Should Extracurricular Activities Be Allowed

All students have to take at least one mandatory extracurricular activity. Students could be greatly benefited by that in more ways than one. Some studies show that the average American teenager spends 75%-90% of their time using a cell phone or some other electronic device than spending time with actual human beings. A large number of parents would probably agree to that as well. American teenagers are able to interact behind their phones; however, they aren't building effective face-to-face relationships. Doing extracurricular activities, whether it is yearbook or basketball, may help us to grow up to be better people and to develop more meaningful connections with others. I agree that having to do at least one mandatory school-based extracurricular activity is an extremely good idea.

In certain types of extracurricular activities (e.g., sports) students will be able to gain some physical activity while doing it. Some examples of some extracurricular sports include but are not limited to cheering, basketball, softball, volleyball, swimming, etc. They all include some level of physical activity. Even though some of the extracurricular activities offered may not involve a whole lot of physical activity, it is still good for the kids who decide that they are going to take an extracurricular that involves physical activity. I believe that physical activity is a good thing and it can lead to fit and healthy students. So, all of the students doing sports would be able to get some type of physical activity.
