Weekend Writing 06: Non-Stop School? School; it’s a place of learning and nourishment for children and students of all ages. Recently, some school districts have considered making school days longer. It has been highly debated among schools because there are many things to take into consideration. While most students despise the thought of more school, it might actually beneficial to a large majority of students. Keeping kids at school could keep them away from damaged home environments and could allow them to focus on their grades and studies. Also, with a study hall students could complete homework or even enroll in an extra class. With so many benefits this idea should be more thoroughly considered. Life for children can be challenging depending on where they grow up. Many students grow up in families with little to no income and damaging environments. While some can cope well with this life, others tend to go down the wrong paths in life. Analysis has shown that children with bad families tend to get into trouble and join local gangs. If schools acknowledged this then they could implement more programs for these students and make their lives easier. Longer school days would also help these students by keeping …show more content…

While many would argue that longer school takes away from student’s extra-curricular activities, if students have no more homework it may let them do more activities after school. Texas district schools are notorious for piling homework on students as soon as they start school. With so much homework students simply have no time to explore their talents and enjoy after school hours. If an extra two hours of school existed then districts couldn’t give tons of homework because no one would have time to finish it and parents would complain.
