As a freshman here at Arizona State University, the biggest challenge I had to face was time management. I was having a hard time managing homework, studying, and social activities. I was working on assignments last minute which caused me to be stress. Talking to my success career coach Kendall Cody she advised me to make or buy a calendar and write down when my assignments where due. Toward the end of the semester I took her advice and saw a huge difference in the way I was organizing my time. I was able to turn in tasks a day before the actually due date and stay on track with all my classes. Along the way I had also developed strengths such as staying focused and team work. When I would arrive to class I would always sit the front and …show more content…
I have learned a lot from this class such as when it is proper to use a Simi colon and a colon. Another thing that helped me out is how to manage stress by doing breathing exercises from an article I read in my UNI 120 class. It created a way for me to handle stress in a positive way. The third important information I’ve erudite was how to solve integral equation in my MAT 210 in which I was excited to learn. I hope to learn even more next semester from my PSY 101 because I love learning about the thought process of how humans think. What I have learned about myself this semester is that I am very social, responsible, and always positive. All these characteristics gave me the capability to be successful this …show more content…
I had no idea we would be working on an introduction about ourselves that we can use for future job interviews. This assignment was different from any other assignment I had received from other classes. I was excited when I got the opportunity to actually answer a question most people ask at job interviews helping me in the future. So whenever I have an interview for an internship or a job I am going to be prepared when the manager asks, “so tell me about yourself.” I’ll know the answer right away, feeling more confident in myself to be relax and answer any questions the hiring manager might
A second strategy I think is very useful for my college career is to set goals. This is useful for someone like me who always seems to slack off in school and give in to less important concerns. For example I would have school and work as my main priorities, but I would get distracted and end up playing video games or just hanging out doing nothing productive with my time. I decided to a set certain...
I write this clear and concise reflection to identify and evaluate an academic problem that I feel is negatively impacting my studies which is time management; otherwise, I find lot of difficulty to manage my time.
In the workplace, time management is an important factor in everyone’s day-to-day work. If a person’s time is well managed, it is possible to achieve a greater amount in a shorter space of time. How effectively people manage their time has a major influence on aspects of their working lives and their personal lives. Effective time management can have a hugely positive effect on a person, it can lead to a focused and disciplined mentality, giving a higher level of productivity, greater efficiency and an all round positive attitude in life. This benefits the individual, their team, the company they work for and also their friends and family. An example of this is an employee who prioritises their jobs at the start of the day; this gives them a structured day and ensures they have time to complete all of the important jobs. However, if time is poorly managed it can lead to inefficiencies, work overload and added pressure, this could eventually lead on to other issues such as stress.
Introduction “This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we know what to do with it” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. Time management is the ability to use one’s time effectively or productively, especially at work. Oxford Dictionary. Good time management is essential to success in everything we do in our daily life. Planning time before doing work allows more work to be done over a shorter period of time and enables us to do more things more efficiently.
One of my weaknesses is a need to improve my time management skills. I spend a tremendous amount of time working with the leadership team and their staff. It is not unusual for me to work the front line with my staff in order to build trust, develop their skills sets and provide coaching. I also take the opportunity to assess the operations or our centers. My issue with this approach is that it leaves me with a minimal amount of time to work on my assignments and objectives. I need to find a way to balance my leadership approach so that I can continue to work with the staff and get my tasks completed in a timely manner.
In his major work (Hofstede 1991) Gert Hofstede introduces 5 dimensions of culture, one of them dealing with time measurement. He uses the concept of time orientation in terms of long term vs. short term. In long term oriented cultures future rewards play a major role and with this status in relationships, persistence, thrift, having a sense of shame. On the opposite in short term oriented cultures past and present are important, therefore values like tradition, keeping face, stability and steadiness are favoured.
