You haven't been at work for more then twenty minutes and already your day is going down hill. Your phone is ringing off the hook. Papers piled on your desk , and now you have to attend a meeting. Day after day it is the same thing at your job and you have become highly stressed out. In my paper I am going to explain why job stress happens and ways that you can relieve it.
One type of stress is job stress. Job stress is when the stressors involved are work related. "NIOSH" the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health states, job stress is the harmful physical and emotional responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker. There are many things in life that cause stress and working a job is just one of them. Although it is one kind of stress it is a major factor in people's everyday life. The first thing that can cause is overwork. This includes working late, taking work home, and not taking vacation time. Some ways to cope with over working and taking home work are to prioritize your work for that week. Even though it seems like everything is due at once, chances are that's not the case. Figure out the hardest and most important tasks and put them first. This way most of your energy is focused on the most important thing. Then work your way down to the easiest task. If you know that you have a lot of work to do in a one week period try to schedule the greatest amount of work in the middle of the week. On Monday's people tend to be tired and Friday's people are anxious for the weekend to start. Also to minimize your chances of taking work home set goals and strive to achieve them. Instead of sitting at your desk and complaining, turn the situation into a positive experience. The next time the pressures of work have you all stressed out, take some time to make a decision to not let the situation that is happening get the best of you. To help relieve the stress at your job calmly respond to each matter at hand individually. Concentrate on finish one assignment at a time instead of losing focus and juggling all of them at once. In my personal experience, I have often become stress and burned out due to fulfilling numerous job task at work. The leaders and administrators at my job have so many responsibilities it is hard to keep up with individual stressors. Job ranges can lead to overworked employees and stress. In my experience of being stressed out at work due to having too many tasks to complete a job, I often prioritize and finish the assignment that is needed first. Administrators and Principals try to help or lighten the load by hiring new employees and equally distributing the tasks, the problem seem to occur each year due to change of leaders at the school.

Addressing job stress is not only the responsibility of the organization. Individuals must also share the responsibility for dealing with stress that is affecting them. During this course I learned many stress management techniques. One of the first stress management techniques I learned was creating a list of things to do in order of importance. Employees are harmed emotionally and physically by workplace stress. There are two factors of stress in the workplace which are internal and external. When you are relaxing at home, just forget the problems at work. This is the only time you have to relax and being peaceful. Lastly, stress always brings negative attitude and affects your health, so relax as long as you can.
Your mind has the greatest influence towards stress so when you learn how to change your expectations and attitude towards pressuring situations, you can defeat stress easily. Stay positive. When you are caught in a bad traffic, don’t you think it’s a good time to listen to your favorite music?
