Donovan Bailey had the right idea to “follow your passion, be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and, above all, don’t let anyone limit your dreams.” This quote is significant to my life because it is a great motivational inspiration to follow. One thing people may know about me is my athleticism: I try my best to get what I want and to reach my goals. I take advantage of free time I have to work on things I can improve on inside the gym. Being a volleyball player, there is always someway to better your skill set; no person is ever perfect in the game of volleyball.

It is hard to be a great team if there is drama and conflict within it. Therefore, I had to fit in with the girls so we could be as good as the potential the team had physically. Mentality is everything in an athletic sport, or any other subject for that matter. There is a strong passion in my heart for volleyball, and the competitiveness I have helps me push towards my goals that much harder. As season began I knew my teammates extremely well and luckily we all got along and developed a bond that was nearly impossible to break. It was the most incredible feeling as we walked into the gym. I knew right then it was most-likely going to be the best day of my life, but that was no surprise! I remember it like it was yesterday, in the first match of the game, we were losing but we kept them on their toes and wouldn’t back off. We were up with a score of 24-22; my team couldn’t let the ball hit the ground on our side. This means we have to go for everything, because this is a really important game. My team and I wanted nothing more than to win. A ball was served to us and the libero on my team shanked the ball, which in volleyball means pass it badly. As a setter, who always takes the second hit and tries to “set” the ball for a teammate, I had to go for the play. I can flashback to the moment of my brain triggering my legs to sprint across the floor and reach the ball in time to get the point for my team. While running to get the ball, sweat drips from my eyebrow into my mouth. My teammates are all around me, waiting for me to get the ball up so they can hit it over the net.
