Not knowing what the future holds can sometimes be a scary thing. Things may not always work out all the time and may not always go your way. However, sometimes the future holds blessings in disguise. When I made the transition into high school, it was not an easy task. I did not know that many people, was afraid, was not that participative, and I did not know what to look forward to. I was basically thrown into a whole new world. The upperclassmen especially were the ones who were intimidating the most, but in a good way. I admired the upperclassmen instead of being afraid of them. They all had experience in high school, knew one another, and knew how to fit in. So I began to take advice from them on how to succeed in high school. …show more content…
I began to meet new friends and develop bonds with all of them. When it came to putting the show together, we always made it a priority to do the best that we could. Working hard everyday and putting all of our emotions into the show really showed me how impactful a club like this really was on a person. I was so inspired from my first year of SING that I continued to do it every year. The other reason that I continued every year was that SING is a competition. Every year, my grade strived towards winning the SING Cup because that was the main objective. It was the one thing we all looked forward to achieving every single year. Every year we would all work harder to make the dream of one day winning the SING Cup a reality. This ambition brought us all closer together and eventually made us, in a way, a family. When senior year came, it was our obligation to win and we did just that. After finally winning after four years it feels a bit bittersweet. Performing in Sing was just a special time of year for everyone so we could all reconnect. Now that was finally over for us. Although our Senior Sing family doesn’t have anything to look forward to anymore since finally winning,
Making the transition from middle school to high school is a huge stepping stone in a teenager’s life. High school represents both the ending of a childhood and the beginning of adulthood. It’s a rite of passage and often many teens have the wrong impression when beginning this passage. Most began high school with learning the last thing on their mind. They come in looking for a story like adventure and have a false sense of reality created through fabricated movie plots acted out by fictional characters. In all actuality high school is nothing like you see in movies, television shows, or what you read about in magazines.
I felt as though I was watching a train barrelling towards me, an inevitable bullet that had come tumbling out of the opposing pitcher’s arm. But instead I stood immobilized, watching my team's only chance of winning whiz by me. Strike three. I heard my team from behind me shouting “SWING!” with my mind screaming the same. But my bat remained unmoving, the pop of the catcher's glove like the nail into the coffin that was our defeat. All I had to do to keep our hopes of winning hope alive was swing, and yet I couldn't. I stayed on the field afterwards, tossing the ball up in the air and swinging away, landing it on the thick maple barrel of the bat.
Anxiety ran throughout my entire body the morning before my first class of college began. Not knowing what to expect of my professors, classmates, and campus scared me to death. I knew the comparison to senior year of high school and freshman year of college would be minute, but never did it occur to me how much more effort was need in college until that morning, of course. Effort wasn’t just needed inside of the classroom with homework and studying but also outside of it where we are encouraged to join clubs, get involved and find a job. Had I known the transformation would be so great, I’d have mentally prepared myself properly. It’s easy playing “grown-up” in high school when one doesn’t have to pay expensive tuitions, workout a
I know how difficult it is to transition from middle school to high school, especially being from the countryside of Turlock where my graduating class consisted of eighty kids. It is a big transition from a class of eighty to a class of about six hundred, and I would only know less than
Throughout my four years in high school I have been fortunate enough to fulfill many of my aspirations and my thirst for knowledge. One goal that I would like to achieve is to become an international attorney. I have aligned my involvement in specific academic and extra-curricular activities to aid me preparing for the long road between my present situation and the day I pass the bar exam. Through my high school activities I have learned three virtues that I have deemed necessary to achieve my goal, passion, self-discipline, and perseverance.
It’s a very rewarding feeling knowing you’ve helped someone who has been really struggling, and knowing that they trust you with their problems and that they know they can rely on you for assistance when they need it. Being involved with the musicals is some of the most fun i’ve had in my highschool career. I’ve always tried out for the highschool musical and always gotten a part, and just last year I helped the backstage crew of the middle school musical. Just being a part of it is what I like the most, being a single part in an entire production, and i’m the person who was best fit for that specific part. It makes me feel unique and different knowing that I was picked for that certain part. Last year I got my first actual lead as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard Of Oz. It had to have been the greatest experience of my life, I read my script any chance I could because I wanted to make this the best performance I have ever done, and I feel like I had
Throughout my high school experience, I've been able to obtain knowledge that I can use to better my life. Some of the classes I've taken have been a blessing in disguise. For example, I never expected to learn as much as I did about writing and literature by just simply reading. Many of my teachers have pushed me to my limits and inspired me to think differently from my peers. In general my best English experience was reading "MacBeth" by William Shakespeare in Mr. Elwell's class, where I also realized I had many English skills to improve on.
Walkinging into high school on my first day was like entering a new country for the first time. Unlike all the other kids around me I was super calm and a little too excited. Instead of sweaty palms I had shaking arms because I couldn't wait to meet new people and make new friends. That was always my personality so I think I had it much easier than the other kids.
The meaning to this quote is remembering the past and wanting to go back either to switch the past or live in the past once again. To quote really relates to my high school journey because there was a point where I didn't care for school, and I slacked off by not turning in assignments, and not doing homework. If I could go back in time to freshman year I would make better life decisions. I would take my classes seriously.
High school is meant to be the time of your life, but for most seniors just like me it can be some of the most emotional and crazy time. The things in my past make me who I am today, and the things I do now are the first footsteps into the future. I’ve learned a lot about myself in these past four years, and I still have so much learning to do. This is my high school story; the good, bad, and the ugly.
My confident motivation to have a successful band season allowed my true leadership style to flourish. Outside of those countless rehearsals, I practiced my musical skills, worked closely with the band staff, communicated with the student leadership, and ensured the new band members felt accepted to the band community. After the final championship performance, I looked out at the band from my podium and a sense of relief blew over me. I did it. We did it.
Let’s flash back in time to before our college days. Back to then we had lunch trays filled with rubbery chicken nuggets, stale pizza, and bags of chocolate milk. A backpack stacked with Lisa Frank note books, flexi rulers, and color changing pencils. The times where we thought we wouldn’t make it out alive, but we did. Through all the trials and tribulations school helped build who I am today and shaped my future. From basic functions all the way to life-long lessons that helped shape my character.
Transitioning from High School to College has been an interesting experience. Theres been a lot of freedom and situations I have not been used to. Its been especially tough being away from being my family and loved ones. But here at Brockport I've been blessed to find a professor who has essentially become my second mother. This professor is Marianne Dalton. I've had prior ballet experience and it is in fact my dream to become a professional ballet dancer. I wasn't sure what it'd be like to take a college level ballet class but Professor Dalton has made this class extremely enjoyable. We begin every class with a yoga infused warm up: to promote cross training and the health of our bodies as dancers. She always comes to class smiling and full
The opposition believes that while some will find a falsehood of confidence in their “certain” future, others will find pressure instead of confidence, in this lifelong commitment to an uncertain future. While everyone worries about their future at some point in their lifetime, some will find comfort in the knowledge that they have a portion of their life planned out. Devotion to a single profession can change overtime as one grows tired and wants change in his or her life, but a education course can change just as easily. Certain professions are not for everyone and the flexibility of a high school schedule is a benefit many choose to ignore. The additional self-confidence that these students achieve would not only increase their ability to learn and adapt to obstacles placed in their path, but also hasten their growth as individuals in the rapidly evolving world.
It wasn’t like any classroom I’ve been in. There was no one there to guide you or hold your hand through it all. This was all new to me and I really enjoyed the independence that it came with. It was a breath of fresh air compared to middle school were everything was told to you and they wanted you to do things their way. This class had gotten me excited for the real college experience even though I was just a freshman in highschool.
