Reflection On Stress Diary

Part B: During my two-week period I started a “stress diary’ documenting my progress with putting the four A’s into action in my life to relieve stress. Firstly, the four A’s refer to: Avoid, Alter, Adapt and Accept. I first tried putting the first A into practice, being Avoid. During this three day cycle I specifically tried to say “no” to tasks people asked me to do that I knew I didn’t have time for, I avoided people and situations that cause me stress and I made daily “to-do” lists explicitly outlining all the tasks that needed to be completed for that particular day in order of priority. I did this through looking for the bright side of every situation, trying not to control things that can’t be controlled and by sharing my feeling about situations, either positive or negative, in a calm, respectful and kind way. By putting all these things into practice my stress levels were drastically decreased. Holistically I was happier, calmer, I could sleep better and was feeling more energized than before. I am ecstatic that I decided to try this method to reduce my stress and will recommend it to anyone. 2.1. I will continue to use the 4 A’s and a Personal Stress Diary. In addition to this I will use exercise as a distraction from stress and a tool to release endorphins to uplift my mood when I’m feeling tired and overworked. Above that I will also alter my diet to include more healthy foods which will also give me more energy and improve the overall look of my skin, allowing me to be more self-confident. 2.2. I chose to add exercise to my plan as I am a very active person in general and enjoy being outdoors. I also tend to eat a lot of junk food which I realize is a bad habit and decided that making it part of my plan would be beneficial to me and my health.
