The teaching assistant will work together with the teacher to plan, evaluate and deliver learning activities for the children, in accordance to the curriculum / EYFS. The teaching assistant will have planned learning activities to carry out with the group of children which she/he will record their level of learning and will feed this information back to the teacher, the teaching assistant will inform the teacher which children were successful with the learning activity and which were not, also about the learning activity if activity was too challenging for children to achieve /not challenging/appropriate for the child to achieve the learning objective. Therefore the activity will be reviewed with both teacher and teaching assistant, and will then plan further learning activities which will again be evaluated then reviewed on each …show more content…
childrens progress. Therefore the teaching assistant will work closely with the teacher and contribute ways, ideas, methods to perhaps motivate- challenge and promote childrens learning. This process is called “ planning, teaching, evaluating. The teaching assistant will be included in planning meetings with other staff where they would plan – short term/medium planning whereby topics/ themes would be planned in accordance of the curriculum/EYFS, the teaching assistant can give ideas and suggestions for learning activities which may also be added into the plans, for example for literacy in the nursery teaching assistant may suggest writing each child’s name in dots for then the child to join the dots together and recognise their name. The teaching assistant would record this and then feedback to the teacher on how each child did. For numeracy – this this could be through the nursery theme ie “ goldilocks and the three bears”, counting the bowls, beds, bears with children to acknowledge their numeracy development- then for the teaching assistant to record and feedback to the teacher. After evaluating with the teacher to group the children to their abilities and then to extend their learning by giving them individual opportunities in numeracy activities. For ICT the teaching assistant may suggest for children to get to know the keyboard-numbers, letters for them to then proceed further, with problem solving skills, the teaching assistant could plan with the teacher giving children opportunities to independently solve such for nursery children- “ if we build with 10 bricks will it fall onto the wooden house”. Therefore the teaching assistant will be part of the planning, teaching, evaluating and reviewing of all learning activities for children in the class with the teacher. QUESTION 1B Evaluate own strengths and weaknesses in relation to supporting learning activities and how these may impact on the support that can be provided eg- you need to improve any of your skills to support learners development – if so what would you do and how would you do it.
As a teaching assistant in the nursery I would ask the teacher exactly what is required from me in delivering certain learning activities to the children, if I am unclear I would ask the teacher more information and ask if I could shadow a member of staff, so that I can feel more confident to deliver the learning activity, same regarding recording so that I know exactly what to record of each child’s participation to learning activities. I have strengths and weaknesses and this is common for a lot of teaching assistants, therefore my strengths are my interpersonal skills being bi –lingual and having 20 years of experience in working with young children, I am confident in literacy, problem solving, and ICT, in numeracy I am not as confident therefore I would enrol on a numeracy course to support myself and my personal development in learning, in that
area.
I being a teaching assistant needs to recognise the child or young adult is at the centre of the learning by treating everyone as an individual learner.
In my paper regarding strength assessments from the Rath’s Strengths Finder 2.00 (Rath) I learned how it can improve the development of my leadership. About a year ago I took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment (The Myers & Briggs Foundation); I was identified as an ENTJ and ENFJ (split personality). I recently took another assessment detailing with my style (Style Analysis). The strength finder 2.0 assessment defined my top five leadership strengths; the Myers Briggs defined my personality; and this new assessment defining my style behavior. These assessments are very valuable in knowing who I am as a leader. Leadership is about getting others to accomplish goals bigger than themselves. That requires motivation. Now that I understand more about myself and my leadership style, how can I use this knowledge to motivate and persuade others?
Lastly, it is important to develop clear training and supervision procedures that will guide teachers on the right steps to follow during training, supervision and evaluation of teachers’ aides. This will be important so that teachers are aware of the set of skills that their aides will need to be trained in as well as a number of set parameters that they will be evaluated on. Appropriate evaluation procedures that both the teachers and the paraeducators are aware of and agree to are essential in creating the right kind of relationship between the two as both parties are comfortable with these parameters and thus the evaluation process is carried out in a well understood manner.
