Music a form of technology that has impacted me everyday since I can remember from the electric slide to twinkle twinkle little star. This form of technology I generally do not think about because it’s something I use everyday but after reading the prompt I started to wonder where would I be without music or how would my life be changed if I could not hear music? At this point I start to think of the songs that mean the most to me the ones that have a connection to me or help calm me. When I start to think of songs like these one of the first ones that comes to mind is “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd which is a song that I believe relates to me deeply and really represents me.
When I listen to this song many thoughts come to mind especially family situations that are the number on reason I chose this song. Being an only son of my parents I feel like I have a lot to live up to and believe that this song resembles some of the things I feel. The song is written about a message from a mother to son which is something that strikes me personally because my mom also gives important advice. My mother who is one of the most important person in my life is someone that supports me in every way. Though she too has expectations that I must follow which brings me back to this song. The song has lines like “oh take your time, don’t live too fast” which I can see my mom saying for she does get emotional when talking about me

This line is very important to me because I see how hard my mom works everyday just to make sure I have everything that I want and need so I’m satisfied. I then realized I always have to show my appreciation for all the work my parents do because its all to help me. The song also says “Oh, won’t you do this for me son, if you can”; this line relates to my personal life because I never want to let my mom down and try hard to make sure I do everything I’m asked
The lead singer of the band Train, Pat Monahan revealed in an interview that this song is about the death of his mother. In the interview Monahan stated, “ Loss of the most important person in my life was heavy on my mind, and
Whenever I play this song, I can’t help but remember my childhood. My parents struggled financially but, that was never an excuse for them. They always took my brothers and I out on small adventures. One of the most memorable memories I get when I play this song is when my parents would take us out to park to have a barbecue, while my brothers and I ran through the park till we became tired and hungry. Whenever I need a break from the world, I listen to this song just to remind myself of those special moments, even though those days won’t ever return, they are memories I will always treasure.
This song relates to my life perfectly. For example, “Wheel in the sky keeps on turning I don't know where I'll be tomorrow.” My home life was very unstable when I 12 years old, and at any point in time things could change and I would have to relocate...
Being a cannibal and eating one’s children would usually be frowned upon by most moral-driven groups in developed countries, but in A Modest Proposal the narrator makes such an act a solution to a very pressing problem. This satiric piece not only finds many, if not all, of its inspiration from the impoverished state of Ireland in the early mid 1700’s, but deduces an idea of utilizing the otherwise useless beggar youth as an agricultural and economic commodity. While the reader may be seduced into horror by the ideas presented by Jonathan Swift, the fact remains that there are many underlying, as well as apparent, themes within the text. Whether it is the reader’s role in the essay, cannibalism, sympathy, politics, religion, or
First, unlike many other Eminem songs, this song was a very serious song for him where he vents his anger towards his mother. Throughout the song, Eminem speaks with an angry tone as he is bringing up how his mother raised him and the type of mother she was. He starts out the third verse by saying that the information about his mom is not made for the sake of public attention, instead he is putting it out there so people can understand the upbringing he had. He uses a lot of profanity as he is talking about her and wishes bad things upon her out of anger because he is remembering his childhood and he can only remembers bad memories. In addition, Eminem portrays hatred towards his dad for abandoning him and his mother. He wishes death upon him, and says he does not even want to think about how he left. He exemplifies to his audience that his dad is a coward. Furthermore, Eminem interprets his situation to his audience by using sarcasm. He apologizes to his mom in the chorus of the song, but also tells the world how bad of a mother she was. He apologizes for hurting her and making her cry, but explains the way he feels the way he does towards her by expressing the syndromes that she left him with. In many peoples opinion, the song is so great and so many people can relate because he’s
