As much as working is very demanding especially as a nurse so is studying also. There are so many challenges which are involved in working and studying at the same time, some of which are: Goal, Finances, Stress, Time Management and Socialization. These challenges have both positive and negative effects on working and studying. As a matter of fact, it takes one determination and commitment to be able to combine the two at the same time and still be able to achieve ones aim. Mostly the goal of working is to be able to live a good life, be independent and to also enable you to live a better life. Another purpose of working is to be able to take care of your needs and your family. The presence of accumulated stress and heavy work load on the brain automatically bring about the student or the employee inability to multitask; knowing fully well that multitasking is one essential key to excellence. Time management is another challenge, as a student and also a worker, you need to really know how to plan and manage your time in terms of studying, taking care of your family and schools with the assignments from school. Time, if not properly managed can bring about schedule conflict, both working and studying are time consuming but you need to set aside a particular for studying when all you do is mainly studying and nothing more. Set the time when to cook for the family to avoid late food all the time thereby making your family members eat junks which might lead to gaining excessive weight or
This discussion board is about the nurse’s scope of practice. The purpose of this posting is to discuss the definition and standards of the nurse’s scope of practice as defined by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and by the Ohio Board of Nursing with an example of how to use the standards of practice. Per the ANA, when determining the nurse’s scope of practice there is no one specific explanation that can be provided due to the fact that registered nurses can have a general practice or a practice that is very specialized. The limits that are placed on a RN’s scope of practice will depend on a registered nurse’s education, type of nursing, years as a nurse, and the patients receiving care. At the basic level, every nurse’s practice

Another factor that influences being a safe and professional nurse is having the right attitude. This will help you develop your nursing skills better if you have a positive attitude, because you may work with a team of registered nurses but you must recognize that each of you have your strengths and weaknesses. You must value each nurse for their expertise and skills, and always be willing to learn and accept feedback to help improve yourself. As a nurse, you may be great at starting IVs, while another nurse may be great at talking to patients, another nurse may be great at wound care, etc. Overall, recognizing when to ask for help is a good quality in nursing, this isn’t as a disfavor to yourself but actually a service to your patient, because

A registered nurse (RN) is someone that went through a university or college and studied nursing; and then passed the national licensing exam to obtain a license to practice nursing. The degree earned by an RN at the need of the program is deemed a professional nursing degree. The RN top nursing staff and they usually works independently. On the hand, an LPN only earns a practical nursing degree after completion of the program. LPNs are mostly recognized only in USA and Canada; they are also named as License Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of California and Texas. LPN work under the supervisor of an RN or a physician.

There are many who believe that the next shortage will be worse and the demand for nurses will increase. There will be more jobs available especially with the baby boomer nurses retiring. Wood believes that when nurses retire, the next shortage could be even worse than the previous shortage. According to Wood this would lead to an “intellectual drain of institutional and professional nursing knowledge” (Wood, 2011, para 15). Staiger agrees as well that a shortage of nurses is expected again when nurses retire and since the economy will be more stable full-time nurses will go back to being part-time (Huston, 2017). Huston expects for the supply of nurses to grow minimally in the next couple of years and for a large number of nurses
“We can’t turn away from a patient’s pain just because it’s difficult” (chapman, 2015, p. 88). I know the path of least resistance is taking a path of ignorance. Easy, is to ignore or neglect the true pain patients experience in times of crisis. As caregivers I believe we all want to heal others or we wouldn’t be in the field of nursing, but there are only handfuls willing to be present during the healing process because sharing one’s pain hurts. As a surgical nurse, I find being genuinely present takes hard work on my behalf, not only mentally but emotionally. On a unit where patient’s needs and conditions are changing at astonishing rates, being present requires mental strength in order slow down enough to recognize the value presence
A career in the medical field is always evolving, and always needing more hands. I knew from a young age that helping people is what I was meant to do, and from then on out every step I took was the way to a successful career in nursing. It is a profession that allows you to see people at their worst, all while helping them become their best. The most important task for nursing students is to create a clear pathway for our education, and to be sure to follow that plan accordingly. When choosing this career, I had to access my own strengths and weaknesses and really establish clear goals for myself and evaluate if I had what it takes to be a part of this diverse and skilled profession. I also decided not only not only do I need to set professional goals for this career, personal goals are important as well.
There is nothing comparable with the happiness of knowing my purpose in life. Nursing is a career where you can never stop evolving. Being a nurse gives me a sense of personal fulfillment that brings challenging experiences every day. It is a profession that demands zeal and the devotion to play an important role in health care.
Nursing involves alleviating suffering by doing a diagnosis and treatment of human response, preventing illness and injury to individuals, populations and communities. The professional growth in the provision of patient care depends on setting goals that contribute to development of the career and skill enhancement as the caregiver. Goals in the nursing profession can be short term or long term. Short term goals are those that are achievable in a short time frame and more immediate as they take one to two years. They help in reaching long term goals.
Why I want to be a nurse? I have asked myself this question numerous times, and have come up with a variety of answers. I think that being a nurse just embodies the characteristics that I have innately had and characterizes the person I am now. Nursing is more than a profession to me; it encompasses my life in every aspect. Nursing challenges me, nothing is ever exactly the same each day. There are so many opportunities in nursing and so many ways to challenge myself and learn new things.
Moreover, “The human brain works more efficiently on a single task and for sustained rather than intermitted or alternating periods of time” (Multitasking 758). So, this does not mean that the human brain can’t handle multitasking; it could, but is not as accurate or efficient as if it was performing one task and concentrating only on that task; consequently, students’ brains would work more efficiently and accurately if students were only focusing on one task.... ... middle of paper ... ...
The problem of time management can be said to be universal not only affecting students but also other people in careers. This problem is seen to transition from a person’s life from different cadres of his or her engagement specifically from home, school and at work. It is also a problem that is internal and not external.
I have always wanted to become a nurse since I was a little girl, seeing both of my grandmothers working in a hospitals and always helping everyone in need. My goals in becoming a nurse is just the basic foundation of just helping people who physically cannot help themselves. I want to be able to shed light in people's lives who are losing it because of their situation. I feel as nurses is the backbone in the hospital. The nurses are there day in and day out with the patients, holding their hands and walking them and their families throughout such a difficult time. Nurses are also their supporting the doctors and all other staff. I’ve found especially in these past few years that I want to spend my life helping others and that's what I can
