Instead of having only extra cash from working after school, you can also gain many skills such as leadership skills. Students working while in high school helps prepare them for what the real world is actually like. I have an after school job, and it has taught me many things such as how to manage money and distribute my time better. Students should work part-time while in high school because it helps you to be more focused on your studies, and colleges will look for a better study and work ethic, and it gives you experience and helps you learn how to manage money.
First off, when working part-time after school will help you to be more focused on your studies because, understanding the meaning of work and how much time is put in to get a

Colleges look at you over other resumes if you can work after school and keep your grades up (“Students and Part-Time Work”). Colleges also look for maturity in their students because, they don't want students that are going to make poor decisions and make the school's name look bad (“Students and Part-Time Work”). This being said working after school can help you to gain maturity and will help you to know the difference between right and wrong. Colleges also want students that can take care of their responsibilities, but working after school will help you to gain time management skills so you can take care of all your responsibilities such as homework (“Students and Part-Time Work”). “Admission representatives want to find candidates who demonstrate maturity, responsibility, independence, and initiative - and good workers certainly demonstrate those important character traits,” says John B. Buschhoven, counselor for continuing education at Community High School in Michigan (“Students and Part-Time Work”). College costs are high and students working will be able to save for college and if you keep your grades up, you are more likely to get scholarships, which is an easier way to pay for college (“Students and Part-Time Work”). Now that you know that working is important for college let's look at how working will give you extra money and more
I plan to work while I attend college. I believe this is so important because I can help with my living expenses and contribute toward my education. For years, I have been under my parents’ wings, and I would love to help them by financially giving back to them. Working in college will improve my education as well as my family’s finances, and I think that it is crucial. Working will make me want to study more and make better grades and it will prepare me for my
Students spend four years of their lives attending high school. Going through high school is mandatory as it prepares them for college and strength to face “the real world.” Having part-time jobs has become the phenomenon among high school students and many students follow this trend as well. Moreover, there are some pros and cons attached with it. Though it may seem like working throughout high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for “the real world.” Although some people believe that the primary duty of a student is studying, I am of the opposite position. I strongly support the idea that high school students should work throughout high school. This is because they can earn money, become responsible and get experience.
But many low-income students not only have a full-time course schedule, they also have jobs where they work more than 30 hours per week. Approximately one-quarter of college students’ work while attending school and have both a full course-load and a full-time job (Carnevale, Smith, & Melton, 2015). Working helps students with the living costs as well as tuition and can help students learn skill sets that many employers prefer. However, there are problems with having full-time work while going to college.
Many students believe that they can handle having a part time job and being a college student at the same time. For some students having a job and being in school can be manageable but there is some students who believe they can manage their personal life and school at the same time. In the talk show Tedx Talk with David Ray, Ray mentions that students with jobs tend to struggle more in college and have more of a chance to drop out, when he states “students have to work part time jobs or multiple jobs to pay for tuition and they do less school work”. College is worth it for the students who know how to manage their personal life with their school life but sadly there is students who do not know how to manage their time appropriately and end up dropping out of college which results to losing

Those who take on student debt when enrolling into college, result in needing to find a job immediately after school in hopes of paying their debt off soon. Reporter of Upromise, Diane M. Whitmore, published the article “Learning and Earning: Working in College”, which offers college students statistics of their working experience due to tuition. She states that “after four years, college students who had worked 20 hours per week at an off-campus job were 8.7 percentage points less likely to have graduated than non-workers.” Students who cannot afford to have a large amount of debt, work and therefore have less time for their studies.
Although college students have to work while in college to pay for tuition, they should not. Working while in college can cause harm to your education. Quentin Fottrell (2013), from MarketWatch, states that, “Nearly four out of five U.S. students… work while in school, survey by Citigroup and Seventeen magazine found, with the average working student putting in 19 hours a week during
Joining the work force benefits the students by eliminating the high tuition fees for colleges and improving chances for employment. Many students today are in debt by student loans, making colleges a bad investment for many newcomers. A 2011 survey conducted by College Board, an organization of colleges and universities that administe...
