Have you ever felt as if you over paid for school lunch? Or that is wasn’t worth the money you’re expected to pay? The topic is not only important to me but should be to you as well. School lunches are overpriced, for a hot pocket cheese stick is $2.00. A majority of students pay for their own lunch. The economy is rough and families are struggling. The quality of the food is very inedible. If the food was worth its money more students would be drawn to the items on the menu.
The meat and other products given to students are processed just by their looks it’s noticeable. Many students wait until they get home to eat for many reasons. The first reason is they don’t have enough money to pay for the food. The price for an elementary school lunch is current $2.35, but for primary schools is $2.60. It may not seem like a big difference however it will add up over time. If a kindergartener eats school lunch every day for five days they’ll have spent $11.75. On the other hand if a freshman were to eat the same lunch as the kindergartener for the same amount of time, they’ll have spent $13.00. …show more content…

If we show the parents and others in the community the things going into the children’s bodies they may be willing to make a change. To be able to raise enough money to start a program for new food sources we will need every school to be able to host an event. Students who pack lunches should also pay attention to the fundraiser. One day a student might forget their lunch and he/she may have a full time working parent or guardian. With this being said the student will want a say in what goes into the lunches so they’ll be satisfied with what goes into their
