To be an effective section leader I would need to improve on knowing everyone in my sections personal needs and how they learn. Being a freshman I have not had as long to learn this because I was learning myself about how high school band works. I would strive to, in the first 2 weeks of band, to learn about this because this is an important skill to have to improve the section.
I think the clarinet section has many strengths. We all work very well together and create a strong and good toned sound. With encouragement, everyone strives to play any music we receive and to march the best that we can. We all feel comfortable around each other and know we can ask for help at any time.
Some specific goals I would have for my section include having everyone engage and not talk while the teacher is talking. To do this I would encourage them to be quiet, respectful, and listen willingly to instructions. If this were to not work I would kindly, but sternly, ask for them to pay attention. Also, I would set a good example and be quiet and respectful to show them everyone must do it. Another goal I would set for the section would be for everyone to willing march, play music, and practice. I have a lot of passion for the band, and would like to see some more people in my section excited for early band and marching. I understand they are tired, but if we don’t have a strong outlook on the day, then we will not be successful in the long run. We must practice to become a better band and without people practicing we will not become successful.

After seeing her try out for drum major, I have noticed how she works very hard and is a strong leader. When leading she developed a strong voice and became
The low reed section to me is not just my section, it is my family, and I would love to have the honor of calling myself mom. However, Lauren will always be the original mom and my biggest role model in band. She was the first one to give me hug whenever I was upset, she made sure I didn't get sunburned during band camp, and was overall the most loving, caring section leader I most likely will ever have. As section leader, I would like to devote all my time, love, and leadership to my section and show what an amazing marching experience truly is. Throughout this essay, I will evaluate what Lauren did well, what she could have done better, what I would do differently, and why I am the person for the job.
The Granbury Percussion program is very young with freshmen and sophomores dominating the mass majority but to me that doesn 't matter. My plan is to not just sit back and improve myself and let the rest of the section slowly lose hope. I want every person in this program to realize they have a place here to contribute and I want each one to put 110% effort in everything they do. I also want to bring the group together not as small groups within the family but as one big family. I feel one problem we’ve always run into is sectioning ourselves off. To become a good ensemble we need to first come together and trust one another to play well with each other. The moment every member of Omphalo really became friends was when we came together and played our best and I would rather have our that kind of performance early on and build on it than end with it
I'd like to make sure that freshman weren't scared about Drumline. To help them know they had someone who could help them with music. I would try my best to build the Drumline up as a whole and to make sure that I was only saying positive things to build others up. I would love to try to avoid that because the Drumline to me is a family. We all may fight but deep down we all love each other, care for each other and don't want to see anyone brought down. I would try to do create activities during band camp to make it much more fun. I also think a leader should have the basic knowledge of all the instruments in the Drumline and Pit so that he or she would be able to help anyone that's struggling with whatever it may be. Also, a leader should be very devoted to whatever he or she is a part of. He or she should really practice a lot for Drumline and make it a habit of focusing mostly on Drumline. I've seen how I have grown in the last few years from just practicing and sitting down and going through stick control and even just
One of the biggest decisions of my high school career came my sophomore year when I decided to try out for the role of drum major in my high school band. This decision was very tough to make due to the fact that I was a sophomore, and although I already had three years of experience under my belt as a band member at Northview High School, I knew that it would be very tough to earn the respect of my peers if I succeeded in becoming drum major. Out of the three years I had spent in the band, the biggest influence on my decision to try out came from my very first marching season, between August and December of 2012. From that year forward, after seeing many areas that the band could improve, watching how underclassmen and middle school band members
Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. But I had an incredible set of adults guiding me along the way, who taught me that being a leader was not doing everything myself, being a leader
A section leader is someone who is willing to go the extra mile and be the example. Someone one is willing to devote their time and energy into developing a section that helps create a magnificent band. To be completely honest I lost sight of that last year, which wasn't my goal as a leader. Although I can't change the past, I can set myself up for the future. The only thing I can do now is learn from my mistakes and push foward to be the best musician and leader I can be. I plan to fully take the advice I've been given and try to better myself. It is impossible to become perfect on your instrument, that you can always learn more to better yourself and others. This same rule can be applied to our everyday life to become not only a model citizen, but a wise person.
