Mental and emotional health it is important to find the warning signs and to be aware and give children ways in which they can get help, if they are feeling down, or stressed. Next is family and social health this is important that way children and families are able to develop healthy relationships with family members. Growth and development comes next and it is how each child develops differently in their life times. Nutrition is very important cause it shows how the children are to be eating during the days and healthy diet ideas. Personal health and physical activity is next and it’s about the importance of a good night’s sleep, and being physically active and how important it is for a child to do. Alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs are not good for children and can lead to many negative factors down the road. Communicable and chronic diseases are to make sure your child has the right immunizations at any given time. Consumer and community health is being aware of the laws of healthcare around you and aware of what healthcare can offer you as a consumer. Next is environmental health, which is to be protecting the environment by recycling and conserving. Lastly is injury prevention and safety, which shows about how to reduce the risk of unintentional injuries by following rules or guidelines.

Lastly is family and community involvement in the school community everything works together like a puzzle that each piece needs each other and they are able to rely on one anything if something happens.
The importance of the program and the affect on children is that it gets each child motivated and they are ready to get started. The children are excited to go out and do things since they learned the building blocks and are able to build and learn more and more each day. The children are able to learn about how to eat right and make good decisions all by learning it and having a fun time.

The number of programs and services available within community organizations in which provides a health promoting service is immense. As adults, all we want our children to be is happy and healthy. Therefore, leading us to believe and wish that such programs and services (for children) should not be necessary.
D.A.R.E. exposed many young people, including me, to the dangers in society today. For example, almost 50,000 deaths per year can be attributed to secondhand smoke, and alcohol is the cause of 75,000 deaths in the U.S. annually. Because of my participation in D.A.R.E., I am now conscious of the health risks and effects tobacco, alcohol, and other hazardous substances cause. Before D.A.R.E., I was not mindful of the extensive damage cigarettes and other tobacco products cause. Cigarette smoke contains over 200 harmful chemicals, including rat poison. Because of nicotine, cigarettes are highly addictive. As a result, smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in the U.S. It causes over 400,000 deaths annually. Smoking causes heart disease, frequent colds, upper respiratory problems, and lung cancer. Chewing tobacco can result in mouth cancer, tooth loss, and other ailments in health. Alcohol is also a major threat to the welfare of U.S. citizens. Alcohol slows the brain and body. Many people argue that the topics discussed in health classes do not have appropriate content for middle school and high school students to be learning. Despite the controversy surrounding these topics, health education is still an extremely important aspect of the middle school and high school curricula.
