After completing this assignment I realized that my time management is very “mediocre” according to my scores on my time management quiz. I was actually very surprised because I thought that my time management was acceptable not great but at least decent. I scored 41 points on my quiz, meaning that I do need to improve my time management. Though, I am actually very close to being good, the score for good is 45 points. Time management has always been an issue for me. I plan myself on a daily basis to try to accomplish everything I must do. However sometimes even with a schedule there are certain things we have no control of. Just like the book establishes these are obstacles that I must overcome. Some of the best tips I found in the book are
visualize the outcome and don’t lose sight of the big picture. Currently the way I work best is having two planners; one is personal use and it also includes deadlines for school. The second one is for work and it includes deadlines and meetings for work. I am very organized because I am aware that I have a lot of responsibilities and I can’t afford to be disorganized. Sometimes even being organized time is still not enough which is my priority to fix. I need to start making changes to better manage my time. The first thing I will do is look over my school and work schedule and plan my day according to how my school and work schedule look. I think by giving priority to school and work together I’ll be able to focus more and have more control. Just like the book establishes goal setting is very important. “Successful individuals and organizations have learned the key to achieving meaningful results is through effective goal setting” page 55 The changes and considerations that I will make to ensure that I have enough time to devote to school is to plan myself with the following schedule. If I am able to work 12 hours from 7:00am to 7:00pm and then once I get home start doing homework around 8:30pm until 10:30pm and finally go to sleep at 11:00pm then I can still sleep 6 hours each night and dedicate 1 hour to each of my classes on a daily basis. Perhaps, this schedule would work better for me so I will try it this upcoming week. Managing my time correctly
There are a lot of actions I could take to improve my time management. I could turn off my phone to remove the possibility of distraction. When family or friends invite me to go somewhere, I should go instead of passing up the opportunity. If there happens to be any free time, that should be used to study or train...not sitting on my phone. In a way, I can connect to Tom Benecke because we don’t value the things that are important to us, but we should. Time management makes us well-rounded individuals and more productive as a whole in
For example, organizing my calendar where I have the time blocked out when I am in class, driving, the hours I will be studying, the time that I will spend getting Avery ready for bed and her school work done, etc. by having this all planned out in such detail maybe this will help me stay on track for efficient time management. Also, logging my time and keeping track of where I spend my time can also help me see where I can spend more time doing something more productive. (Chapman,2008) Setting priorities and learning to focus not only what is urgent and important but also activities that are important but might not be urgent, like Avery’s gymnastics or her 4H club meetings. Making a “to do list” would be helpful in helping me remember what needs to be done and what I would like to get done and finding time in my organized calendar to do so. (Chapman, 2008) Also, I should try to avoid multi- tasking, I am a mother which means I am a great multi tasker, I can cook dinner, do laundry, and give a bath all at the same time, although sometime the dinner gets a little burnt. But according to Chapman, multi-tasking is actually not a time saver but rather you lose time when you switch to different tasks. Trying to stick to one task at a time may be helpful in learning more effective time management skills. All of
There are many ways to improve managing your time wisely and be accountable for it. The first step of improving your time wisely is to have a good rest the day before. By doing this you will have enough energy to last you the next following day. Also, sleeping late is not a good way of time management. Sleeping late will only result to not waking up on time and where you have to be. Sleeping will help both our body and mind to recover from the day’s activities. Another way of improving time management
Time management is a very important skill for all employees. Many employees find themselves frustrated with their workload and this often leads to stress as they try to catch up on tasks that they have not managed to complete.
I feel my poor time management skills at work are due to various interruptions, activities, requests or persons. Given your scores, I would hardly consider your time management skills in either area to be “poor”. There may be room for improvement, but you would appear to be far ahead of most of us, especially me! These interruptions reduce my effectiveness considerably. To improve my time management skills at work, I should protect my time by saying “no” to various interruptions and prioritize the things or tasks I wish to attend to first.