The principles of leadership and management are helps to understand the management style and make the effective decision. An effective decision helps to gain the success of an organization. Lots of way to manage and collect information/question for leadership and management which are describing in the below:
this area but I’m going to improve on it. The process of using multiple drafts has
After completing this assignment I realized that my time management is very “mediocre” according to my scores on my time management quiz. I was actually very surprised because I thought that my time management was acceptable not great but at least decent. I scored 41 points on my quiz, meaning that I do need to improve my time management. Though, I am actually very close to being good, the score for good is 45 points. Time management has always been an issue for me. I plan myself on a daily basis to try to accomplish everything I must do. However sometimes even with a schedule there are certain things we have no control of. Just like the book establishes these are obstacles that I must overcome. Some of the best tips I found in the book are
Leadership is not defined by position. Leadership is an extraordinary responsibility given only to those willing to exude selflessness, decisiveness, and wisdom. CSM William R. Hambrick, Jr is an accomplished leader that embodies the values, attributes, and competencies that I aspire to convey to my subordinates. The impact that CSM Hambrick has had on my career and leadership philosophy is immeasurable. His far-reaching legacy is one of confidence, sound judgment, and empathy.
In regards to in band, a section leader must be able to show their section how to play their music in and out of sectionals and march on and off the practice all that they can. Mrs. Kucherer has said to me that, “there will be people that will grumble at for instance, playing at 6 AM...but it is the job of the section leader to motivate everybody in the section to why that they should show up and do their part”. To add to that, a leader is someone who is able to clearly share ideas amongst others. Someone who wants to be a robust leader, they should be able to work with others with different ideas to help come to one conclusion and do what is best for the band. “A leader must be kind and not boss others around”.
Such little words give off such a big lesson, showing all of us that we will not always get what we want and not all things will be up to you. Little lessons like these are taught every day in the classroom and on the field. It takes a lot from you, but it also gives a lot back. Marching Band gives students an opportunity to learn how to be responsible, shows
Over the last thirteen years I have worked under a leader who would be classified as having a shared leadership style, where a team is created, decisions are made, and then delegation takes place. Rarely is the topic revisited unless new information is gained, or other factors contribute to the team needing to come back together to reevaluate their position on the matter. I have grown to respect this type of leadership especially the aspect of being able to work independently and being trusted on my level of experience in a particular subject matter. Within the last two years, I have noticed a shift in my thinking regarding leadership styles when the dynamics of a group changes. The Situational Leadership and Power Perception Instrument confirmed my mind shift.
The leadership role at a brand new community hospital can be very challenging, and can even require from the best of leaders to reevaluate their leadership styles. In my business ethics class, we learned that a good leader must establish corporate values and promote corporate ethics. They must embrace change, stress accountability, and responsibility. During my internship at the Hillsborough Hospital Campus, I had the privilege to meet and talked to managers from different department of the hospital to learn about their leadership style. Each of the managers I spoke to explained to me why their leadership style work best for them. The three leadership styles that I found to be common among the managers are the concept of empowering in leadership,
What is leadership? Leadership is defined as a process by which a individual will influence others to obtain goals. Leaders will guide, direct motivate, or inspire others. Leadership is defined by not only traits but actions as well. Leaders are inspirational, trustworthy and charismatic. Many people may think a manger is leader. Although leadership and management go hand in hand, they are not the same. Everyone has their own beliefs about what characteristics an effective leader should have. To me, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and having a vision are few characteristics of becoming an effective leader. A leader is not only born, but made. Some are born as leaders or some are made to be leaders.
