Some things are easy to understand and describe. A butterfly is a butterfly and a rose is a rose after all. However, other concepts are more difficult to interpret. Love is one of these concepts. Trust is another. Then again, brave might be the most difficult word to unravel. How can we define brave?
Brave is a word that many people hold a common misconception about it. They believe that brave is the same thing as being without fear. On the other hand, being brave and being fearless are two different things. For instance, many people cliff jumping, speak publicly, enter tournaments, or having relationships not because they are fearless but because they are willing to overcome their fears. In other words, they are willing to go ahead despite the butterflies in their stomachs. For some people, this is a foreign concept that results them from not trying new things. However, others understand that to be brave is to ignore fear for a moment and just do it.
Furthermore, the word “courage” is similar in some ways to “brave”. People who are courageous and brave are those who have the guts to do something. On the other hand, these words have different meanings. It seems that a brave person who goes without giving thought to the risk. The lead character says that “selflessness and bravery aren’t all that different.” People also describes bravery as a burning candle. You sacrifice yourself for lighting others. In other words, bravery is when you put yourself in danger to help or protect another. Mothers are brave when they give up their sleep in order to comfort their babies.
