During our group activity we discussed how to write a proper objective and what we can do to improve our rough drafts. The hardest part of this challenge for the group members were determining how to correctly develop an objective for their proposal. The easiest part of this challenge for the group was figuring out where we messed up on in our rough draft to our proposal. During this group activity all the group members acted very supportive and helpful to each other. During this activity I acted very informative, I helped several of my members understand exactly what they need to do for there objective in there proposal. During this activity, group member shared different ways to write an objective. We also shared where we messed …show more content…
As for the group members, they acted very kind and respectful to me. Something I did during this group session that made me feel proud of my self was that I was able to help my group members understand the main idea of the objective for the proposal. However, something that I did during the group session that made me unhappy was that I didn’t know how to help my group with the proposal in the section where we have to write processing …show more content…
We all have similar qualities and we all get along very well. Moreover, as far our active listening skills are we are all very good. Everyone is always engaged on who ever is speaking during the group activity. Furthermore, something I would do differently as a result of what I learned during this group session is that I would have all the member try to stay more focused on the topic that we are discussing because sometimes we get off of topic and when this happens we are wasting precious time that we could’ve been using to learn more useful information on what we are discussing in the
On one visit throughout my community and common environment I was able to observe three separate groups. Within this paper I will describe each group individually provide detailed information regarding body language of the group individually.
The general purpose is to engage the students with a provided curriculum and play time for the children. Between these sessions includes various breaks where the students have time for breakfast, and lunch. The agenda is a way to better engage and develop the students through early education. The teachers plan the schedule catered to certain needs of the children, such as speech, behavioral, and psychological thoughts.
I think our group worked well together. We got along nicely and did the work we were supposed to do. During collaboration, what worked was going downstairs or into the collaboration room. It really helped us focus on what we needed to get done. Sometimes, however, we wouldn't do our work and just goof off, but we ended up getting all of our work done on time. Some strategies that helped our
For example, my group communicates quite clearly and effectively with one another, which has created more of a positive sense of equal interaction and bond between each member over the course.
I decided to observe five different groups for this paper. I chose rednecks, burnouts, two different groups of athletes, and musicians. These observations were mostly made at school in the hallways, classrooms, lunch, or in the parking lot. All of the groups were easily observable, they just had to be done at different times throughout the day. The rednecks for example were more easily observable in the school parking lot, whereas the athletes were more observable in the hallways.
For my project, I have selected the project is the College Democrats Club, this club was chosen because of how active they are in the area, both inside and outside of Creighton. This club has regular meetings of at least once a week along with additional meetings with state representatives and other local political figures. Their goal is to provide students with an outlet to become knowledgeable and informed voters who are able to educate and create and environment based off of democratic values. Due to their activity in the communities they will be a prime community to map and will be able to provide the information for this project needed with great ease. I feel this is an appropriate community because of its ease of accessibility, agreed
The group couldn't seem to find time for us to meet and plan our presentation, the first and only time all group members were present to work on the presentation was on the morning of the presentation. We worked on it and at the time I believed we had agreed on our final product, I personally felt all the slides needed at this point was editing and final touches to make it visually appealing for the audience. I went online to the google presentation we were using as a group to prepare our presentation and was surprised to see a different layout, additional slides, and contents which were different from what we as a group had worked on and approved as the final work we were going to present. I confronted the group members as to the changes on the slides and we had a conflict of what our
In order to evaluate my role within the group, it is important to identify what makes a group. A group must firstly consist of more than three members, “Two members have personal relationships; with three or more there is a change in quality” of the personal relationship. (Bion 1961, p26) The group must have a common purpose or a goal in order to succeed. Having now completed my group work task, I can look back and reflect upon the process that my group went through to get to the presentation end point.
Based on the small group that I joined in communication class, I will talk about what is working well and what is getting in the way in our group. Then I will discuss about what I can do to improve the group and the things about group project if there is a chance for a start over again. At last, I am also going to talk about what I think that I learned is an important lesson in this semester.
Through the process of this class I have been able to reflect and analyze how I am as a leader as well as a co-leader in a group setting. I believe throughout this process of being part of a group as a member and leader has help me further define the roles that I will play in group counseling in the future. The evolution that I am seeing are an abundance of growth in areas that I thought I was already comfortable in such as being an active listener and co-leading. I see that there are more to becoming a powerful leader and facilitator. There are various aspects of becoming a well rounded group leader as learning the skills to endure especially building your endurance. Also, being able to take risks, being competent and confidence in your ability to lead a group of any sorts. Moreover, I have found that my communication style has shifted especially learning about the process in which you communicate your informal introduction as well as the lingo that is being used as a counselor. Also, the way in which we approach each member of
From the beginning, where we were unfamiliar with each other and became a team, my team and I had started to learn each other name and getting to know each other. Throughout each meeting, we slowly start to feel more comfortable and open minded with each other. Not only are we getting familiar with each other, each meeting that was held we progress of becoming an effective team member, we learn our strengths and weaknesses of everyone. During the meetings, we learn many concepts from the textbook, “Communicating in Small Groups: Principles and Practices” by Steven A. Beebe and John T. Masterson. We were able to learn different types of concept in the textbook and utilized it as a team to complete certain tasks. The three concepts that impacted my team and I are human
My co-operative behavior and the agreeable behavior I exhibited contributed to the harmony and the success of the group. The co-operation that was exhibited was relative to prompt arrival to meetings, meeting group deadlines, and thorough participation in the discussions and the forums of the group. While I was indeed co-operative for most of the group sessions, I was not afraid to speak my mind. My strongest writing skills were illustrated with the expression and analysis of the benefits and the drawbacks associated with the group project.
TEAMWORK The teamwork is usually defined as the process of working together in a group to achieve a common goal. These days, working in groups is inevitable. Whether it is a school assignment or working in a clinical setting, we have to work in groups to accomplish a task. We cannot expect to work in isolation all the time. As far as our team is concerned, they worked in an organised manner to accomplish the task within the deadline.
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
