I believe that there is no fear because there is nothing in sports that you can not face for example, football my freshman year I was a little scared to play on the field and get hit or miss a tackle but I never showed it to my teammates or coaches but then one game my coach put me in and I remember getting the football and I ran for 30 yards until a kid from the other team hit me but then I went in again this time I was blocking and I see someone come full speed at me and just hits me..I fell on the ground hard but I quickly got back up and still blocked...The point is It did not hurt as much as I thought also we have protection, after that day I wanted to be in more I gained confidence and no fear through that experience. My Sophomore year came and I was more involved in football this year because I knew what I was doing and I was not afraid. I did not just have a fear of only football I …show more content…
also had some in my other sports which are Wrestling and Track. In Wrestling the fear that I had and faced was getting beat one on one because it is an individual sport, but my coach taught us to attack and do moves after moves, he also said that wrestling is constant movement so one of my matches I was doing good just kept moving and focused on what I learned and the outcome was with a win. For Track my fear was not being able to beat the people I was racing, but my mentality was to try my best and run as fast as I can, I overcame that fear by one of our meets we had I was nervous but as soon as I ran I just kept pushing and I ended up having first place in the 200. The whole point of these other two stories is to let you know that there is no fear and that's what I believe so do not be afraid of something or someone that is trying to outwork you.
There is more to this other than sports like grades, family, life, for grades you should not have a fear of being good in school who cares if your friends do not think that is amazing just do you, you are the only person who sets your future no one else. For family do not be ashamed or afraid of them, they are the people who you should be yourself around them because most of the time they do not judge you for anything. Lastly, for our life you should never be afraid of the real world, it is understandable if you are because there is many obstacles you go through, but does not mean you can not be able to survive through them, you will not be anybody if you are afraid of getting a job, meeting your one and only, having kids etc. but the point is you will not have any of that if you do not do nothing about it just like this quote says “ There is no fear before and no fear after, we give our
best”
This affects me as a person because facing my fear and overcoming it is really hard to me because I usually don’t face my fear in person because I usually face my fear in dreams and I don’t like seeing it. I remember in the past when I got so mad and almost got into a rage mode which made me feel really bad in the inside. My sister got me really mad by doing something I told her not to do, but instead of myself getting really mad, I was able to handle my anger and not get really mad. I got really happy because I was able to overcome my fear of not getting really mad and not feeling really bad in the inside. A future fear is me not doing good in school or other sport activities. To me this is a big fear because when I do bad in swimming and school then I get in trouble by my parents but if I do good in swimming and school then my parents get proud of me. If I do good in swimming and school then it means I am overcoming my fear of my parents getting mad at
Fear is a feeling no one wants to admit they have. A young child, though, will say what they are afraid of, but as one gets older the more they want to be looked as a tough person. Zack Wamp puts it perfectly, no one should be scared or afraid to go into the future, but yet be intrigued into stepping into a new light of knowledge and learning. In Chinua Achebe's book Things Fall Apart he shows the Ibo people and their fear, superstition, response to fear and the British.
Change your response to the fear as you confront it. You can, for instance, learn to laugh at your fear. This is what comedian Kevin Hart learned to do, and he became
Having the capability and knowledge to overcome adversity with dignity and pride is another strength in which I am proud of myself for acquiring. In my senior year of high school, I was bullied on my soccer team. A group of my teammates and their parents did not like my father as their assistant coach. This group had tried everything they could to remove to my father from this position. When they realized that all of their attempts had failed, they had resorted to finding ways of upsetting my father by targeting my sister and myself. It came to our attention that during a week a practice, this particular group was evaluating my sister and I and were deciding on who would be the better “target” to bully. My sister was the soccer player who
First, there must be an understanding that there is a difference between normal fear and a phobia. The two are very similar, but they have a distinct characteristic and description that sets the two apart. A normal fear is a feeling that everyone can fear and something very simple and is not complex to the mind. A normal fear is related to any common and daily situations that can occur in one’s life. It is normal and helpful to feel fear in dangerous and nerve-racking situations; this experience is quite normal. Some examples of a situation like this can be waiting for a grade on a test you weren’t quite ready for, driving a car for the first time, or even taking part in a rough contact sport where you can get hurt. To humans, fear is something that is adaptive. Being adaptive, it is serving us to protect us. Being adaptive can be seen as a “fight-or-flight” response. This means tha...
