There are many different experiences in life. One of them involves love and relationships. We have all been there where we are having “love troubles” with a significant other, and we just do not want to acknowledge the fact there is anything wrong going on. Just like in the song sometimes the two people still love each other and work out there issues and overcome it together. In contrast, sometimes people are not able to overcome their problems and begin to fall apart. I know it may be hard to overcome some issues, and we want to just pretend things are perfect when they are not. The song “Pretend” by Tinashe resonates a lot inside of me because it brings out reminiscence, pride, and sorrow. The first Thing the song resounds with me is reminiscence of the past. It makes me think of a past relationship of mine where we were having “love troubles”, and even though we would always try and work them out sometimes it did feel like we were pretending everything was perfect. From that experience I have learned that pretending things are okay when they are not does not help and only makes things a whole lot worse. Now it may seem like I have had trouble in the past with relationships, because of that though, it has made me a lot stronger that I ever thought I would be. In life right now I am at a point where I do not want a relationship and feel comfortable being myself by myself again. It has taken a while for me to realize that I do not need anybody to make me happy and not feel alone. I know this might sound cliché but it is the truth. Some people are actually happier on their own and doing their own things without anyone else that might get in the way of that. No one should take away someone else’s happiness.
