Our perception of time can be very distorted, preventing us from making changes that can drastically improve our life. It can be invaluable to take a step back and take a look at your time usage. To accomplish this, I recorded my activities and tabulated the percentages of time spent for an entire week. Through analyzing the time diary, by creating categories, I am able to gain valuable insight into my time habits. To see past bias and recognize patterns allows enhanced utilization of time. Video games involved playing with friends from my home computer whenever I had a descent window of opportunity to play. Meeting up with friends at the Chinese restaurant or talking to them over Skype was another big leisure item while I was not playing games. Everything school and work related such as homework which was done nearly everyday, make up the school & work category. These two subjects are a huge aspect of our lives and contain a world within themselves. Together, they result in %%% of the week. Lastly, travel is the time consuming process that connects us with the different aspects of our lives. Travel includes any activity with the primary purpose of getting from one
Time allocation, or time management, is a trait that everyone is capable of. However, there are people who tend to manage their time better than others. People often find themselves wasting time on unimportant activities. The time wasted can depend on the type of person they are, though. Say there is a successful businessman. That man is less likely to waste his time doing something unimportant than a teenager who doesn’t have their priorities straight. In the story, ‘Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket”, Tom Benecke struggles with balancing the time spent on his work and time spent with his wife. In our generation, technology is all around us. Whether it be phones, computers, or video games, people are wasting away their lives doing activities

I often feel I am short of time when I have many things to do at one time point and this is very stressful. With effective time management, I discovered many ways in which I can be successful with the management of my time and able to adjust my schedules and to lower time stress. For example, I took time to check my everyday activity and where do I spend most of my time. By careful evaluation, I realize I spent my time browsing the internet which often focus on some of the unproductive things. I started making my time productive by active focusing on important goals which included fitness, scheduling important work to less important tasks every day and slowly I effectively organized myself.

1. Close your eyes and reflect for a moment on your memories of your first 6 years. A case study was performed on 4 students to observe how they managed their time. Once the observation was complete, the students were then given a time management technique to try out for a week and give feedback at the end. Depending on their feedback they were then given another technique that would better tailor to their liking. Throughout the study, the students showed various characteristics that made it difficult to pinpoint what was resulting in poor time management. After each technique was suggested to each subject, they would give their feedback at the end to better clarify what was causing their time-management. By the end of the study, the students showed different stages of the behavior change.

Self-reflection journals have provided me with a solid learning opportunity and have allowed for me to grow and develop as a writer. The journal writings allowed me to reflect on the different course components that I received in this course. The biggest course goal the self-reflection journals helped me to achieve is they allowed me to engage in informal writing to analyze and critically reflect on the lessons I learned as well as my implementation of them. They proved to be a valuable tool for me, because they added a process to my learning experience that I would not have engaged in otherwise. For example, usually when I learn material I am then asked to implement or demonstrate its use in some fashion whether it be by a writing assignment, quiz, etc.