Far too often I found myself stressing over essays, presentations, and homework at 12:00am during my freshman and sophomore year. It wasn’t until about one-fourth into my junior year that I decided to make a change. I went to my local retail store, bought a planner, and the rest is history. Since then, I noticed I don’t forget about my homework, I can plan out my schedule for the week, therefore finding time to give myself breaks, and I don’t forget events such as birthdays, private lessons, appointments, etc. This skill will definitely assist me in college by allowing me to spread my homework, and studying across the week, stay focused for longer periods of time, and I find that whenever I complete everything on my “To-Do List”, I feel a sense of accomplishment, a necessity in such a demanding
About eight students interviewed about causes that led them to earn academic warnings or to be placed on academic probation. Even though all of the students were previously successful in high school, they were not able to maintain required GPA in college. Most of the students admitted that they were not able to manage their time and had very low self-motivation. Additionally, some of the students responded that they were not used to facing challenges in high school and, as a result, did not know how to deal with stress that was arising from the challenges in college. Basically, the main idea of the research was to show that not only time management and motivation are important for average students, but even for the ones who were considered as far above average and had high achievements before entering

Time management is another challenge, as a student and also a worker, you need to really know how to plan and manage your time in terms of studying, taking care of your family and schools with the assignments from school. Time, if not properly managed can bring about schedule conflict, both working and studying are time consuming but you need to set aside a particular for studying when all you do is mainly studying and nothing more. Set the time when to cook for the family to avoid late food all the time thereby making your family members eat junks which might lead to gaining excessive weight or
Taking this class this semester has really changed the way that I have viewed myself when it has come to work and the different companies that I have worked before. I have taken a psychology class before but I have never taken one that relates to management and organizations. This class has really helped me answer different questions such as why I was unhappy at some jobs, enjoyed some managers over others, and what motivated me to work hard at jobs. It’s good to learn that there are different terms and definitions for different feeling and things I experienced at jobs to know that their other people experiencing these things also. I will be going into a management position after I graduate, and this class helped me to learn many different ways to go about managing and things to avoid to keep a positive working environment.
Not only, but also, the time log and analysis questions that I answered from my Key To College Success Compact textbook made me think a little more in depth. The textbook gave tips on planning a schedule and managing that schedule that was planned; it stated “…. create a schedule that maximizes your strengths, minimizes your weakness, and reduce stress.” When I prerecorded how I would spend the week of Oct.4th-Oct.20th, I observed that the majority of my time during the week is spent doing the same activities that keep me productive and will later reward me, and that is work, school, and
The curriculum was demanding and finding a balance between class, seminars, and research was challenging at first. I was responsible for designing and executing experiments that would support my thesis. I had to make and meet deadlines not only for classes but for conferences and seminars. The progress of my degree and my research depended on me showing up every day and taking responsibility for my learning and my goals. Eventually, I learned how to better manage my time.
Homework is achieved at higher levels, causing timing to increase on such task also the ability to learn. Children now at this rate have not only homework to focus on but also scholarships, colleges, extra curriculum activities, and SAT/ACT. The tole can cause stress and anxiety to the student but their work ethics learned through completing given homework can cause the student mindset to enhance short-term retention, understand the content, and construct thinking. But one may ask themselves, how can a single student that has twenty-four hours in the day as any other normal person have the ability to overcome the tremendous task set forth on their plate. Educators suggests that students that has these different tasks in their lives should break down all the requirements and get themselves an organized plan. A organized plan can create a tremendous and helpful insight that balances the students life out and makes it less stressful. The following is a few tips to getting the job done with a considerable outcome. First step, which is obvious, is to take care of yourself that includes getting enough rest and eating well. Secondly is to get a planner or organizational board that shows what assignments or plans the person has to do for the week or month."Managing materials is one of the three key categories of study skills that contribute to students ' ability to organize, remember and apply their knowledge
PMBOK guide defines TM as the “Use of available time and your own productivity along with the appropriate planning and management of the project schedule” highlighting the link between Time Management and productivity and its closely knit relationship to scope and cost areas. Max Wideman presents a wider definition for TM as the “function required to maintain appropriate allocation of time to the overall conduct of the project through the successive stages of its natural life-cycle, by means of the processes of time planning, time estimating, time scheduling, and schedule control.” Ultimately at it’s core however, TM is about time, its planning and control during all stages of the project. A further look into Wideman’s definition of TM by means of identifying its importance throughout the entire project life-cycle (Initiation, planning, execution, controlling and close-out) is required. It is hoped that by analysing how TM tools and techniques can positively and negatively effect the different stages of the Project life cycle a better understanding of productivity, TM and project success will result.
