People spend millions of dollars every year on drugs that they are convinced that will help you lose weight, grow hair, reduce stress, anxiety, and plenty of other things. I wish I could have all of the money they have wasted on those products. What if they knew of something that would help them lose weight, improve cardiovascular health, help control stress, help improve muscle, bone, and joint health, benefit diabetic problems, and could do many other things to benefit their health? Exercise is something that is proven to help all of these things, but not a lot of people exercise on a regular basis. This is something that you do not have to pay for, so what is stopping everyone from exercising? There are many positive effects of exercising and very little negative effects. I wonder how much a pill that helped all of those things would set you back? There are very few people that I come in contact with that would say that they never get stressed out. I am a college and I basically stay stressed and especially when it is time for midterms or finals. I began walking about three months ago and it has helped me tremendously. There are chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters that are stimulated while exercising. These neurotransmitters are responsible for balancing our moods and emotions and that can make you feel better and less stressed. In only one exercise session, you produce 90 to 120 minutes of relation response and some people call that state post-exercise euphoria or endorphin response. Exercising can make you feel much better about yourself, and the feeling of self-worth contributes a great deal to stress relief. Exercising helps you reduce your weight, help you fight obesity, and maintain your w... ... middle of paper ... ... the end of your pregnancy, you often have trouble sleeping, and by exercising, it tires you and makes you work off extra energy so that you can sleep during the night. Exercise also assists in preparing you for childbirth by shortening labor, having fewer medical problems, and giving you endurance. I do not know any woman who would not appreciate those things. Exercise is very beneficial to everyone that wants to stay fit and to keep their health in good shape for the future. I know many people that work out just thirty minutes a day and eat healthy and they are in the greatest shape of their life. So during the times you feel fat and lazy and just do not want to get up off the couch. Think if you go to your nearest gym and workout for thirty minutes to an hour you will feel so much better with yourself, and have so much energy throughout your day.
Forest fires kill many animals and usually destroy a large amount of land. Prescribed burns seem like they would be the best idea, but are they? Their claim to fame is to clear out land in order to decrease the burning space for when an actual forest fire occurs. Yet this may seem like a brilliant idea, but one must look at the negative aspects of controlled burnings. People might have a change of heart when they realize the damages and effects of such an interesting act. Keep in mind that not only is your health involved but even such things as the inconvenience of dealing with a smoky town. It is important to understand that prescribed burns cause severe health problems especially to firefighters; these are concerning carbon monoxide poisoning, visibility issues and health risks that will affect the future.
Health visitors are registered nurses who undergo extra training to work in the community with families and children under five. The main principles of health visiting are to ensure that children have a healthy and positive start to life by recognising health needs, encouraging health enhancing activities and influencing health policies (Craig and Lindsay, 2000). Health visitors provide the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) which allows all families access to services ranging from immunisations through to safeguarding. Although health visitors play a key part in the healthcare of families and children they also work closely with other health professionals in order to help families achieve optimum health. This essay will describe the health visiting role in more depth as well as discuss why immunisations are a key role in the health promotion undertaken by a health visitor.
Furthermore I feel like pornography does affect a teenager’s mindset because once they watch it once they got to watch it twice. And that causes them to have a whole new outlook to the world and relationships.
As stated above, there are many benefits of exercise beginning with mental health. A Penn State University study found that “those who exercised, whether it was a mild, moderate or vigorous workout, had more pleasant feelings than those who didn’t.”