One of my problems is time management. I don’t have a lot of time and I can barely find time for myself. I often hand in assignments late, because I get up early the next morning after the due date and do it. My days always start early and always finish late. A big part of my schedule is work. I do about 30 per week on average. I don’t really have a choice since my sister’s wedding is about 2 weeks away so I’m trying to make as much money as I can.
Over this summer, I realised that every seconds count and there are moments where it is going to be really hard. Concerning my time management, I plan to classify each of my daily activities into 4 different categories which are the following: “Important and Urgent”, “Important but Not Urgent”, “Not Important and Not Urgent”, “Not Important but Urgent”. I think that if I plan wisely I will be able to actually manage my time in a very nice way.
In my writing I have seen large amounts of growth, I have learned how to better introduce all my sources as well as how to flow my ideas, as well as how unnecessary the five-paragraph essay is. Wring has become easier for me due to the fact that I now I feel understand how to write. I understand that there must be a “they say” and an “I say” in my writing. There has to be an equal balance to everything I write. For example I cannot just write a piece all about my opinions as well how, I cannot just write a piece about what others are saying without explaining the purpose of it all. English 5A has helped me overly improve my writing skills and has shown me new very important skills on how to be a better writer.
It is therefore, vital for the students to realize the actual root causes of poor time management and arrest the same in good time. Some of the stated causes include: lack of prioritizing tasks, lack of setting personal goals, failing to manage distractions, procrastination, multitasking and last but not least in effective scheduling of tasks.
Dembo and Seli state, “time management is to ensure that we complete all of our important tasks each day and not simply to manage time” (p. 148). Many students have a hard time balancing their personal, social, academic and professional
On the first day of class, I was not confident in my writing. I was in honors english last year, however, I did not do too well on essays. Being that I never received an A, I assumed my writing was not as good as it should be. Now, I earned a 6, almost 7, on the 9 point scale and am beginning to feel more confident. I do feel that I have been appropriately challenge this semester. I did not find any of the assignments to be too easy. I have definitely felt challenged this year, I have learned multiple techniques that I never knew prior to taking this class. As a whole, I am happy with the experiences I was provided in this class. The last essay I wrote, I was given the opportunity to meet with Mr. Perry after school one on one for help which was extremely beneficial. Also, I appreciate the fact that Mr. Perry reads our entire essay commenting on what went wrong or suggests ways to improve it. Revising essay really helps not only my grade, but also my overall understanding of what I did incorrectly. Overall, I am extremely happy I took this class and I continue to benefit in multiple ways.
There are many different parts to time management, such as procrastination, strategy, organization, expectations and being prepared. All of them contribute equally in many ways. All of the things that we have spoken about in this paper are highly recommended. The best thing to do when it comes to time management is to set a strategy, become organized and do your best to avoid procrastination. When you manage your time make sure you include the following; studying, sleeping, eating, relaxing and other necessary things. No matter what our circumstances are, we can all use some time management skills in our lives.
Learn to manage your time wisely. Plan ahead! Time management can help you stay calm and focused regardless of the current situation you are in.
Time management is not a new idea and many methods have been proposed regarding the best way to handle time management issues for business students. These suggestions can often be quite simple, such as writing down lists of things to do in order to support people in making good use of their time for work or recreational purposes. When time pressures are high, planning tasks and actions does not always lead to the completion of the work. It is in recognition of this that time management training programs have been designed, aiming to give an insight into the time required for activities, ways to make time plans, and increasing the efficiency of people by teaching them how to plan properly, how to prioritize tasks, and how to handle unexpected tasks. This is increasingly easy, particularly for students, as “books, articles, and time management training programs that were initially developed for managers have been made available to everyone”.(Claessens, Brigitte J.C. 2004).
In order to be effective in my personal life, there are certain skills that I need to develop and perfect. A successful personal life is based on a person’s ability to integrate interpersonal skills into day to day activities. Without such skills, there is bound to be conflict in one’s personal life making it difficult to achieve personal goals. In this perspective, it is necessary for a person to understand what areas of the personal life require improvement and set goals on how to improve these areas. One of my goals for interpersonal improvement in my personal life is time management. I need to work harder to improve my time management skills to fit the needs of my personal life. This will increase my efficiency
