Research kids-based learning, in my opinion, would create value with the school system because even though the foundations are the same, the way we learn is consistently evolving daily. The importance of the program and the affect on children is that it gets each child motivated and they are ready to get started. The children are excited to go out and do things since they learned the building blocks and are able to build and learn more and more each day. The children are able to learn about how to eat right and make good decisions all by learning it and having a fun time.
My research paper is focusing on the topic of universal preschool in the United States. I will be researching if there is evidence supporting a need for preschool for all age eligible children. My goal is to present evidence supporting why this is important and why it is beneficial.

The Virtual Child Project is a very beneficial assignment. It teaches students how to raise a child, what the child is thinking, and how they should develop. It is a great way to show young adults the development of a real child, via a virtual child. Each form of development is important in its own form, and affects a child as they grow into an adult. The most helpful issues I learned about how different conditions affect student learning. Through my time at Goodhue, I was able to get a hands on experience working with children of different ethnic, social, family and financial backgrounds. Being able to see how different conditions affected learning was interesting because in most cases, those who came from more stable conditions performed better in the classroom. It was also helpful to learn about how students learn best. Some students learn better through hands on learning, others visual learning and some learn best from hearing things explained. At Goodhue, I was able to see how different students learn and how some students are more fast-paced learners and others need a more slow paced learning environment. This helped me to adapt my teaching style based on each student’s individual needs.

This would be effective as these students would have prior knowledge of certain topics that will be taught. At the beginning of the school term the teacher would start off with pre-assessment quiz to find out what levels the students are. For example in a resource and technology unit such as a home economics, students will be asked name the different types of food groups and give two examples in each food group. Based on the results the teacher will focus on what the students don’t know by giving students researches, regular quizzes and oral question and answer sessions. Teacher can place students in groups to encourage cooperative learning. Each student will be required to learn different aspects of the food group and the function of each. Students will be taking responsibility for their own learning and working with each other to achieve one goal. The teacher will ensure all mistakes on concepts taught are corrected before moving on. Students who didn’t do well the first time will get it the next time around and no one is left
I agree with the video and think that children should be valued. When children feel like they have a voice and that they belong they tend to engage in activities more, and this will ensure that they participate in more learning. Allowing kids to make decisions and problem solve on their own, as oppose to telling them how to do everything, ensures that they really learn the information and are more stimulated and engaged. However, the actuality is that many people don’t see the need for preschool, they think it is pointless. When choosing a topic to research and discuss, I wanted to research something that I wasn’t as familiar with and that would be Junior Kindergarten. I come from a small town in central South Dakota. Where I went to school, there was only Kindergarten thru 12th grade, until the year after I graduated, when a preschool program was started at the school. It wasn’t until I had come to college and started the Early Childhood Education program at South Dakota State University, that I had first heard the term “junior kindergarten.” Over the past semester in my PS1 classes, I have heard the term more often and have become more familiar with what junior kindergarten is, but yet questions still remain. Some of the questions that I want an answer to are, what really is junior kindergarten, do I have to send my child to junior kindergarten, is junior kindergarten necessary for the education of young minds, and what are children learning in junior kindergarten?

The reason why college was such a success in the 20th century was because books were all of a sudden available to students on university campus. Now with internet, a student could specialize their profession solely with the computer with the click of a button. Something needs to be done to smoothen the rigid gaps and cracks in the school system before the technological pace at which we are advancing decides to bring the whole thing down.
