Throughout my time in university, I was involved in a lot of extracurricular activities. I wanted to implement my knowledge that I got in university (Project management, organizational behavior, leadership and motivation etc.). From the very beginning I founded my own organization that calls Youth Assembly of Nations. My goal was to unite people of different nationalities and lead them to promote friendship among different nations (more than 150 nationalities live in Kazakhstan). As a result 40 delegates of different nationalities were chosen. Every month we were organizing events such as music festivals, fairs, charity events and promoting our vision of collaboration. After I graduated with honors, I knew exactly that I want to work for improvement of my country in the sphere of new technologies. I took a project work in National Innovation Fund. My task was to organize 1st Republican conference on commercialization of technologies. I did it and my team got very high evaluation of work. I think that was a big contribution to development of my country. …show more content…
One of my most significant leadership experiences was to become head of division in leading e-commerce company in Kazakhstan and lead a team of 5 professionals with different qualifications (each one had far more knowledge in their domain that what I had).
All of them were older than me and more experienced, but I had something which none of them had, a strong willingness to succeed and learn from my team. I have always liked assuming more responsibility as it allows me to learn and contribute more as well as keep my team motivated throughout all time I’ve been managing this division. We made 600% growth in half of the
year. One of the dimensions of my professional life which I enjoy the most is empowering others for better changes. On my current job we hired young professional. She has wonderful personal qualities, but was not performing as I expected. I helped her to overcome these difficulties. Worked very closely with her and coached in areas where she had uncertainties. That helped her a lot. She become more confident and takes vital role in operations of my branch.
One extracurricular activity that I am very passionate about would be the FFA. FFA has taught me so many things and it has brought me so many places. I 've learned how to be a great speaker from different events my advisor has challenged me to do. Public speaking has taken me so many places and I have attributed most of my success to FFA. When I was a freshmen I competed and received gold in the creed speaking competition. As a sophomore, I tried extemporaneous speaking and received a gold for that as well. As a junior I really wanted to challenge myself so I took up agricultural sales as my winter career development experience. I ended up being recognized as the state runner up individual agriculture salesman as well as the 15th best agricultural sales man in the nation. Now as a senior, I have been going around speaking at different school board meetings, advocating
I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. Coaches and teammates have named me as an important asset as well. Over the years, these opportunities have presented me with many chances to enjoy extracurricular involvement, meet new people, and mature into a
In a firm, management and leadership are important and needed. Leadership and management are similar. Actually, leadership and management are totally different. The leadership would influence the firm. The leader would have difference leadership styles to lead the subordinate.
It starts of with my passion in joining clubs at my school, I was Vice President for my high school’s MSA (Muslim Student Association) club. I was in charge of the event coordination, preparing lectures and plans for the weekly meetings that would take place. I took my job for this club
Extracurricular involvement through one's school, is a key and crucial factor in succeeding, while growing and developing during the early stages of a student's life. I am an actively involved and motivated student, for I participate in numerous school activities while consistently undertaking superb grades. Throughout my past two years in middle school, I have prospered in the following activities: Newspaper club, Cross Country, Track, Academic Olympics, the Ocean County Math League, Chorus, National Junior Honor Society, and finally, Student Council. In the duration of these activities, I have flourished and excelled greatly.
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
I only reached out to you not because I want you to pray for me per se it is simply because of how Christina speaks highly of you to me. I hardly ask folks to pray for me. I usually pray my way through for everything. After a serious and careful thought about what you stated yesterday regarding mentoring, it did not agree with my spirit. I do not understand how I can be mentored in leadership when that is my area of specialization. I have a PhD in Leadership. I am an expert in leadership. You can read my dissertation from ProQuest. It does not matter which school you go if you are not in ProQuest, you do not have a PhD. You can research the library of Congress; my work is there. You can check me out on LinkedIn or on FB. I use my FB to hone my expertise and glorify my God. The other is strictly professional. For you to ask me where I obtained my degree was a slap on my face. It does not matter where you obtained your PhD from PhD is PhD you still go through the rigorous work to obtain the degree and be approved by ProQuest. As I write this email to you, some of my colleagues a...
