It requires choosing which behaviors will help and which ones won't. It requires making decisions every day that helps take a person to a better state of body and mind health. How do you get to a state of personal wellness? Define what personal wellness means to you and define your goals. Answer this question: what changes do you want to make in your life to be healthier and to reach a better state of wellness? When you answer that question, you have defined your goals. You have defined what you want to happen in the first step. Now, you need to decide how you are going to achieve those wellness goals. Losing weight is one of the example goals. To achieve that goal, you may need to adopt a different eating strategy. If diabetes is in the picture, you are going to have to plan your meals with limited carbohydrates. You may decide to eat five or six smaller meals throughout the day instead of three large ones. This helps keep hunger at bay and can help steady your blood glucose levels. Exercise is another way to lose weight. Taking a 30-minute walk four or five days a week can help. Exercise also helps regulate blood glucose levels and reduce stress. Learning relaxation methods, such as yoga or tai chi, also reduces stress. And that helps people regulate their eating habits better. So, the steps to take. Eat a limited carbohydrate, healthy diet. Eat several smaller meals throughout the day. Take a 30-minute walk five times a week. Go to yoga class twice a week. Determine your
Besides changing your diet, you should talk to your doctor about an exercise program that's right for you. If you smoke, quit. If you're overweight, try to lose weight (changing your diet and exercising will help you lose weight). Talk with your doctor about reducing other risk factors, such as high blood pressure or diabetes. – Dr. Donnely; Cody Family Practice Center
Wellness is imperative to a healthy life. Sometimes, people do not really consider what makes up wellness, they simply think of it as being “well”. Wellness may be a state of being “well”, however, it incorporates different areas such as nutrition, health, safety, nurturing, and emotional stability. People must be healthy in all of these areas in order to achieve wellness. This is not an easy task for an adult, but definitely not for children.
Health is described as physical and mental well-being and freedom from disease, pain or defect. However, such descriptions only superficially define the actual meaning of health. There may be many occasions when individuals are not necessarily ill or in pain but may be overweight, stressed or emotionally unstable. Health is a quality of life involving dynamic interaction and interdependence among the individual’s physical state, their mental and emotional reactions, and the social context in which the individual exists. There are many factors that influence your health, but three major components contribute to general well-being: Self-awareness, a balanced diet and, regular physical activity.
In addition to holding back on some of your favorite foods you should also make sure that you do physical activity. To burn the extra calories, you need to be physically active at least thirty minutes each day. You can take a trail walk or a run around your neighborhood. It doesn’t matter what you do even if you decide to take a run through the mall. There are so many benefits from physical activity. It doesn’t only help with weight management but it also reduces the risks of high blood pressure and colon cancer. While increasing HDL cholesterol, preventing coronary heart disease and diabetes, physical activity also provides healthy and strong bones. If you want to lose the weight, you should put physical activity on your lists schedules.
Exercise is not the only solution in losing weight or keeping yourself healthy. Your eating habits play a big role in helping you achieve your fitness goals. Make sure to keep an eye on everything that you eat. Try to avoid colas, candies and foods that are high in salt and sugar. Fruits and vegetables should comprise most of your diet since it contains fewer calories and more filling.
When thinking of my overall health, a few aspects stand out that I think I could definitely improve on. When I think my current personal wellness I think it is fairly decent. There are definitely people out there far worse than myself. It could be better because there is always room for improvement. I’m a big fan of personal growth. To me if a person decides to stop growing or wanting to better themselves either mentally, physically or emotiontally. Then whats the real purpose for living? I am a fairly active person. I love to hike, stay fit and eat healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t hard for me which I think definitely contributes to a wellness.
What makes a person healthy? Surely, it is more than exercising and a proper diet. As a ten year-old girl, being healthy had one meaning to me; to eat all my vegetables and to be physically fit. I have chosen healthcare as a career because health does not only focus on the physical aspects of wellness, but it applies to all areas of wellness, such as, intellectual, social, spiritual, financial, occupational, environmental and emotional wellness.
Most definitely, as a PTA, I will have an impact on the psychosocial health of my patients. This will manifest in a variety of ways. From the general education I will provide to my patients to the legal obligation I, as healthcare worker, have to report suspected child abuse and everything in between, I will, without a doubt, affect my patient’s psychosocial health. As therapists, everything we do can either impact our patients negatively or positively. It is my goal to only affect my patients in positive ways.
healthy is a major component in ones’ overall wellbeing, more so mentally, but being healthy
The second dimension of wellness is emotional wellness, which has a lot to do with you ability to recognize your own thoughts and feelings and deal with them in a healthy way. There are a lot of ways to do this, such as: understanding and sharing your thoughts and feelings with yourself and those around you, and being confident in your self and the decisions you make. Some well known people who I believe have attained emotional wellness include Ellen DeGeneres and Doctor Phil.
Wellness is defined as “an active life-long process of becoming aware of and making choices to achieve optimal health and a more successful and balanced existence” (Ren et al., 2007). Wellness incorporates the spiritual, emotional and social wellbeing of an individual. When it came to thinking, planning and developing my SMART goal I decided to focus on my physical health as this was an area that I needed to improve the most and would also contribute positively to my spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual and environmental wellbeing aswell. In this reflective essay I will discuss and reflect on this journey. This reflection will include why I decided to focus on this specific SMART goal aswell as how I found the SMART goal journey. I will then discuss my own view on my attitudes for health and wellness and will discuss what a SMART goal is and the importance of them in order to start working towards those goals and to positively change behaviours and habits. This reflection will also include challenges that may be experienced in relation to behaviour change. These may include time management and motivation.
I am glad to be forced to take a look at my personal health and to develop a plan for my future. For the last few years it has been a subject I chose to ignore. Faced with this assignment and the desire to do well on it, I am forced to take a hard look at myself and decide the next steps.
Wellness can be defined in many different ways. One of my favorite definitions is from the National Wellness Institute that states that wellness is “an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence” (NWI). I like this definition because it encompasses more aspects of wellness than just the physical aspect that people generally think of first. The other important aspects of wellness are stated by the University of California, Riverside. They include seven aspect of wellness: social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, and physical (UCR). All of these are important to being a well-rounded and over all healthy person.
Exercising on a daily basis can help you loose excess weight and also maintain your current body type. Simple tasks, such as walking
What is wellness and why is it important in my life? Wellness can be broadly described as the culmination of actively making multiple choices that will lead oneself to a happier and healthier life. Wellness is not merely being in shape or having an IQ of 130. Rather, wellness is an active process through which we can better many aspects of ourselves. In general, most people wish to be the best version of themselves that they can be, leading to the crucial knowledge that wellness is an important topic for everyone.
