There are a plethora of reasons why I am qualified to receive this scholarship. All of the things that have happened to me up until this point have helped prepare/ make me the person I am today. The battles that I have had to face to get me to where I am today make me qualified for this scholarship. School, family and my community have all taught me valuable lessons that have made me who I am today. I am mature, have a realistic outlook on life and know what I want to do with my life. Throughout my high school career I tried to do my best academically. My last two years of high school I didn't accept anything less than the best. Whenever I was faced with a difficult subject or assignment and did whatever I had to do to understand it or to …show more content…
On top of my rigorous courses and my athletics, I also tried to get out in the community and volunteer as much a I could. I was involved in multiple clubs which gave me opportunities to get out in the community and volunteer. I have volunteered for a variety of things from picking up trash to handing out candy to children. By doing this I was able to see how donating a person's time to a cause can have a positive impact on the people around you. Volunteering taught me to more of a self-less person. Seeing the joy that volunteering can bring to people has made me that much more determined to have a positive impact on this world. Volunteering on topic of all the other things I was involved in was difficult to find the time for but, it was important to me so I found the time for it. High school has taught me how to balance my time between the things I love while still giving a valid effort in all of them. The fact that I want to help other people with me degree and improve society makes me qualified for this scholarship because, by giving me money, you are not only helping me but you would be making it easier for me to find time to do the things I love like volunteering. I won't need to spend as much time working to pay for my tuition and I can donate my free time
I have done so by participating in numerous activities, and when I commit to something, I put all my effort into it, to the fullest extent of my ability. This allows me to be able to meet and cultivate relationships with new people at Roswell High School that I would not have met otherwise. In forming these newfound friendships, I have been able to mature socially and emotionally; I learned to nurture my ability to empathize with others and to express my care and compassion for others more easily. This has allowed me to realize my true heart for people, and I have used these skills, along with my enthusiasm and sense of humor, to encourage an environment of school pride.
In a world where most college freshmen do not graduate or dropout, i feel like it would mean to much more to me to graduate and be able to say I got my degree. studies have said that half of freshman will not complete there degree, another study said that 25% of freshmen will change their major before they finish their sophomore year. If i was given this scholarship money it would put me in a place where hopefully I won't become just another statistic. Another reason a college degree is important for me to achieve is so that i will be respected in my work industry of choice. When you are in a place of work, there is always someone who everyone looks up to because they know the most about certain things, but more often than not that person has the highest degree in his or her field. If I was awarded this scholarship i would be more capable of being that person because i would not have to worry about leaving school to figure out how I will pay off my
Getting this scholarship was my jump start to furthering my education and I knew from there that I was going to prove statistics wrong. I knew I was going to college and that things were going to be different for me and I was going to make a difference. I won’t be the black kid who drops out of school, because my education is too important to
Feel I qualify for this scholarship because I love to help people. Through different experiences, such as sports and school, I have learned and demonstrated various leadership skills. Being a Link crew leader not only taught me how to be a leader but, it help me have faith in myself and to always look up to younger people. I joined link crew so I could help our new 10 graders find their way around, and to feel included and accepted at their new school. For example during orientation in august I was giving good amount of advice to my sophomore group to be able to survive high school since I am a senior this year This made me proud and humbled that I could make a huge impact in someone's life. Another reason is I am good at organization and
I always try my hardest in every subject. I take the responsibility of my classes extremely seriously because I consider schoolwork to be my top priority. I also have made the honor roll multiple times. I believe that all my hard work and dedication has paid off as I am nominated for the National Honors Society. Along with responsibility of school, I also have the responsibility of fulfilling my parent’s dreams. I have seen my parents work hard their entire life so they could to make my future better. Their dream is to see me becomes a doctor one day. Ever since high school started, I put forth my best effort to succeed in the future and hopefully make their dream come true. The responsibilities given to me by my teachers and parents have pushed me to keep on working and get things done on time. As I live up to more and more my responsibilities and promises, I have gained the trust of my parents, teacher, and friends. I think for a person to be truly be successful, honestly is important in academics and other areas of life along with dedication to accomplish your
It was during my second year of high school that I first heard of the Pruitt Memorial Scholarship. I suddenly felt hope for my future. Hope that I would be able to attend college, and hope that I would be given the chance to fight for my very large dreams. My passion is theatre and my goal is that someday I will be able to teach others about my passion and spread the magic of theatre around the world, but to be able to do that requires lots of education. The Pruitt Memorial Scholarship opened the door for me to pursue this dream. Now, I just had to acquire the scholarship, and that meant performing volunteer community-service.
