Strengths Assessment Stephanie M Fiamengo Azusa Pacific University Strengths Assessment Prior to this course I had no knowledge of the strength theory nor did I look at people with the intention of identifying and building upon their strengths. Like many others, I focused on weaknesses and how I could improve them; my inner drive for perfection left me with no other choice. However, in light of my new found knowledge, I am excited to not only continue my own work as a student and professional, but to also use this insight as a lens for how I view those I work with and those that work under me. The strengths theory and strengths psychology are an incredible and radical way of approaching work and relationships. It is an exciting, inspiring, and forgiving approach to humanity and life. Donald Clifton and Chip Anderson’s StrengthsQuest (2004) revolutionized the way I view myself and the way I look at others. I am confident that I have not only developed a deeper understanding of what I am good at, but also why I am good at it. I feel an increased sense of confidence that I can tackle any challenges that come my way because I know how to apply what I am good at and I need not wallow in what I am not good at it. Similarly, it facilitated a deeper understanding of how to relate to my coworkers and the staff I supervise by seeking out what they are good at and asking them to do that. It has been a morale booster in my work place and has undeniably increased the outcomes of my employee’s performance. In the following, I will identify my top five strengths and describe the ways in which they present themselves in both my academic and professional lives. I will share the ways in which I anticipate that I wi... ... middle of paper ... ...the belief factor in a professional setting to assist others in setting high goals for themselves rather than imposing goals that I imagine for them based on the inner potential I can see. In the future, I intend to purposefully utilize belief to continue working on increased cultural sensitivity by actively trying to understand the values of others and appreciating them even if they differ from my own. I intend to actively and cognitively utilize these values as a guide for my life, work, and schooling. Finally, I anticipate that I will now purposefully seek out work and friendships with people and organizations that maintain core values that are aligned with my values. I was excited to take the Gallup Strengths Finder assessment. Although I am more reserved and shy, I typically find myself placed in leadership positions. I am always surprised when people refer to me as a leader but family members and close friends have made me more aware of this personality characteristic. I really enjoyed taking the Gallup Strength Finder assessment and I can see why this would be an assessment growing in popularity across the globe. When I finished the assessment, my results showed that my strengths, from first to last, are developer, empathy, input, connectedness, and restorative.

The five themes from my Clifton Strengths Report overwhelmingly echoed what I already see as active assets in my personal and professional roles. My five attributes in order from highest to lowest are Activator, Command, Woo, Communication, and Futuristic. These have aided and sometimes cause misunderstandings, but these are elements I have learned to hone, define, and exercise in order to develop others under my charge and myself.

Positive psychology refers to strengths as positive qualities we each have as individuals. There are a few base principles to remember when working on strengths. It is important to value and develop individual talents, maintain healthy relationships, reflect on successes, practice, and teach others. It is important to focus on strengths and manage weaknesses. Our schools of today need to find ways to promote students into using their individual strengths. In classrooms individual talents should be valued and developed. For instance, one student in a class may be very strategic who is able to see patterns and issues within a project. This same class may also have someone analytical who likes to search for reasons as causes. A teacher who was taught to look for and recognize these strengths could draw on the strategic thinker to share with the class the patterns and issues they see ...
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but

For personal and professional growth, given my personality traits, I need to embrace my strengths and weaknesses. I must use my strengths to my advantage, to be more effective academically and in the workplace, but I also need to identify and try to overcome my weaknesses, especially professionally.
Being able to know individual strengths and weaknesses is so crucial in our lives other than our careers. It is not only the positivity 's that matters, the negativities are very crucial too because they make us work harder to improving and getting better in what we do by helping us to achieve our goals after going through all those experiences. I have rated myself as a nurse by using the nurse manager inventory tool and saw a lot of competences on my experiences/skills. I also rated my strength and weaknesses. "According to Merriam-Webster 's collegiate(R) dictionary, Strength is defined as the quality or state of being strong" (Strength. 2012). "Weaknesses is defined as lack of strength" (Weakness. 1997). "Self-Understanding helps individual in his or her recognition of weaknesses assisting the person to overcoming any shortcomings in the nursing field" (Carson, 2005). To be a good leader, you must be empowered with the Knowledge on strengths and weaknesses. "Personal accountability hold us responsible for the work that we do followed by the quality of their actions by others (Basset, 2005). With this paper, I will be able to write after rating myself on strengths and weaknesses in connection to personal and professional accountability, career planning, personal journey discipline, and reflective practice reference /tenets. Again, I am going to discuss on how to use current leadership skill to advocate for change at workplace. Finally, I am going to recognize and implementation plan on achieving personal goal on leadership growth.
Through the self-assessment instruments utilized in this program, I have gained wealth of knowledge about my strengths, and weaknesses and how they affect my personal and professional life. By using different exercises, I recognized new strengths and weaknesses. At the same time, I identified ways to develop my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (LSI) identified some of my strengths as the ability to get things done, initiating, and taking risks (Kolb, 2007). In the Strongest Self Feedback Exercise, some of the feedback listed my strengths as having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being self-confident, a fast learner, determined, hardworking, and an awesome listener (Drucker, 2005).
Part I. Strengths Personal Profile System Two strengths I learned during my Self Awareness assessment were being a good listener and showing loyalty. I really try to be a good listener in all situations. I like to hear the whole story or complete process, whatever it may be. I am cautious about making decisions without having all the details.

Values make up a large part of our life and influence the decisions we make. I will continue to live my life with honesty and I aim to become a person of integrity, my ambition and work ethic will help me develop into a better being. I don’t doubt that my values will carry me on to a successful and fulfilling life. Without my family and friends I would have not been able to reach the point where I am today, and I would not be able to personally grow and develop my own way of living and personal beliefs. These influences will help guide me to the path of becoming a decent man. Fortunately, I have my spirituality in hopes to continue growing and develop a better understanding of everything around me.
In my Learning team, my personal strength is having good people skills. I meet and get involved with new people everyday whether it be work or school related. I enjoy speaking, listening and giving input to my team members so that they are aware that they can count on me to participate as a team player in our Learning Team. Good people skills are very important in a group setting because of all the di...