What do people think about their life purpose? Most of us think about life that is studying hard in order to get a wonderful job, working hard, and getting married. They have dreamed of one day having an eternal vacation for themselves and not having to work anymore. The traditional people around the world consider that overworking is an essential condition for the early stage of their life. Especially in most of Asian countries, the average workweek is 48 hours. According to the fulltime employment, people work 35 to 40 hours per week to be defined as full-time. If more than that number, that should be considered overworking. Overworking is an important issue because that can lead to some serious consequences. Thus, we should consider work-life balance more seriously.
It is very common that many high school students hold part time jobs while going to school. When these teens work, they are able to learn and experience life lessons from ethical and moral work. Knowing that school is aways and should be a priority, students should work while in high school because working helps students be more responsible with their lives, help them practice time managment, and also helps students see and experience the real world.
A college education is necessary today in society. Students can focus on their academics and try to get a high score. The cost of education for each student has become more difficult to afford. Thus, many students and teachers wonder if free college tuition must be granted. Free education must be responsible and funded by the U.S. government because it will help students focus on their studies, and encourage them to work harder in school. Even thought many people think that education must be free, it is very important for many reasons such as the economy, quality of education, and value of a college degree.
Nowadays in the era of globalization, students are encouraged to have work part-time that will create them to become more experienced in their future, teach them to become more independent and mature in real life. Although the students have enough money to pay their fees and able to accommodate the necessities of life but we totally agree that the working part-time should be encouraged because work part-time can give more benefits to students. According to King and Bannon (2002, p. 2), more than 50 percent of full-time students have jobs and “nearly 46% of all full-time employed students work 25 hours or more.” As students work more, they have less time to become engaged in campus life both inside and outside the classroom. Many students love to have part-time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the students nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the students are working part-time jobs and some have the intention to work. When we are in any fast food restaurant, supermarket or shop, there are must be school students who are working. Besides, students can gain a lot of experiences, students should be encouraged to work part-time because they can learn new skills and learn how to manage their financial properly.
In like manner, if students become apathetic about attending school, they will reap the consequences of a poor education and, in turn, will not attain a degree. Hence, the question arises, why are they [students] not attending school? Though, the explanation may not be a simplistic one, some jump to the bias conclusion that these particular students are delinquents or quite frankly despise school, but, the issue may be more complex that that. In the case of such apathy towards school, bullying could be the culprit. In addition, clothing choices may or may not have something to do with said bullying. In this case, uniforms could greatly improve attendance records due to the roadblock they place between issues at school, such as bullying, and lack of
Teens today face a lot of pressure. Many students deal with difficult life situations that hinder them from focusing on their futures. This can lead to a loss of interest in school and school events, such as a sports, clubs, or after school programs. Teens start to prioritize other things over their education. Every year, over 1.2 million students will leave school without earning a high school diploma in the United States alone (“11”). That’s a student every 26 seconds – or 7,000 a day (“11”). The United States, which used to have the highest graduation rates of any country, now ranks 22nd out of 27 developed countries (“11”). Students may not realize that by dropping out of high school they are more likely to commit crimes, become parents at a young age, use and abuse alcohol and drugs, and live in poverty (“Drop”). Dropouts make up the majority of those
Nowadays, the numbers of students who are always looking for a part time job while they are attending college is increasing every day. According to an article was published in 1998 on The Futurist, the number of students who have a part-time job increased from 5% of students in the 1950s to almost 70% of the students in some communities (“Jobs hurt school performance” n. page). Because of a bunch of fee and cost that students have to handle, working during college seems to be a necessity than an option. The part-time jobs provide not only paychecks but also experience, skills for the students. It is very helpful for the students after they graduate college and look for a real job. Although there are some people who argue that having a job during