I have tried my best all throughout high school and have taken challenging courses such as Calculus and Physics 2. I love a challenge and figuring how to complete one. No matter what the challenge is I will try my best to complete it. In classes such as Calculus or Chemistry, if a problem in class stumps me, I will bring it home just to figure it out and prove to myself I can do it. I do this even if it is not homework. I hope going to college will give me different challenges so I can prove that I am even more hard-working individual and this scholarship will help me get there. If I receive this scholarship, you would know it went to a hard-working student and the money would be put to good
The ultimate reason I deserve this scholarship is because I won’t disappoint you. I am very hardworking and I like to take on challenges. Getting this scholarship would help me achieve my dream.
I just liked to stay in the middle. I really didn 't feel like it mattered to me or to anyone if I did more than what was required of me. I never saw the need to go above and beyond when it came to school. The times that I have I never felt like i got anything from it. This is how many students feel and they shouldn 't feel this way. Mike Rose said in one of his articles “ I just wanna be average” that “He provided a role model that wasn 't shaped on physical prowess alone, and something inside me that I wasn 't quite aware of responded to that”. Mike Rose was a student who always wanted to just be average in school and never felt good if he ever went above and beyond. So one school year he had a teacher named MacFarland who helped him a ton and motivated him. She challenged him a lot and gave him a lot of work, readings, essays, assignments and just in general a lot of work. It was a lot but it all helped him a ton and it made Mike Rose become a student who actually wanted to do homework. McFarland turned Mike into a student who actually wanted to be the best in class and Mike just felt so much more motivated. He ended up being very successful to this day. This is what students need and it 's what students don 't
Between the stressful schedules and pricey cost to attend to the difference between getting a job and not getting it was a high school diploma or a college degree. I am interested in furthering my education through college and eventually graduate school, because I believe and know that my degree will give me the best possible chance to be successful in whatever I choose to do after I graduate. I’m confident that I will not only be able to put in an excess amount of time and effort, but be able to surpass the goals I am setting for myself. Being considered for this scholarship will aid me on my path to success. I’m committed to making a great name for myself and to being a role model to those who are younger than
In my earlier years at school, earning good grades was never my priority. I never took my courses seriously, slacked off, and often failed to finish my work. I was unmotivated, unambitious, and unhappy. Faced with the decision to attend extra help or hang out with friends, I always chose to go out. Putting other activities before my education hindered my success in school.
Although I didn’t want “bad” grades... This wasn’t just academics this was even sports. I would always look at others and their talents and think I had to be like them. I finished my sophomore year not impressed with my grades, but in the middle of my Junior year, things began to change. I realized that God made us all unique in a different way.
This has been the underlying theme of my personal and professional growth. While in high school, I understood this and wanted to do what was within my capability to improve the wellbeing of others. In my senior year, I established the Amine Club and successfully led it to fundraise thousands of dollars for the local community fundraisers and end of the year field trip to Asian town. After graduating, I enrolled at UCR where I began my undergraduate education aspiring to become a doctor; I did not know what kind but I wanted to be one as I thought becoming a doctor was the only way to help others.
I have always put all of my effort into every class I have taken. Achieving high grades has always been a top priority for me in school. Achieving high grades has driven me to work hard. Studying for exams, completing all my homework assignments to the best of my ability, and asking my teachers and professors for help on class material are examples of how I accomplished my academic goals. To me, it is an incomparable feeling when the outcome of a course matches my tenacity.