One of the main benefits of exercise is that it helps with weight control. “To reap the benefits of exercise, just get more active throughout your day — take the stairs instead of the elevator or rev up your household chores. Consistency is key” (http://www.mayoclinic.org). Just like changing to a vegetarian/vegan diet, exercise can also lower the effects of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and even cancers. “Heart disease and stroke are two of the leading causes of death in the United States. But following the Guidelines and getting at least 150 minutes a week (2 hours and 30 minutes) of moderate-intensity aerobic activity can put you at a lower risk for these diseases” (https://www.cdc.gov). Type 2 diabetes can be prevented because it can lower the high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and high blood sugar. Exercise can also help to reduce breast and colon cancer as research has shown. In comparison to a vegan/vegetarian diet, exercise can also help to strengthen you bones and muscles. Exercise can also help lower the loss of bone density that comes with age. Lastly, exercise helps to better your mental health. Research has shown that exercise can help with mild depression and stress. Exercise “promotes all kinds of changes in the brain, including neural growth, reduced inflammation, and new activity patterns that promote feelings of calm and well-being. It also releases endorphins,
Forest fires or better known as wildfires are one of the most devastating events that could happen to anyone whom reside where they may occur. The imagery of forest fires portrays them as one of the most horrific things that could happen to humanity due to all the materialistic damage that they cause. News outlets show keep us updated on how long the fire burns and how many firefighters lose their lives battling these fires. In the years, 2011, 2012, and 2013 five federal agencies spent 1.73 million,1.9 million, and 1.74 million dollars consecutively on material that would be used to suppress forest fires. (Tecle & Neary, 2015). Some fires are control burned to clear brush for construction or just to promote the growth of fresh vegetation. Other wildfires are produced from extreme drought conditions and prove to be quite an inconvenience for local firefighters. The fires burn for hours, days, and maybe even weeks. The damage is more than the charred land and burned brush that we can see with our naked eye. The effect of these fires has a much costlier tag than what we can associate to a monetary value. Wildfires damage our ecosystem and other factors of our environment. The environment of the water body itself is altered and has no bounds of the types of effects that may
By definition, a wildfire is a highly flammable composition that is difficult to extinguish (Dictionary.com). They are started in many different ways by humans and nature (Forest Fires - An Overview). Many of the fires could be easily avoided, but are not because people are careless when they handle fire. For example, a camper can become preoccupied with the hike the next day, or the camper sees wildlife and wanders away from their campfire. A breeze comes through the area and breathes life into the seemingly harmless fire. Your “controlled fire” of leaves or sticks can easily be taken over by Mother Nature if just one tree catches on fire. Smokers also dispose their cigarette butts on the ground thinking the flame is out when in reality it is not. Your campfire, debris fire, or cigarette butt just caught California on fire.
I decided to begin my first search on the Internet. Since I had access to both a computer, and an Internet connection, I had no issues in that regard. The first article that I explored was called “Wildfires,” from the National Geographic website. In the article I learned that, depending on the wind condition, wildfires can have different reactions. For example, in the article, they stated that, “wildfires can burn acres of land and consume everything in their paths in mere minutes” (“Wildfires”). I also learned the positive effects that wildfires has on the environment. For example, naturally-occurring wildfires are fundamental in nature, as they return nutrients to the soil by burning dead trees, plants, and land. They also act as disinfectant, by removing poison plants, insects, and all sorts of dangerous species (“Wildfires”). That 's the information that I learned from the article, and while it wasn 't much, I did manage to find key information. I also
California alone was estimated at “2 billion” in funds during wildland season according to Arun Malik. In the forest service they have been managing fire for over 100 years. Spending tons and tons of money managing the forest every year. Managing the forest is great, it minimizes the outcome. It will not stop the fire entirely, however it will prevent mass destruction of the forest, and prevent communities and peoples property from getting destroyed. Close to 3,500 people caused wildland fires in the past 10 years. Which is understandable, most wild fires are caused by people, and people are not going to change, there is always going to be that one person that throws the match or lighter on the ground and walks away. Like I was saying fires are getting expensive and is a big issue in forestry
The potential for wildfires has increased in the Western United States over the last several years. Scientists and researchers tout climate change with increasing temperatures as well as drought as the main culprit of the increasing number of wildfires. It is projected that rising temperatures will continue and lead to even more frequent, large, and severe wildfires as well as even longer wildfire seasons (Cleetus & Mulik, 2014). It is crucial to find ways to prevent and reduce costs associated with wildfires in these western states. The effects of wildfires hit areas environmentally and economically. These effects are often felt several years after wildfires occur.
Fire is an important part of many ecosystems, affecting wildlife populations in various ways, such as by changing habitat, affecting food supply or quality, or by altering interactions of species. Fire suppression has allowed forested areas to achieve a climax state, which provides less forage for wildlife. While terrestrial wildlife is benefited by fire, large fires through the increase in sediment flow negatively impact aquatic ecosystems. Fire is essential in maintaining biological diversity in the Northern Rocky Mountain forests.

Life is full of troubles, demands, pressures and hassles—these are all factors related to stress. Stress is a state of mental or emotional tension resulting from adverse or difficult situations (Merriam-Webster). When you are in potential danger, your body responds with a “fight-or-flight” response to protect you from any harm. Situations like being robbed at gunpoint or studying last minute the night before the test can activate stress in your body. Although situations in life can increase stress, there are plenty of methods to diminish it. Methods like meditating, talking to family/friends, drinking tea, or even taking a quick nap--all of these methods are proven effective (The Franklin Institute). One method that is prominent to many is physical exercise. Exercise is considered to improve physical conditions and strength, but maintains mental fitness in the process. Although many assume that exercising is healthy, some may not be familiar of how it relieves stress in detail. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of exercise, the pros and cons must be considered. Some pros are: managing the levels of stress in your body, boosting your self-esteem, and improving learning and memory. The cons are: being time consuming and tedious, being costly and expensive, and risking injury while exercising. Let’s look at the pros of physical activity.
