I cannot say much as to how she acts as a project manager within the March of Dimes organization, but when it came to taking on the role of a project manager directing an intern she was rather inactive. Throughout the duration of my internship tasks were not often clearly defined. I was assigned rather menial tasks with very little instruction as to how to complete them and sometimes was left feeling lost and feeling like I didn’t want to be a bother to my supervisor. It seemed as if Ms. Benanti never had a set project plan in mind, and her choice to “wing it” left lots of gaps throughout the experience. Ms. Benanti was aware for approximately a month that I would be interning for the organization and failed to organize anything for me to do. She made it clear that I was beginning at a busy time for the organization, and I tried to be understanding of that, but the hecticness of what was happening within my supervisors work drew nearly all her focus away from me and what I needed to accomplish. My supervisor created absolutely no sense of control over me as an intern and for the most part left me to my own devices. My superiors became an example to me of what a project manager should not be, at least in the sense of project managing an
The purpose of this document is to compare and contrast three different Linux vendors in regards to their specific server and workstation OS products they offer in the workplace. In addition, I will discuss the price for each vendor, specifications, performance, and reliability. The three vendors I would like to discuss are Arch Linux, Red Hat Enterprise, and Ubuntu. Linux is an operating system that has several distros to choose from. Linux allows the user more control of the system and greater flexibility. As an open operating system, Linux is developed collaboratively, meaning no one company is solely responsible for its development or ongoing support. Companies participating in the Linux economy share research and development costs with
Project management is a subset of operations management. Project management has a defined beginning and end, and is usually time-constrained (Satterlee, 2013). The stages of project management are the proposal, the initial investigation, a detailed investigation, development and testing, a trial, operation and closure, and the final step of evaluation. Project management and project scheduling are major issues for any organization facing rapid changes in its environment (Demeulemeesre, Kolisch, & Salo, 2012).

The best project managers are those who consistently deliver, on time and within budget, projects that meet or exceed stakeholders ' expectations. In today's business it is in the best interest of companies to have project managers. Common sense isn't always easily accomplished. Anyone who's ever worked on a project in a technical setting knows this. Indeed, much of working with others consists of solving unexpected problems and learning from mistakes along the way. Knowing this and having the proper tools a project manager will be able to manage and complete the most intense project out there.
Quality Project Reflection For my quality project, I decided to buy and sell stocks to better understand the inner workings of the stock market. By completing extensive research --reading books such as Buffett: The Making of An American Capitalist and watching films such as The Big Short-- I was able to not only gain a better understanding of the stock market, but to also experience it first-hand. To document my work, I created a stock portfolio to analyze each of my stock choices. Through this entire process, I gained a lot of valuable insights.
The projects in today’s world are given a lot of importance and it will continue to grow in the coming years. There are a lot of companies which do not have production, but all of them do have projects. There are a lot of books which have been published on which related to planning and managing the projects. The one of the most important one was published by the author Eli Goldratt in his book ‘Critical chain’. Project management is a discipline based on careful planning, organization, motivation and control of resources to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria. Since every project is unique in nature, a project manager must learn to adapt and identify key areas to drive success. Thus, as a learning initiative, we were given a project to manage through a simulation program named Sim4Project. The emphasis of this simulation was on learning-by-doing, just like in a real-life project. Sim4Project provided a good mix of theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience. Professor Leonie gave feedbacks at the end of each period to ensure we were incorporating the project management principles learned in the classroom.
Project management is said to be completed within time when it completed within the “triple constraints”: cost, time and quality. And in a lot of causes, one them is sacrificed so as to meet the other two. Project managers prioritize which ones are the most important.
The topic of my group (group 4) was “How to totally float through your project for free” and the presentation was held by Roger Goodman who works for PMI NZ and Ernst & Young supply chain management with many years of working experience in many different countries such as Saudi Arabia and China.

Organizations strongly need experienced project managers to lead their staff to accomplish their business goals and deliver successful projects. In an increasingly complex environment, project managers need to turn into many roles and have all kinds of responsibilities at each level of management within an organization. Good project managers are not born. They need to be trained. They develop their skills through study, practise and experience. They become better project managers after they finish a successful project each time. They learn new techniques and apply them on their projects. They learn their lessons from failed projects and then improve to be better project managers in the future.
Project managers have to improve their skills every day to deal with the organizational change and especially the world’s Megatrends. However, it can be a challenge for a project manager to comprehend what skills they should be improved, what sections of project management knowledge that should be tried to perceive, and how to measure and enhance their performance.
Taking this class this semester has really changed the way that I have viewed myself when it has come to work and the different companies that I have worked before. I have taken a psychology class before but I have never taken one that relates to management and organizations. This class has really helped me answer different questions such as why I was unhappy at some jobs, enjoyed some managers over others, and what motivated me to work hard at jobs. It’s good to learn that there are different terms and definitions for different feeling and things I experienced at jobs to know that their other people experiencing these things also. I will be going into a management position after I graduate, and this class helped me to learn many different ways to go about managing and things to avoid to keep a positive working environment.
