As you look into the crowd, a sea of judgy eyes stare you down as they focus on your every move. Every word you say, every hand motion you make, is being watched. Public speaking is a task many people have to overcome. Around 45% of people struggle with public speaking daily. I do not enjoy public speaking , so I am part of this 45%.I am frightened of public speaking because everyone is watching me, I feel as if I am being judged, and I worry I will mess up.
To continue, public speaking frightens me because everyone is watching me. If I elaborate, when I presented my Martin Luther King Jr speech I got nerves once I noticed everyone was watching me. I feel as if I am getting negative vibes from all the looks I would get. Plus, me being under pressure, I start to overthink everything. When I am public speaking, I am usually thinking about all of these things. In effect to that, I will most likely have some mistakes. When I am under pressure, I will usually mess up at some point. During my Martin Luther King Jr presentation, a couple times I would stutter and I had to slow myself down to fix my mistakes. When my nerves hit, I start to speed up my presentation by reading faster. In result, I start to mix up words and stutter. When I spoke about my business plan, I was worried because I didn't want to let my team down. Once I start to go fast, my mistakes come faster a cheetah. I already had the pressure of my group members want me to succeed, and it's hard to recover you calmness once you've messed up. Finally, when debating, you really have to watch your wording so you don't offend anyone, and I was always worried I would mess up and say something I didn't mean. Debating especially, is a place where many opinions are explained. I always get concerned because I don't want to mess up and hurt someone's