It relays that the speaker, although determined, is still very dejected. The speaker’s tone throughout the song is sorrowful. The sorrow that is interlaced with the lyrics helps demonstrate the deep concern the speaker feels for his parents: “Mama tryna get safe / Dad is being prideful,”(21-22) .The speaker tells us that his mother is trying to get safe. She feels that she is in danger and that she just wants to feel ok. The mother is worried for her family. In the phrase “dad is being prideful,” the speaker tells us that his father is aware of the financial troubles but has too much pride to ask for help. According to society, a father and husband are supposed to be the head of the family. By experiencing such financial hardships, the father feels like he has failed his family. When the speaker says “ Hopefully we good soon /It 's never a bad time/ To deliver good news” (23-25), he is telling us that the financial struggle is soon about to end. The son is willing to take all his hard earned money and put it all towards the bills. This shows us the lengths a child will go to take care of their
The song starts out by revealing the narrator's loneliness and moves to dissatisfaction with routine, then to reflection on how his ex, him, and his friends used to get along. For the rest of the track he questions himself, asking why events in his life fall apart despite his planning. Although this storyteller is far from anarchy, his reflection on why things go wrong will eventually bring up larger questions of society. Additionally, his blame of others, “it’s your fault I can’t relax”, mentions he knows he can’t change
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
The song expresses how we should try to be positive, even in our toughest times, which I believe is true. There are points in our life, of which are hard but you should have faith and a positive outlook in order for the world to become a better place. This example relates to "The Allegory of the Cave," by Plato, because if the prisoner never left the cave, he would have never discovered the truth. The lyrics or questions, "How did we get here? Where are we going?
Like feeling not good enough or being afraid to fall too quickly. It then shows how one is able to go through so much and still come back and be able to show their true selves in a relationship. It expresses a want to get out of the emotions that the artist lived in in the past and to make a comeback with this new love. This song is both parts sad and happy and effectively shows how confusing and contradictory emotions can be. The artist was also using this song to let out her emotions.
Music is a part of everyone’s life, but for me it’s significant because music has helped me cope with my own problems. It’s helped calm my nerves and I can relate to some of the feelings being expressed in the songs. I found myself writing lyrics when I was little and making them come to life in head. I wanted to express how I feel through a song, and I wanted to show others whom were going through the same situation that they’re not alone. Music helps me, and I wanted to help others with it as well.
In the song it mentions forgetting the issues that can get in the way of a relationship. To me this makes me think of how even though things get tough people still have to
A lot frequently, of times when I’m assigned work, I won't do it till like a week later. The chorus of the song is “Today I don't feel like doing anything”, which most people at least feel from time to time. Another part of the chorus talks about not wanting to pick up the phone, and this is relatable to me because most times when I’m relaxing I Just want to chill and not get disturbed. The line about staring at the fan, and watching tv fits me because of how I Like to be unproductive and usually just hang out at home. Another line that reminds me of how I am with my school work is where he says “I might mess around with my college degree” then “but sorry pops you’ll just have to wait”.
For a majority of my childhood, I continued to primarily listen to my Mother’s music. I was enthralled to the harmonious rhythm and “Motown Sound,” which is defined as music that is crafted towards a pop appeal with prominent melodic bass-guitar lines, a distinctive chord structure and a call-and-response singing style. Although, it was more than just the addictive and melodic rhythm that would mesmerize me, instead it was that the songs always encompassed a storyline, whether it be a love story or a story about loss or pain. Over the course of my childhood, these songs eventually became a part of who I am and how I would associate or link a few of my childhood memories and even a few of my emotions. Accordingly, music played and continues to be a strong influence in my identity.
The first line says “I’m weary of the ways of the world”. I think this connects more to what is going on outside of my control, like terrorism or world hunger. Situations like this do not directly affect me ,but can damage my sense of hope. The song goes on to say “You’re feeling like you’re chasing the world, you’re leaving not a trace in the world, but you’re facing the world” (16-18). These are my favorite lines because they explain three major point that contribute to my insecurities. The first part connects to me feeling like everyone is ahead of me in their success. The second line deals with me not feeling like I am contributing to the world enough and the third line connects to me having to compete with others in the world. Listening to this song makes me feel like I am not the only one that has insecurities and it is okay to doubt yourself sometimes. While listening to this song in college I try to remember that I am just human and doing my best is the best I have to offer. As Solange says “..., do you belong? I do I do”.
