Fundamental understanding and implementation of true personal talent propels individual success. Rath (2007) insisted that developing talent involves great strive and efforts; however, the opportunity to grow in this aspect is limited. In 2001, Gallup created an assessment to help individuals “uncover their talents” (Gallup, Inc., 2016). Rath (2007) emphasized that these talents are not to be misunderstood as strengths. He makes a clear distinct between the two concepts by offering that talent as well as knowledge, skills, and experience are elements of strength. To demonstrate, the Gallup Organization offers an online assessment composed of 177 variable pair of items designed to help classify talents (Rath, 2007; Gallup, Inc., 2016). The assessment attempts to categorize individual talents based on natural responses to the pairs of variable items. I completed this assessment for the purpose of gaining a better understanding my personal talents as they relate my career and on the job performance. After completing the assessment, an analysis of these top 5 talents were categorized and explained based on the responses given. These 34 talents identified by the Gallup Organization offer insight as to what type of strength we as individual possess are and how they can be applied in order to create a more effective organization. The five talents (connectedness, learner, futuristic, empathy, and strategic) identified in my personal assessment show a synopsis of my personality traits that make me stand out the most in my organization. I am not sure if I agree with the level of talent suggested by the survey results but I do agree that our skills and knowledge are ineffective if our natural talents are not recognized an appropriately applied to the task at