As a student, I am an active participant in my academic and extracurricular activities. My first priority has always been to make good grades and learn in school. Although this is important to me, I also know that by participating in clubs, sports, and after school activities, I will become a well-rounded student. During the past years of my high school career I have participated and received awards in the following: Cheerleading (eight years), twice as captain, '97 -'98 Varsity Letter in Cheerleading, '98 AIM scholar, Who's Who Among American Cheerleaders, and '98 Academic Excellence Award while participating in Virginia High School League Interscholastic Activities. I also belonged to the following clubs: S.A.D.D. club (two years), second year as secretary, Pep Club, Varsity Club, Choir Club, and Computer Club. In the year '99 -'00 I received awards in the following classes: Computer Applications, Spanish I, World Geography, and Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry. I also received an award for Most Encouraging Student. I currently belong to the Hiking and Outdoor Club, Ski Club, Pep Club, and Environmental Awareness Club. In addition, this year I participate in a program called Read With A Friend. In this program I, along with a group of other students, go to the near by elementary school to read to a class of students from kindergarten to fifth grade.
The next organization I am apart of is Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. One of our key principles is service. Through my sorority, I volunteer around campus and the Columbus community putting on events like sleep out for the homeless, and toiletry drives for the veterans. Lastly through organizations such as Switch, and “The Stories Behind Their Eyes” human trafficking coalition, I help to combat human trafficking in the greater Columbus area as well as help the victims get back on their feet.
In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. I feel that club and after school activities can make a person more involved and give a person the right qualities to become a leader. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures that college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups.
Many Scholars characterize the core qualities and skills necessary for an effective leader. Useem defines leadership as “Creating a vision and translating that vision into actions”. Historically, an effective leader was assumed to be exceptionally knowledgeable, authoritative, and dominate. Those leaders applied the command and control method to lead an organization. With the passage of time, this definition has been changed. The modern definition of an effective leader is honest, courageous, trustworthy, inspirational, and result-oriented. Today’s leaders create shared values and vision, and empower others to achieve their targets.
When reflecting on my leadership styles, strengths and weaknesses I am rushed with thoughts, memories, regrets and actions of personal ways that I have handled past situations in the work place and ways that I plan to handle new situations at my new work place. I have had many successes with the way I handle my leadership role but there are also things that I wish that I could go back in time and change. The way some situations are handled, I think to myself, well this could have been done differently or I could have done this instead of what I did to enhance the outcome of the situation. There is always room for improvement in whatever job or task someone takes on and this is just one of those things. During the development of my PLAP, I have had the chance to weigh out my strengths and weaknesses of my leadership and it has been very effective to seeing where improving needs to be met. The plan has also let me evaluate the direction I hope to head in to achieve my leadership goals.
I 'm involved in numerous extracurricular activities that will help me achieve my goals. For example, I am the current treasurer of (FBLA) The Future Business Leaders of America, Member of (DECA) it 's an international association for marketing that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in finance, hospitality and management. Additionally, I am an active member with Upstanders, a club that stands up against bullying and hate; (ASA) The African Student Association and the National Art Honor Society. I am also on the football and track teams. Track is a very competitive sport; it teaches me to endure and prepare me for the competitive real world. All of these extra-curricular activities are preparing me for future obstacles on my collegiate
Such activities help the students to acquire leadership attributes and work in teams while simultaneously acquiring higher education. Although, the earlier researches conducted have suggested that students tend to take part in the extracurricular activities to enhance their labor market prospects (Roulin and Bangerter, 2013), but economists has contrasting views questioning the credibility of the relation. Due to this, there still is limited data available that provides evidence on how taking part in the extracurricular activities could help in enhancing the employment opportunities for
During high school I participated in dance team, football and basketball cheerleading, marching band, color guard, concert band, jazz band, pep band, choir, select choir, drama, Resistance Skills Leaders, National Honor Society, GSA, Skills, Big Buddy, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and speech. I always had something to do, and I enjoyed staying busy. Participating helped me find a place in school. In big school participating gives you a new group of friends. Perry is not very big, so everyone that I was on a team with, I already knew. Doing all of the extra curricular activities that I did, really helped me develop strong emotional bonds with many people that I knew. It taught me to encourage others and that positive reinforcement will always work better than punishments. It showed me that being a leader isn’t about because the person with all of the ideas or the most vocal person, but being the person that inspires others to be creative and help share their thoughts and to lead them in the right direction.
