Epilogue
Joell Young
From the very beginning, it was apparent that there was going to be a great deal of communication and learning done in this project. I could not be any more thankful for the group I was in. I believe our personalities and attitudes all meshed quite well to get this to the finish line.
Our group’s marketing plan was based on the Playtex Baby brand of feeding products for infants and toddlers. Through a great deal of research, we learned that Playtex Baby is actually a subsidiary of the parent company Edgewell Personal Care, Inc. This parent company also holds the brands of about fifteen other major named products we all know and use such as Schick, Playtex, Banana Boat, and much more. Within the research on Playtex

Playtex Baby is an innovative company that desires to help parents and infants in the early years of life. They specialize in feeding systems for infants and toddlers and are the only company to have a disposable, pre-sterilized bottle system, therefore our product idea seemed to be a perfect fit for Playtex Baby. Through researching their products, a disposable bottle nipple that would fit a standard water bottle seems to be the next step needed in their …show more content…
This was a great learning process as I was unaware that developing and implementing a new product was so extensive. There is obvious research needed when a new product is being developed, but the proper marketing and plans for promotion were much than I thought they would be. It’s not as simple as just making a billboard ad or commercial for television, there is a great deal of strategy and financial analysis that goes into the planning process than I first realized.
The communication and dedication between my group members made this project a success. I believe that through the
The company has already participated in several shows to promote the product and obtained valuable feedback buyers, consumers, professionals and media.
Our original marketing plan was not a plan at all. We wanted to see success and focused on revenues, net sales, and stock price to gauge whether we were doing what was best for the company. We made sure to locate a target market and base our promotional tactics on what young and mature families want and need. We ensured that we did the right thing in the face of adversity, especially when concerning intercompany issues and product tampering. We wanted to make sure that we were selling great products that did their intended job at a fair price, and made sure our products were easily accessible to consumers.
Feeding a baby is an indispensable duty of a parent. Part of that duty includes making
Our group proved to be productive and a bonding experience. We created together, we stressed together, we laughed together, and the group gave itself group “air hugs” when we felt we had done a good job. For the rest of my BASW education I will feel closer to these individuals than I do with the rest of the cohort. Our time together provided us the opportunity to reach greater understandings and appreciations of one another.
Initial marketing through print ad and website led to some confusion on how this product should be introduced
Through all and all, towards the end, as we got comfortable and communicated more on a daily basis, it was a stress reliever to know we were on the same page with the budget, tactics, and how to advertise their organization within the community. We figured out how to set up a time with Mary and get more information for this project, in order to combine everything together.
I was curious about how is work going to be divided. Since the project requires everyone’s participation, the group work was divided fairly and equally among us. Also, I was excited to have a real working experience with my classmates. In fact, this project gave me an insight of how much we get along together regardless of our differences. During the project, pride was the dominant feeling. That is mainly because the outcomes of this project will most likely benefit the students, teachers, and faculty of The Wilson Elementary School.
Perform critical review of the results. Describe success of the marketing decisions and techniques. Synthesize a list of recommendations for marketing and management specialists employed by hi-tech startups in the manufacturing field.
allowed me moments of introspection. The teamwork led to trust, trust led to caring, caring led to empathy;
In today’s world, there are many ways for a company to introduce a new product into the market. Tiger Tread, a new product from the National Chemical Corporation, is a great example. John Webster, marketing director, and Fred Farley, technical director of the company, knew that they had a very special product to introduce.
In this world, creating a new product, as good as it may be, is not enough. The success of any product, in this day and age, depends grandly on the way it is presented to the market. Marketing is responsible in assuring a successful launch of a product, new or reinvented, and to assure its sustainability in this competitive world. For those reasons, billions of dollars are spent each year on tools and strategies to improve marketing research and predict the success of a product: many marketing firms form focus groups, do trials and conduct many tests just to end up with a fairly high percentage of failures.
In order to evaluate my role within the group, it is important to identify what makes a group. A group must firstly consist of more than three members, “Two members have personal relationships; with three or more there is a change in quality” of the personal relationship. (Bion 1961, p26) The group must have a common purpose or a goal in order to succeed. Having now completed my group work task, I can look back and reflect upon the process that my group went through to get to the presentation end point.
...f fun. I learned something about myself to on this journey. I learned that I really enjoy being a leader and having people look up to me. I also learned that some people can be very difficult when they procrastinate and make group projects very hard. I believe my effort had a very positive affect on many people. During the basketball season I had parents walking up to me and telling me what a good job I was doing with their child and that I was a great role-model for children. I didn’t really understand what they were talking about because I was just acting the way I always and I think people just started to notice it. I really did have a great time doing this project and I hope other people did too. I really hope that this project continues because it not only helps the community but, It helps people feel good about something they have done to help others.
In this process, it was important for me to establish the sense of urgency as well as the vision of the project. I accomplished this by meeting and working with the stakeholders, securing their consensus and working with the technical team to develop technical...
