The essential aspect of the self-directed, intrinsically motivated, active learner is discipline. These types of learners can control themselves. They do not need an instructor to make the material exciting for them to learn it, and are able to persevere in spite of obstacles. They see themselves as responsible for their thoughts, attitudes and actions. They do not see themselves as victims of their circumstances, or teachers, instead they take control of their learning process, and set goals and plan how to fulfill those goals and stick to the plan. This includes being able to manage their time. Finally, the desire to learn is another important aspect of these kinds of learners.

These goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-sensitive. I will implement this plan by ensuring that any goals set match the SMART criteria. I will measure success by how many set goals I am able to complete. I will track this using a spreadsheet. I will hold myself accountable by telling someone my goals and asking them to check up on me.

I will implement this goal by fasting from food and drink every Monday for twelve hours for 3 months, fasting from technology for 2 hours every day for 31 days, praying for fifteen minutes every day before I begin my school work for a month, and reading a chapter of the New Testament everyday before going to sleep for 31 days.
