I am very excited to be applying for the Supervisory Staff Administrator (SSA) position supporting the 327th Quartermaster Battalion. Throughout the last eight years, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of positions within the U.S. Army Reserve and Department of Defense that have prepared me for this potential assignment. As a Human Resource NCO, Unit Administrator, and Staff Administrative Assistant, I have provided administrative, medical, and pay support for the S-1. In my current assignment as the Staff Operations and Training Specialist, I have provided support as the Physical Security Officer and Security Manager for the S-2, Training and Operations support for the S-3, purchasing support utilizing the Government Purchasing Card for the S-4, and ADT and ADA budgeting/reporting for the S-8. Lastly, I have supported the Battalion’s S-6 by leveraging my personal experiences as a systems administrator, providing direct technical support by imaging workstations and assisting co-workers with computer issues. My far-reaching work experience has allowed me to become …show more content…
The Funeral Honors Coordinator here at the Battalion receives a constant stream of honors requests on a daily basis. These funerals are often outsourced to other units and/or veterans from the area. To me, this has always seemed like a wasted opportunity to employ our Soldiers. I would recommend that the Battalion establish a full-time Funeral Honors team that travels throughout the region that we are tasked with. As long as the Funeral Honors pay is available, this could likely be funded on a day-to-day basis. Should the current coordinator be willing to hand off this task, the team leader would inherit the responsibility to coordinate the region’s Funeral Honors mission. Other Soldiers throughout North East/Central PA are already being paid for these duties, so this wouldn’t require anything new to be established. This would be a good opportunity to employ our
Career counselors fill extremely demanding positions requiring an unusual amount of effort to accomplish their mission. The Table of Distribution (TDA) only allows one career counselor position, in every Battalion. The amount of personnel fluctuates between 300-800 Soldiers. As identified above MOS 79S, is currently experiencing a shortage causing an additional workload within a small team of NCOs adding additional stress to an already demanding position. The unique skill set a career counselor possesses are different from any other MOS. Career counselors utilize an automated system called RETAIN. Once a career counselor successfully graduates from the basic career counselor course, they receive access to RETAIN. HQDA and HRC both monitor this system. Only those authorized personnel career counselors have access to this automated system. While a unit can assign an additional duty reenlistment, Noncommissioned officer (NCO) to fill the position they will not have access to
1. Purpose. To provide Special Forces Warrant Officer Advance Course (SFWOAC) Class 002-16 a concise overview of ADRP 6-22 Army Leadership.
A military officer must manage pieces of one of the largest organizations in the United States government - an organization that accounts for the third largest piece of the American budget and is comprised of 1.3 million active sailors, soldiers, airmen, and marines, many of whom are tasked with being deployable to any location within 48 hours. This is only possible through concise, professional communication on the part of every service member, especially
All of these experiences, coupled with my studies of tactics, management, EMS protocols, building construction, safety and department policies and procedures, make me an ideal candidate for the position of lieutenant. I have been preparing for this position for a very long time and I believe I am ready for the opportunity to
The case study, The New Principal: Managing Human Resources by Jane A. MacDonald (2006) brings to light many issues a first-year principal could face. For this analysis, I am going to focus on three main ideas: school readiness for change, integrating technology, and human resource needs. All of concerns and tasks that Ms. Zola identified during her brief visit to Roma Elementary fall into one of those overarching ideas.
How do senior leaders set your organization’s vision and values? The organizations vision and values are implemented through daily reinforcement of our objectives, therefore establishing guidelines in which to follow with reference to agency policies and directives. Through mentoring and daily interaction, senior leadership reinforce the agency goals and future commitments. Communication is a key factor in establishing the agency’s vision, therefore providing a guideline to achieving future aspirations. In order to effectively address current and future requirements that are essential in capturing the vision, senior leadership convey the agencies vision and values with our stakeholders through conferences, committee meetings and everyday
The main component of an organization is people. A team of people work together to achieve the common goal of the organization. For an organization to operate successfully it must have a vision, policies, procedures and governance. Each of these four items are determined, implemented and overseen by the leaders of the organization. Leadership is an important part of each phase of an organization beginning with the start of the organization and continuing until the disbanding of the organization. Since leadership of an organization has a strong impact on every organization it is often researched in the study of organizational behavior (OB) (Kreitner & Kinick, 2014).
Pondering about this journey in service, I often wonder how much different my life would have been without experiencing all of the amazing opportunities. Not only the places I have been as a result of my term as Lieutenant Governor of Division 15B, but where I would be as a person if I had decided that I did not want to venture into something new. Throughout my term servicing my division I have guided these schools to having a one hundred percent Officer Information Form submissions weeks in advance of the November deadline, have established connections between organizations such as the local Humane society and March of Dimes Foundation with the clubs within my division, and have made multiple attempt to recharter a Kiwanis club for three
Campus leadership comes in various forms in the educational settings. Each administrator brings special abilities, knowledge and traits into their experiences as an administrator. Campuses across the country vary in student population, economic factors and have various community cultural norms in place. The administrator on an educational campus faces foreseen challenges and also unpredictable obstacles. As a result campus leadership must be confident in decision-making, be effective communicators, willing to accept change in today’s educational climate of high-stakes accountability and build positive relationships with teachers and students.
...d me with our staff and Soldiers we have been given the opportunity to lead. The time and effort spent will be well worth it. Possessing a shared understanding of the operational environment will aid in our planning process when conducting operations throughout our theater of operation. In every operation we execute we know that we will accept prudent risks, identification and mitigation of those risks will determine our ability to accomplish our mission. Incorporating the principles of mission command by building cohesive teams through mutual trust, fostering an environment of shared understanding, and accepting prudent risk will make me an effective adviser to the commander, aid the staff during the operations process, and provide an example for Soldiers to emulate. My involvement in all aspects of mission command is critical to the success of our organization.
My research provided an opportunity to review and identify different elements of leading from previous studies. As I begin my review, I find myself rediscovering essential qualities of successful leadership. The author provides a very interesting case study that depicts the importance of people skills, (Bennis, 2009). In order to be an effective leader you must be able to relate to others through open communication, (Bennis, 2009). A leader needs to be approachable and personable in their actions. The case study provided an example of a leader that lacked people skills. He had been mentored in an environment that was not conducive to team building, (Bennis, 2009). His leadership approach was to be direct and demanding centered on productivity
This case is about interaction between leader and followers and its effects on organization, a very good example of presence of in-group and out- group in many organizations. This is a case of creative director of advertizing agency; who has strong relation with one team than others, who gives special treatment to one team than other. As a result, there is issue of inequality and fairness in the agency.
Being a leader means you guide others to achieve a goal and complete tasks. A leader will use communication strategies to convey what is expected from employees such as priorities or timelines. The communication strategies that will be discussed are motivation of employees, listening, showing confidence and having work knowledge. I will focus on a virtual office setting since I work remotely. Also a case study analysis will discuss what one leader can do differently to effectively lead his staff.
Human resource management (HRM) processes are crucial to the success of an acute care hospital facility. In this paper, I will give insight on how HRM processes have to align with the organizations goals and objectives in order to operate successfully. Hiring, training and benefits are a few of the major roles that human resources control in an organization. Therefore, it is important that human resource managers are abreast of all current policies and procedures.
