The leadership role at a brand new community hospital can be very challenging, and can even require from the best of leaders to reevaluate their leadership styles. In my business ethics class, we learned that a good leader must establish corporate values and promote corporate ethics. They must embrace change, stress accountability, and responsibility. During my internship at the Hillsborough Hospital Campus, I had the privilege to meet and talked to managers from different department of the hospital to learn about their leadership style. Each of the managers I spoke to explained to me why their leadership style work best for them. Some of the managers felt that a transformational leader is essential to survive in the future because of the rapidly changing complex healthcare environment. Luzinski said, "Transformational leadership is formally defined as a leadership process that is systematic, consisting of purposeful and organized search for changes, systematic analysis, and the capacity to move resources from areas of lesser to greater productivity to bring about a strategic transformation." Strickler and the managers learning about their leadership style was an extremely important part of my internship. I learned that leadership is less about the leader 's needs, but more about the needs of the people in the organization they are leading. A few of the managers are new to their leadership roles and are developing their leadership styles by learning to adapt to the particular demands and challenges facing the organization. If management is efficiency in climbing the ladder, then it is leadership that determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall. To help individuals, teams and organizations to navigate the permanent white-water environment safely, Hitchcock (2013) suggested that there are three constants that provide stability in times of great uncertainty such as a change, a choice, and principles. The role of leadership has become increasing valuable for organizations to be successful. According to Huber (2014), Leadership can best be defined as method utilized to ensure that an objective is completed. There are many different types of leaderships that can be found within each organization. In this paper I will highlight an example of a specific leadership style that we come across in healthcare settings. I will review my leadership self-assessment results and discuss the impact of leadership on staff and groups.
Why now? Why are we focusing on transformational leadership? Healthcare costs are continuing to rise. Some of the critical problems and active debates prevalent in many hospital organizations include the rapidly intensifying healthcare costs, funding and reimbursement cutbacks, and concern regarding the overall quality and safety of health care. “Healthcare systems have come under pressure to improve performance and manage productivity” (Botting, 2011). To be successful in the 21st century, there is a demand on healthcare systems to have a vision and executive and clinical leadership to inspire the change process and make the difference between success and failure in change.

Bottom line: I do not find that my previous leadership positions as a Non-Commissioned Officer directly relate to my role as a warrant officer, in the sense that it is comparing apples and oranges, as my enlisted job was not flying helicopters. What my previous experience as an enlisted Soldier and Non-Commissioned Officer gave me was just that; experience.
Over the course of my professional career in different organizations in the past three years, I have worked under many managers. This has been a learning curve for me to understand the different managing styles and leadership characteristics of people. One of the managers whom I worked under, was the lead in a government project which also happened to be my last project before I took a break for continuing my studies, is a person I admire till date. Leadership is increasingly important in today's society. Many experts and scholars point out that the current leadership crisis concerns moral and character problems in many leaders (Ahn, Ettner, & Loupin, 2012; Callahan, 2004; Wright & Quick, 2011). The following interview report is intended primarily for exploration and comparison of the traits and characteristics of leadership. A leader of a clinical medicine centre was interviewed for this report. The purpose of this report is to explore the leadership characters and traits, and how they can be developed in this turbulent environment. First, I make a brief introduction regarding the background of the respondent and her working environment. The report also describes this leader's personal and subjective perceptions in relation to a literature review which investigates the traits and characteristics of leadership. The report concludes with a comparison and discussion of the results of the clinical condition on the basis of the interview and literature review. At the same time, the report aims to put forward feasible and effective advice and specific programs for present and future leaders and managers in the health care system.
Over the last thirteen years I have worked under a leader who would be classified as having a shared leadership style, where a team is created, decisions are made, and then delegation takes place. Rarely is the topic revisited unless new information is gained, or other factors contribute to the team needing to come back together to reevaluate their position on the matter. I have grown to respect this type of leadership especially the aspect of being able to work independently and being trusted on my level of experience in a particular subject matter. During my time at the labyrinth, I had enough time for myself to think about myself. I believe that if people want to learn about themselves, they should be part of the evaluation at the labyrinth. Before I went to the labyrinth, I thought that it was a waste of time, but experiencing the labyrinth helped me realize that the labyrinth helps people find themselves in a way that helps you find out what type of leader you are. A leader is an individual who leads the team with all respect and care, never lets a member of the team to stay behind when all others are moving forward. For instance, during my under graduation days back in India, we were assigned a project to be completed within a span of 25 days. We were a group of 6 individuals, with mutual consent we opted one of our friend to lead the team. The work to be completed was distributed equally among all the members of the team.
