Personal and Public Speech Skills Throughout life we express ourselves through words. The way we present ourselves through speech says a lot about our character. The way one speaks to others can jeopardize the amount of respect and trust others have for them. From the way one pronounces a word to their posture can affect the way an audience interprets what is being said. Personally, I am not confident with my speaking skills at this point. I would like my audience to fully comprehend the concepts or facts that I would present to them. In order to do so I must improve my speaking skills I believe that a problem most people, including myself, have when giving speeches is facing an audience. Just looking out to an audience of a mere ten could get your knees knocking. I know it is important not to let your audience know that you are nervous because this could easily make them doubt what you are about to say. It is impossible to speak at ease without knowing what you are talking about. I guess the only way to ease this overwhelming anxiety when stepping up to the podium would be through thorough preparation. Sometimes when we get up to the podium we feel that the spotlight upon us is just so unbearable that we tend to rush through our speeches. I know that this problem has occurred for me many times. The reason I end up doing this is because I cannot wait to get back to my seat. This is definitely a speech flaw that has to be touched up for me. How can my audience...
In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, there are many traces of lenses. The lens that I chose to explain is the gender lens. Since this is a long time ago, women weren’t treated the same as men. Women were treated as items, as property. Men were the rulers of everything, they made the big choices. Hermia was treated as property that Demetrius wanted, even though Lysander already “owned” and Egeus (Hermia’s father) was lending out to people. It seems like a sexist world back then.
World War I and II took a toll on many nations, one of them being Britain. After Britain finished fighting two world wars they were struggling with debt (India, 36). This is a major reason that leads them to withdraw from many of their colonies. There was also rising tension between Hindus and Muslims in this empire, which was getting out of control. The separation of Pakistan and India was beneficial for Hindus and Muslims alike.
...ernment of India Act was passed in 1935 granting self-rile in India and democratic political reforms. However, as India got closer to independence, Hindus and Muslims began to disagree on government but in 1947 independence was granted. Immediately after independence India was split into two different nations, Pakistan, which had a majority of Muslim, and East Pakistan (“The End of Imperialism & Colonialism”).

All around the world there are thousands even millions of children who are waiting to be adopted. Many who are troubled children, and for that reason they are from foster home to foster home. The ideal American "family" is with a man and a woman. In the United States we have same-sex couples who are wanting to adopt, but they are being turned down due to their sexual preference. Same-sex relationships are much more stable than the average heterosexual relationship. Having a stable relationship ensures an emotionally steady home for a foster child. “Good parenting is not influenced by sexual orientation. Rather, it is influenced most profoundly by a parent’s ability to create a loving and nurturing home” (“LGBT Adoption”). Same-sex couples are more likely to adopt “hard to place” children with challenging behavior or disabilities.
During my demonstration speech, I was affected by my speech anxiety. Some of the viewable symptoms were the shaking of my hands and also the stuttering of speech. I was able to control myself and relax after I started getting into my information. I did use some of the suggested relaxation techniques to relieve my anxiety. Before I got up to speak I thought confident of myself to help give me courage and confidence.
Parents who choose same-sex partners should be treated as a “typical” couple should be treated. Whether it is because of who they love, what they believe in, or if they dress a certain way, should not determine how they should be treated. “Applicants should be assessed on the basis of their abilities to successfully parents a child needing family membership and not on their race, appearance, differing lifestyles, or sexual orientation” (Children’s Voice Magazine 2). A “typical” couple is able to feed, love, and give their adoptive child a home. This also goes for same-sex couples. All people have feelings and no matter who those feelings are for, they will treat a child with the same respect as anyone else would. Also, same-sex families should be able to be provided with everything that a heterosexual family would be able to have. “Children whose parents are gay or lesbian deserve the same protections that our society provides for other children.” (Cameron 5). This and all the rights citizen...

With growing demand for faster service, by 1982, UPS Next Day Air Service was available and the volume of packages hit 6.4 million per day. The volume continued growing and reached 15 million packages per day in 2010.
In today’s world, most of society still does not approve of gay couples adopting and being parents for a number of reasons. Some believe that by the parents being gay it will make their children gay too. Studies found[however], that there is a large absence of distinguishing characteristics among the lifestyles, child-rearing practices, and basic demographic data of homosexual and heterosexual parents (Minter 70). Others believe that gay couples should not be parents because the Bible only says that a child should honor their mother and father. On the other hand, other people think that there is nothing wrong with gay couples adopting children and becoming parents. These people believe that homosexual couples should be more welcomed as parents
While there are several benefits to gay and lesbian adoption, some may argue that it puts kids into difficult and uncomfortable situations. One article surveyed children about their problems they’ve experienced with same sex parents. 92 percent of those
Making a successful public presentation or speech to an audience was a very big task for me before I joined the public speaking class. I was always frightened and very nervous. Since then I now understand the process of making a speech or a presentation including coming up with a topic and from this topic develop the main points of the speech, research, organize my points, revise them, edit and make a magnificent presentation to any audience. People in the audience might sometimes agree or disagree with my opinion or points, it was therefore necessary to communicate my information clearly to the audience without making any judgments since every person was entitled to a different opinion and views about things.
Of course, we didn’t jump straight into giving speeches. We prepared by reading our speech book and reviewing what it said during class. We learned how to properly outline a speech and how to voice our speeches. However, none of that seemed to help my nerves.
Adoption is not about finding children for families, it’s about finding families for children” (Joyce Maguire Pavao). Same sex couples should have the same options as heterosexual couples. Who says that a gay couple can’t raise a child and they come out perfectly fine. Many same-sex couples, after a lot of struggle, have been able to adopt and have changed a child’s life.Allowing same-sex couples to adopt is a powerful step towards success and it helps in many ways, which is why same-sex couples should be able to adopt. Their love for the children is the same as not same-sex couples, there are way too many kids in adoption homes and there is no proof that “bad parenting” happens.
Theories I learned in public speaking are in regular conversations, you get all lots of feedback and interest from the other person and in large group, and you get some or none at all. This really heightens all kinds of risks of being plain, confusing, or boring. You can easily avoid in normal conversation between just two people or a very small group who have the same interests. Also, it helps to remember that when people sit considerately without speaking, they are usually watching some sort of screen optimized to entertain them. So to ask a large, captive group to sit and listen to a speech is to make a very big demand, and you must use your time sparingly and wisely. It’s generally not the time for an argument. It is to provide an understanding and desire for the audience.
