Introduction This assignment is to understand the impact of time management and causes of stress in the workplace; I will be identifying symptoms and behaviours and the impact it may have internally and externally. It will explain how to use effective time management and to achieve team goals and have the ability to recognise and manage stress. know how to use effective personal time management to achieve team goals. • I believe in the importance of effective time management because time is limited so it’s important I make the most of it, without this my day would go out of control and I wouldn’t be able to finish the important tasks I had planned to do which would lead to me being stressed. • My strengths are I plan my days with military precision and also allow time for those unexpected interruptions or emergencies, I will usually use the 4 D practise if I am interrupted with something important, then I will decide if I can delete, delegate, defer or do it. I prioritise all my tasks for the day so I know I will not fail any deadlines I may have, If I fail on my deadlines this will have an impact externally and internally. Internally will mean I will be behind on any other work I may have which would lead to me having to rush to catch up and potentially fail and externally would have an impact on the customer as this would show incompetency and they may lose faith in us as a company. • Having created a survey for my staff members it became apparent that not many people planned their day which would lead to no structure and then panicking at the end of the day that some tasks weren’t completed on time so I have set two smart objectives for the team, this would have to be specific, measureable, achievable, realistic ... ... middle of paper ... ...NO’ when asked to take on more responsibilities or extra work, but be able to explain why Work regular hours and take breaks that you are entitled too. Use the 4 D model to prioritise your workload Ask for help rather than suffer in silence Plan your day Maintain a healthy work/home balance Breathing exercises and meditation Regular chats with your manager. • There are many sources of support available to help with stress either in the workplace or elsewhere these can include things like Occupational health, Family and friends, Doctors, managers, HR, NHS helpline, work colleague, Unions and social support networks. Everyone is different on how they deal with stress and may find comfort in either just speaking to family or going to their GP but the main thing would be for them to identify they are suffering from stress before they can seek help.
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
Stress by definition is an interaction between individuals and any source of demand (stressor) within their environment. Employment can be an exciting challenge for many individuals; it can also be a tremendous source of stress. (Long, Bonita C.) Stress in the work place can cause many individuals harm emotionally and physically. Several reasons for the intense amounts of stress are; too many demands from co-workers, supervisors constantly breathing down your back, elevated noise levels in the work place, lack of knowledge for a particular position, co-workers not upholding their responsibility to help with the task at hand, and favoritism. Lack of promotional opportunities at your place of employment, in spite of the fact that you go that extra mile will contribute to stress.

STRENGTHS. My knowledge and skills. As one of the requirements to move a business forward, I am able to balance priorities and coordinating work efficiently. This was demonstrated when I had two important appointments at the same time, because of their importance, I thought about the long term prospect and advantages of the two appointments and delegated someone capable to represent me. But before then, one of them was informed of my absence and someone else went for the appointment. I do listen well, give thought about issues, seek advice if need be before taking a decision. I am also able to stay calm under pressure. This happens where I have highly demanding works to be covered to...
In this essay it is my intention to show how stress appears in working environment, what causes it and how it affects the workplace. I will start by defining what stress is and how it might be perceived. Then I will take a look at the factors that cause stress and how these might show in result when working. I try to look at all the possible reasons for stress and through that hopefully to show how to avoid a stressful environment. I will not try to put straight answers on to paper, but to think why workers might be stressed, and how this affects the organisation instead of just saying that things are like that because they just are.
...s reduce cases of burnout. Stress interventions are also good in reduction of physiological and psychological stress. Individual aspects such as appraisal- based coping strategies that involve an individual interpretation of those things that are or are not stress inducers. Problem-based coping that allows an individual focus on the cause of stress thus a reduction in stress levels. Social support is also necessary and it entails creation of an organizationally supportive environment and ensuring that the workers have a supportive work environment that they can counter the negative effects of stress and burnout.

You often think that everything boils down to deadlines. If only the tick of the clock is much slower and if deadlines don’t exist, everything would be much easier. Sometimes you blame your failures to somebody or to a circumstance where in fact, the real problem is just the way you perceive stress.
Stress management is a contemporary issue that presents itself in the social work profession. Merriam-Webster (1828) defines stress as a state of mental tension that can cause an emotional state of anxiety and burden that is caused by problems from different areas in an individual’s life. Based on the literature and research presented on the topic of stress, the scientific definition of stress is more difficult to define. Scientists at the American Institute of Stress (AIS, 2016) explains that stress is a difficult subject to define due to it being a highly subjective phenomenon that everyone experiences differently. Over several decades ago, scientists were so confused on this topic that in 1951 a British Medical Journal finally concluded

In order to find a solution to the issue of stress in the workplace, it is important to first understand what stress is. Stress is a difficult issue to solve because everyone experiences stress differently. When workers begin to struggle in their jobs and feel like they cannot keep up with tasks, they may begin to experience stress. “Stress in the workplace can be defined as the harmful physical and emotional responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the capacities of the worker” (Stress 2). Everyone works at a different pace, and sometimes workers could feel like they cannot keep up with the tasks they need to complete or at least not at the time it is to be done. Not only does job stress have to with workers’ capacities but it also includes environmental situations (Pollack 45).
