be there for them. Throughout my time as an athletic training student, I always liked to observe my preceptors on how they deal with athletics that are having psychological distress after injuries, and how as an athletic trainer I should handle these situations in a professional manner. There is one situation in particular that occurred during the King’s College football season that I would like to discuss.
The class seems to go really fast. I like the way we can say and write the way we feel about the subject matter. Having the Internet access is also a plus just for the fact that we can look up information on topics and write about it.
