Physical Wellness To me physical wellness is definitely one aspect, of the five dimensions, I know I need to work on improving. Recently I has blood work done, it’s showed I had low vitamin b-12, vitamin d, and potassium. This really opened my eyes and made me realize I need to work on taking better care of my physical wellness. I plan on eating a larger variety of foods; as well as, keeping track and planning what I eat. Along with these changes to my diet I plan on taking a multi-vitamin, along with the vitamin d the campus doctor prescribed me. I have had to work on keeping my mental health good my entire life. I have always struggled with anxiety and obsessive tendencies. I recently addressed this problem, and I sought out medical help. I am now on medication and my emotional wellness has improved tremendously. Things aren’t perfect, but one thing I have learned is you have to accept flaws and work with them. I keep my mind opening to counseling, even though I am not in need of it now, because I know it could be beneficial.
As I mentioned, my emotion health isn’t perfect. I still plan on improving certain aspects and specific habits. Certain aspects I plan to improve are my negative thoughts whenever I do assignments. I have gotten into a habit of talking down of myself and thinking the work I complete for school isn’t up to the standards it should be. I have recently tried replacing my pessimistic thoughts with optimistic thoughts. A bad habit I have is sitting on my phone for a long period of time, procrastinating homework. Not to mention, scrolling through social media all the time can be exhausting. I believe it is good to stayed informed, but always being concerned about news can be a bad thing. I believe in Christianity, to further my spiritual life I am involved in my faith. Since coming to college I have joined Cru, an on campus ministry, and I have found a church in the area to go to on Sunday’s. Along with these practices, I also listen to Christian contemporary music whenever I am driving. Music really helps me spiritually and it is something I resonate with. Other than my religious beliefs I am spiritual in other ways and I try to be mindful of multi-cultural beliefs. I like to meditate and focus on good energy, and I like to bring good energy to others. For myself, I have cut out meat because I feel like it is the moral thing to do for me. I like to practice peace, and I felt I couldn’t do so while eating a sentient being. Although I can hide these factions of my life fairly well sometimes I do slip and it becomes very noticeable. The main way I feel I can combat this emotion strife is to find ways to motivate myself. The best way to do this is to seek professional help when I need it and to spend time with people who make me happy and motivated. By engaging in happy and friendly activities with family, friends, and loved ones I should be able to build up optimism. In doing so fighting low self esteem and low self confidence will be easier and almost immediate. Thus working on these factors will motivate and assist me in accomplishing my overall target behavior of doing regular check-ups and recognizing symptoms of disease.

People spend millions of dollars every year on drugs that they are convinced that will help you lose weight, grow hair, reduce stress, anxiety, and plenty of other things. I wish I could have all of the money they have wasted on those products. What if they knew of something that would help them lose weight, improve cardiovascular health, help control stress, help improve muscle, bone, and joint health, benefit diabetic problems, and could do many other things to benefit their health? Exercise is something that is proven to help all of these things, but not a lot of people exercise on a regular basis. This is something that you do not have to pay for, so what is stopping everyone from exercising? There are many positive effects of exercising and very little negative effects. I wonder how much a pill that helped all of those things would set you back?

You have to make good, healthy choices to be physically well. Eating healthy, exercising, and seeing a doctor on a regular basis for check-ups are all conducive to physical wellness. Some good examples of people who have achieved physical wellness are; Lance Armstrong and the Venus and Serena Williams.
Ways people quit smoking are by mental and note form reminders of why they are quitting, rewarding themselves, distraction, using gum or healthy snacks e.g celery and carrots, exercise, drinking cool water and nicotine patches or supplements.
When thinking of my overall health, a few aspects stand out that I think I could definitely improve on. When I think my current personal wellness I think it is fairly decent. There are definitely people out there far worse than myself. It could be better because there is always room for improvement. I’m a big fan of personal growth. To me if a person decides to stop growing or wanting to better themselves either mentally, physically or emotiontally. Then whats the real purpose for living? I am a fairly active person. I love to hike, stay fit and eat healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t hard for me which I think definitely contributes to a wellness.
Knowing what each of these dimensions of wellness requires can feel overwhelming. However, one should not be discouraged because of what they lack, but look forward to the improvement we are capable of bringing to our own lives. Becoming more spiritual will always be beneficial. Anytime one can improve their relationship with God one can improve their life astronomically. Emotional wellness is possible even for those who have been through horrible experiences. Practicing emotional wellness can bring healing. Physical and nutritional wellness will lead to a longer, pleasanter life and social wellness will make that life worth living. Sharing a well life with family, friends, and God will make time on this earth an irreplaceable experience.
Health psychology has been an appealing subject to me because it is relatable on many levels. Of the topics we have covered in class I think unit 3 have left the deepest impression. Stress is something everyone can relate to but probably understood on the minimum. Stress is a common experience for university students and without an exception I fall victim to it every time an exam or presentation comes up. Learning about this topic, what stress is, what it does to your body, how it affects your behavior has lead me to reflect upon past experiences in a way that I can learn to better cope with the effects of stress.
Wellness is defined as “an active life-long process of becoming aware of and making choices to achieve optimal health and a more successful and balanced existence” (Ren et al., 2007). Wellness incorporates the spiritual, emotional and social wellbeing of an individual. When it came to thinking, planning and developing my SMART goal I decided to focus on my physical health as this was an area that I needed to improve the most and would also contribute positively to my spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual and environmental wellbeing aswell. In this reflective essay I will discuss and reflect on this journey. This reflection will include why I decided to focus on this specific SMART goal aswell as how I found the SMART goal journey. I will then discuss my own view on my attitudes for health and wellness and will discuss what a SMART goal is and the importance of them in order to start working towards those goals and to positively change behaviours and habits. This reflection will also include challenges that may be experienced in relation to behaviour change. These may include time management and motivation.

Healthy living is a change not everyone is willing to do. Even with small replacements in your daily life, you can start to see big changes in how your body starts working. Maintaining a healthy life style can benefit your life in many ways. Being healthy can improve your bodies ability to stand against infections or diseases. It can also aid in giving you more energy, as well as helping you sleep better. Another advantage to keeping a healthy life style is you'll be stronger, and feel better about the way your body feels. Despite the overly expensive food or the pricey monthly bills from the gym you hardly go too, simple steps can assist you in living a long healthy life without the extra effort.

During the first week, my activity level was low due to stress and the new session starting. I would just go to college, come home, and study. Managing time was difficult. However, as the week passed by, I was able to assign some time to exercise and joined the gym during the second week. My activity level for the second week was moderate. I would go to the gym three days in a week and work on the weekends. In the three days when I was in gym, I allotted 20 minutes for cardio and distributed 30-50 minutes on weights, different machines, and exercises. Therefore, I think my activity level was adequate. Any individual that leads a healthy lifestyle will say that healthy living is more than just a fad or goal, it’s a way of life. Changing certain aspects of one’s current lifestyle to become healthier is not the final goal, rather, the objective of setting these short and long term goals is maintenance. Therefore, I choose to change an aspect of my current lifestyle that I felt would facilitate the improvement of my health and would later become a change that I can maintain over the course of my life; I choose to increase the amount of water I drink per day to improve my inner bodily health. I decided on this change because I feel that setting a smaller goal that I could easily monitor and execute will expedite future changes to my lifestyle,

The impact these seven different dimensions have on our health they are, physical, intellectual, psychological, spiritual, social, environmental, and occupational all play a role in our health. All in so many different ways working together to make a brighter and happier healthier us. These seven dimensions make up whom we are and how we live our life is all based upon how we balance these dimensions.