I have participated in soccer, basketball, football, track & field, wrestling, and even taekwondo. Competing in all these sports developed me into a better athlete and enhanced my fundamental movement skills that are necessary for all sports. In addition, it gave me multiple perspectives that I might not have had otherwise. This improved my ability to be a teammate and instilled in me a more competitive nature. Although different sports brought different demands, the growth of confidence remained the same.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "We gain strength and courage and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face." This quote is seen in many examples of life, both fictional and non-fictional. For instance, one case of this quote is the story of Kyle Hargreaves, a boy with masklophobia, and how he learned to conquer it. While it is not known how he gained a fear of mascots, it is known for sure that he is deathly afraid of them. However, one day he had decided that enough was enough, and sought to vanquish his phobia. To do so, he played a basketball game with multiple mascots, and soon enough felt his fear slipping away. To illustrate, the article that focuses on Kyle’s story called “What are you Afraid of?” written
Phobias are real fears that most people encounter on a daily basis; but it is the over exaggerated reaction to the feared object or situation that distinguishes it from regular fears. Fear is a natural feeling, in which our minds tell us what is dangerous and to stay away from certain things. As stated by Dr. Ronald M. Rapee and et al in the Guide for Parents, “There is no such thing as an ‘abnormal fear.’ All fears are normal- some are simply more
Stated by psychologist, Dr. Vince Berger, fear is an in-built survival mechanism. A person is born only with two in-bornfears: the fear of falling and the fear of loud noise; the rest of a person’s fears are learned. Psychiatrist, Maxie Clarence Maultsby, introduced the concept of four fatal fears: the fear of failure, the fear of rejection, the fear of being wrong and the fear of being emotionally uncomfortable. Maultsby, along with other Psychiatrist, believe these ...
If you're scared of an outcome then you will not be able to move on in the future. Liesel was scared to talk to Ilsa in fear of a bad turnout. If you follow this basis it could hurt your future greatly. Another example could be if you're scared of wrecking your vehicle so you drive 5 miles an hour everywhere you go. On some roads you have a minimum speed limit like on most highways, if you aren’t traveling faster than the minimum speed limit you might receive a ticket. Being scared of an outcome can be a good thing or a bad thing you could be scared to rob a store because the outcome might be getting arrested. Looking back at my past, I haven't always went at some situations head on. I would say I've been passive in some moments of my life when I shouldn't have been. If you're scared of things you might not get things done when
I see them as building stones for example, my freshmen year I played my first ever varsity game. If only you could imagine how nervous I was, but today you would see a complete different person. I play a lot faster, I don’t make very many mistakes any longer. All because of anxiety I second thought myself and made mistakes. It also impaired my vision, like I would be playing against a person my size, but in my mind I felt like I was playing against a NFL player. Anxiety is a mean thing and it will stop many, but the ones that overcome it will always succeed.
Don’t let fear gain control. Sometimes society thinks of us as brave and as it sounds logical it might not be true. You might not consider yourself as brave. We let our fears over power us. We might tell other people that we aren't afraid of anything so that they think that we are the bravest person ever. Playing small doesn’t really serve the world you need to stop fear from growing. Know your darkness knowing what your fears are will help with all the confusion that you feel. It might be hard at first because you might not want to think about them but if you don’t they will control your life. Fear itself can convince us to never accomplish
Fear comes in many forms, there is fear of embarrassment, failure, and injury. These are the three main fears that keep people from achieving their dreams. I say go for it, if you want to do something don’t let fear get in your way. Follow your dreams, make them come true. If you spend your life living in fear, you won’t accomplish anything, because to achieve your highest goals you must take risks. For example there are some ...
On the other hand, being brave and being fearless are two different things. For instance, many people cliff jumping, speak publicly, enter tournaments, or having relationships not because they are fearless but because they are willing to overcome their fears. In other words, they are willing to go ahead despite the butterflies in their stomachs. For some people, this is a foreign concept that results them from not trying new things. However, others understand that to be brave is to ignore fear for a moment and just do it.
Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous or is a threat and is likely to cause pain. It is believed that everyone has fears in life or at least things or places that make us uncomfortable. There are hundreds of different types of fears and phobias. Common fears include the fear of death, the rear of the unknown, the fear of survival or unpredictability. Other fears could be the fear of ghosts, cockroaches, spiders, snakes and public speaking.
