One of the greatest strengths I bring to the field practicum is optimism. In the helping profession I believe hope/positivity is very important because it affects how I see problems, how I solve problems, how I help my clients, and how I make decisions. Secondly, self-awareness would be another strength I have to offer. I am constantly doing self-evaluations of my heart, motives, biases, and good/bad habits. This allows me to continue to improve myself as an individual and as an employee. My greatest limitation would be fear of failure. I have this burning desire to help individuals, families, and communities, but in doing that I do not want to fail them. My desire of wanting to provide clients with the best and seeing them succeed is a strength
I hold. However, it can easily be turned into a limitation if I doubt the work I have done to help my clients. Ultimately, I recognize I am dealing with people’s lives and what I do directly impacts them.
Some strengths that stand out the most in my personal life are, how I love to serve and give freely to benefit others, whether it is donating money or paying close attention to events that happen to surprise my friends with little gifts, I enjoy brightening someone's day. I am known as
Two strengths of mine throughout the first-quarter were being able to present information in front of a group of people, and coming up with good ideas for my essays. First I believe that one of my strengths are being able to go on the front of many people and fluently have information expressed. Evidence of this is when we did the multiple socratic seminars. I exceeded when doing
These strengths have allows for me to flourish in school and the activities I participate in. Along side these strengths are my weaknesses that have allowed me to encounter some learning opportunities. Ive gained knowledge from these weaknesses. Ive learned how to evaluate a situation and gauge how assertive I need to be in order to get a group to accomplish a task. Ive also learned that sometimes I need to put my needs in front of other people 's in some situations, such as deciding where I want to continue my education after high
Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. Practicing from a strengths perspective was also another area I excelled at when working with my clients. A skill that I could work on is being more conscious of self in terms of body language during interviews, because at times I find myself with my arms cross which may give an indication that I’m closed off or
When reviewing the results for the Strength Finder Quiz (Gallup, 2010) I was pleased to see that I had a good understanding of where my strengths are and knowing they are being used regularly. The quiz showed that my five greatest strengths are Ideation, Input, Realtor, Activator, and Command. At the current position I am in at work I am able to be really productive based on the skill set that I have.
According to the strength finder survey, my five greatest strengths are: positivity , restorative, includer , adaptability, and responsibility (Gallup,2017). However, I knew I had the strengths of showing positivity and responsibility. I'm also ecstatic about finding out about the other three.
One has to use their strengths to their advantage. I think that at my job I can use my five strengths to dealing with people in general or when a thing becomes stressful. For example, when there is an irate customer, I can use my realtor skill when someone is upset. I can set back and hear what he or she has to say. If I offer my listening skills and help them in their life. I have discovered that often times people want you to listen to them and their concerns. Furthermore just as I am using my realtor skill, I am also utilizing my learner skill. I am absorbing all the information to get a life lesson. It could be that I should listen more to people and not talk as much or give someone the encouraging when he or she is having a bad day. I think that
After learning about my strengths, I realized how much I actually use my strengths in everyday life. My strengths include individualization, strategic, relator, includer and arranger.
Another strength is I like to do things right the first time, but this is a little bit of a double edge sword. I tend to be hard on myself if I don't get something to my liking. It took a little work for me to realize that perfection isn't always what truly matters, if you can look back and say “I did everything I could, and I worked my hardest" as long as I gained some type of knowledge from those experiences that are what’s really important. Nowadays, if I run into one my over critical situations I take a step back and ask myself am I doing my best and if I think yes well then, I'm already meeting my goal. And in some of my more challenging situations, I like to turn to some of my mentors, friends or even family. I am so fortunate to have an amazing support system. At any minute of any hour of any day, I can always turn to a familiar face even if I haven’t talked to that one particular person is some time. Fully knowing that they've always got time to sit and chat about whatever might be challenging me, especially my wonderful
One of my strengths was in Cultural integration, which I feel is very true for me being raised in Los Angeles and being intermingled in a diversity of cultures. With the salad bowl of people and the multiply cultures i came in contact with, I feel this has helped for me to see everyones ways. My other strength was in Empathy, again i feel this is true about me. I work in Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) at the college and love working with all types of students in need of accommodations to help to succeed in college.
One example of my strength is i can accept helpful criticism because if you cant accept it you will be always think you are doing something wrong and someone is yelling at you how i overcame so i knew it was helpful criticism is because of sports. Finally, i feel that emotional health
The strengths I currently have are communication skills, working with little children, self-driven, and be able to understand little children. These strengths are all related to my field of work. Each one of them I always plan to work on them throughout my life. My strengths vary, all depending on what content area I am currently focussing on. When I was little communication skills used to be my weakness for a long time until I found the courage to overcome that challenge.
In terms of communication in the interactions with people, my strengths would be that I have the ability to actively listen and reframe the situation from a unique and different perspective. In particular, active listening refers to, making the person feel heard and understood. Active listening is a valuable skill, for not just the other person but also for myself; “to be able to understand what people are really trying to say and express while being able to provide comfort and consolation.” (Potter & Perry, 2014, p. 300) . By communicating as an active listener, it helps me to deepen the connection with my inner self as well as lifestyle wellness. As I couldn’t express my true self and my feelings to anyone, I began attempting to help others with expressing themselves by being there for them and providing comfort. Furthermore, reframing refers to “seeing the same reality through different lenses” (Potter & Perry, 2014, p. 300); creating a different outlook. Reframing prepares me to face a variety of situations and see various possibilities with different approaches. I tend to look at different life events in various ways and reframe negative outcomes in positive outcomes. Specifically, this communication skill helps me to be fully be aware of current concept and situation, allowing me to provide valuable advice and outlooks for others. I enjoy having conversations with people because it gives me
My personal strengths are my punctuality, discipline, and my ability to stay focused among the distractions. Punctuality is very important to me. I make sure to never be late and most of the time I arrive early for my appointments and engagements. I feel punctuality gives
During that time I was able to find areas that I would consider my strengths. One area I would say I have a great strength would be classroom management. My classroom was very talkative compared to other classes I have taught. Managing them was very difficult at first because I didn’t know what to expect or even how to hand the students. It was also difficult because I wasn’t sure who was supposed to be disciplining and taking control. Once the cooperating teacher and I had this figured out, it was easy for me to take charge and lay down what I expected. I noticed at this time, the students respected me more as a teacher and not just another student.
