Straight Leadership versus Servant Leadership
Companies that are on the Forbes 500 list either have straight or servant leadership styles. Either leadership style the company is successful. However one of those leadership styles, decisions made only benefits the company bottom line and profits benefit the higher up executives of the company. The mission statement also says a lot about the leadership style. Two companies that have different leadership styles are Sysco Foods and QuikTrip. Sysco Food Service has a straight leadership. QuikTrip has been recognized as Forbes top servant leadership company.

QT is a servant leadership company where employees are on the top of the pyramid. The service that they offer in marketing to the public are specials on food. They also treat employees with “great pay, benefits, and all the fountain drinks they can enjoy,” (QuikTrip, 2015). QT has is listed under FORTUNE 2015 list of Great Place to Work. “QuikTrip has extremely low employee turnover. This is indicated by the charities that they donate to. Also all QuikTrip locations are designated as a SafePlace where they can help at-risk youth get professional help. QuikTrip believes in serving the community. QT believes in the community they do business in. Donating to food banks in the areas where they have distribution centers they are able to help feed the needy.
Sysco on the other hand is living out the values and principles ensuring that they customers are satisfied. They are the United States number one food marketer and have been for years. They offer a lot of different products to customers. On the other hand they do a lot of volunteering. Their charitable contributions are not as detailed as QuikTrip. QuikTrip on the other states what specific companies they partner with as well as indicate the percentage of their net profits to their partners. Sysco, “have operating companies independently determine their philanthropic priorities and manage their giving and volunteer programs with local nonprofits. We match associate giving to higher-level educational institutions up to $5,000 per year,” (Sysco, 2015).