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
Teachers have a significant role with the children; they are their leader in learning and development. Teachers have to plan effectively so the students will be able to learn and grow from the different activity’s this it why it is important that teacher take the responsibility and know the goals of the programs and their curriculum so they can plan accordingly. Establishing reciprocal relations with the parents of a child are important. Teacher should seek to know more about the families and their culture. With this information’s teachers are able to enhance the curriculum. Communication is the key when it comes to relationships with
Learning assistants come from a variety of departments, including math and science. They attend the class they are assigned to, along with their regular classes. Here, they act as a
In my professional behaviors paper I will be discussing my three strengths and weaknesses are. I will be writing, why I chose the behaviors. I will be supporting my choices by giving examples from my own life experiences. The three strengths that I picked were dependability, initiative, and empathy. The reason I chose these three was because they define who I am as a person today. The three weaknesses that I chose were cooperation, and stress management, and organization. I chose these as my weaknesses to explain what I have been dealing with since high school and they have affected my life.
I gave this paper a lot of thought before I began to write. ?What qualities and traits do I posses that make me desirable as an employee, a teammate, and as a person?? First, you must be able to identify your own personal strengths and weaknesses in order to become a lifelong learner and an essential part of a ?team?. As technology is constantly growing you have to be willing to accept what makes you an asset or a liability in any given situation you may encounter in your life. The qualities and traits that I feel make me a valuable entity to my employers, co-workers, classmates and within my personal relationships are varied. I will go on to describe some of the attributes I think are most important in establishing and maintaining successful relationships whether personal or work related.
This class added to my knowledge of working with children such as I usually pay attention and have active listening when children talk to me that also help me to meet children’s needs. I also feel more confident to speak up at
When it comes to my schoolwork, I tend to be extremely conscientious, diligent, and ambitious. A few of my academic strengths are my organizational skills and ability to think critically. A weakness that I have is test taking; while taking tests I become nervous, and forget the information. I become upset with myself if I earn a C on a test or in a class. Then I consider what I could have done differently to receive a higher grade and apply it to future assignments. I react this way when it comes to my studies, because my dad used to get upset with us if we received anything below a B in specific subjects. For example, if we got a C in math my dad would say, “You don’t know how to count? I guess I will stop giving you money since you cannot count it.” He would also reward us for being able to count and getting good grades. When I was a little girl, he used to put out money and give us 30 seconds to count it, if we counted
The purpose of early childhood education is to firstly learn about one’s self and agency, how one’s actions can affect and impact others; to develop a sense of identity; who you are and how you fit into this world. Experience a sense of belonging through interactions with peers and teachers whilst celebrating and sharing diverse cultures whilst embracing others. Children need to have opportunities to explore, experiment, to gain insight and knowledge in numeracy, literacy, science and social structure through innovative and richly supported curriculums (DEEWR, 2009). I have very high expectations of all children as I believe that this assists in building self-confidence and
An Administrative Assistant that may work in an educative environment (school) will basically deal with handling special administrative tasks, student and parent responsibilities or duties, as well as dealing with computerized tasks.
I am a hard-working, confident and conscientious and have a keen desire to be a primary school teacher. The main reason I want to pursue this vocation is because I love the prospect of working with children, being such an important part of a child’s life is a real honour. I have been fascinated at how quickly they learn things, gaining an insight into their perceptions and how they see the world, the idea of playing an active role in helping them develop, greatly appeals me. Having a long term goal of working with children, I believe I am particularly suited to a degree in Primary/Physical education. I gain huge satisfaction from being able to help them learn and discover new things about the world. Nurturing a child’s development is an occupation that offers huge satisfaction, both intellectual and emotional. My ambition is to be in charge of a classroom, to introduce ideas and skills to the class and observe and feel their response. The teacher’s skills of good communication, patience, clarity and the ability to explain the world are very demanding of one’s intelligence and one’s p...
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
The role and responsibilities of a teacher is very complex. Teachers are responsible for making sure their learners acquire the knowledge they need, but also achieve their qualification by the end of the course in a safe learning environment, so they have the skills and experience they need to start their careers. To achieve that goal a teacher must be creative, professional, flexible and knowledgeable enough to deal with daily challenges and find different ways to help their learners needs. Establishing a safe and stimulating environment for learners, creating mutual respect and set goals that stretch and challenge learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
