What television show character are you most like and why?
If I had to be a fictional character I would be Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec. Ron Swanson is the definition of what it means to be American. We both share common interests of meat, guns, and telling people the truth and nothing but the truth. Ron and I share a characteristic so powerful that it makes everyone (especially the ladies) go crazy… Our dashing good looks. Ron being this tall drink of water with a mustache that anybody in world would wanna take a ride on, and myself who is in the process of growing a mustache but looking like a 13 year boy who has one dark hair above my lip. However, what makes Ron Swanson such a great character is that deep down inside

I know what you are going to say high school hero yada yada but hear me out. If you took a look at my team you would have seen a bunch of skinny white kids who all were about 6 ft tall going up against guys who looked like they could grown men. During warm ups the other teams would be dunking and throwing it off the back board and we would be excited if someone touched the rim when they went up for a layup. If there is one thing that I have learned though is that doesn't matter how talented you are, if you can’t work as a team then you aren't going to be successful. Each game would come up and my team would step up to the mantle. We just kept winning and it wasn't until the championship game that I realized we actually had a really good shot of winning the whole thing. Now I played maybe a minute of the game ( I was what we like to call in the sport a benchwarmer), but seeing my teammates and best friends take the court and beat the hell out of our opponent was just an amazing feeling. Finally when the buzzer went off and we had won the game I just remember dog pilling in the center of the court and hearing all of our families cheering from the stands. Finally getting a went over to my dad who happen to be the coach of the team and gave him a big hug. He whispered in my ear how proud of me he was. Honestly
Once again, the next year, I was on the All-Star team. This time we were all determined to stay in the tournament and win the championship. We started off lousy, though, making four errors in the first game and losing 4-0. We now had to win every game and beat the last team twice. We did defeat every team we went up against, including the team that beat us the first game, and once again ended up in the championship game.
All I remember was all the girls on my team screaming and running towards me. Luckily, I was at the right place at the right time and headed the ball into the net. I scored the winning goal and it felt amazing. We won the championship!
It 's the day before my last high school varsity basketball game as a senior… Wow four years went by this fast who would have imagined this day would have came. All day I was thinking about the season ending. This game meant everything to me, it wasn 't any ordinary game. It 's a section game! Win or go home.. With it being my last high school game I wanted to close the chapter knowing I gave it my all. Practice was probably the most intense it 's ever been for me. Emotions were flaring and we were all on the grind.
Imagine going to a place that is peaceful and quiet. A place where no one can judge you. A place where money doesn’t matter. Christopher McCandless decided to go to Alaska. I believe that McCandless was brave and courageous for going to a remote place where he could be himself.
When I reached seventh grade, basketball took a different role in my life. I played on my junior high basketball team and absolutely loved it. From November to March, my life revolved around an orange ball. From seventh grade to eleventh grade, this was winter to me. I was a true student of the game, learning and improving constantly. I became fairly good, and even won some awards my eighth grade season. During my freshman year in high school, I once scored 29 points in a junior varsity game. When I stopped growing at 6’, however, it became fairly clear that there was no future in it for me as a player.
War is hell. This is the concept of war, however few experience it. Soldiers are molded by their experiences, they learn, conform, and revise. The War in Vietnam wasn't something that Lieutenant Jimmy Cross was prepared for. He day dreamed in order to disengage himself from his current situation. In the beginning of the story, Jimmy believed that Martha, his muse, was much more interesting than Vietnam. Eventually, when his man died sensibility replaces imagination. Jimmy, as a leader, is dejected, the realization that his lust for Martha and his duty to his men can not cohabitate, overcomes him. A major element at this time for Jimmy is repentance, to learn from his mistakes and cope with them. Ted Lavender's death in William Timothy O' Brien's
“The odds of a high school basketball player making it to the “next level” to play college basketball (DI, II, or III) is slim. In fact, only 3.4% of high school players go on to play college basketball. Taking it even further, only 1.2% of college basketball players go on to get drafted in the NBA” (Winters, 2016). There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. That is what coaches are looking for in a player, and that is the kind of player I am striving to be.
... The basketball team helped me adapt better to Great Neck North and it even landed me my dream girl because I was noticed by being on the team and having the game winning shot against Manhasset. When I go to visit Great Neck North, I always go straight to the gym to see our banner that says, “Division Champions- 2005.” Even though the banner is not in my possession, it still reminds me of our historic achievement. It allowed me to relive the success our basketball team achieved that year and laid a foundation for me to follow in high school.
I soon discovered that the girls on the “A” team were a close-knit group and were not exactly thrilled that a player from the “B” team was now playing with them. I had already learned that hard work leads to success, so I made it my business to win their respect. I went from riding the bench to becoming a starter. One of my coaches had a saying that still sticks with me. “Success breeds success” he used to tell us. He was right! My game became like a snowball rolling down a hill. The girls who had ignored me soon became my teammates in the truest
As the final whistle blew and the last of the crowd was leaving, me and my teammates cringed as we glanced up to see the final score. The other team celebrated with their friends and family as we went too our coach to get yelled at once again. This was the last game of the season and we finished winning a total of zero games, probably the worst record in E.L Wright middle school history. After listening to the last speech of the season from our head coach all of the players grabbed their bags and proceeded to the locker room. As we walked down the long dirt road towards our locker room we all looked at one another and surprisingly every single one of us had a big smile on our face.
My hands get clammy and emotions are running wild. When they call my team we all run out frantically and realize there's one last chance with this team, one last chance with this routine, some athletes final shot at the state championship! The lights gleam bright and it is time to do my job and put faith in my team to do the same. Two minutes and thirty seconds go by and that's the end of it all… walking off the mat knowing I did the best I can do and the rest is in the judge's hands. Sitting at awards, waiting desperately as they call each team third, second, and first place goes to Carrollton high school! The drop of my stomach and the tears that ran down my face. I was so shocked all the fame and victory made all the hard work worth
It took a group effort to get almost everyone home safely. There were only about ten characters throughout the whole book and almost all of them were Round characters. There were few settingings but the settings given were very descriptive. The book had lots of action in it so there were several high points in the plot. The book Avalanche showed many examples of perseverance and the dangers of an avalanche through characterization, setting, and theme.
Walter was depicted as an angry man with the dreams of being a rich man, but he did not need to be a rich man, just a happy man. One of Walter’s very first desires was to be a wealthy man. He confused the concept of being wealthy with wanting to be rich. Being a rich man is a man with money to spare every single hour of the day. To be a wealthy man is to have what he needs to live happily.
For this sociological exercise, I decided to binge watch the show Riverdale. Riverdale is a popular teen drama based on the characters of Archie Comics. The main character of the series is Archie Andrews. Archie is depicted as a real life superhero living in the body of an average teenager. He is a white male with bright red hair, very muscular and extremely attractive.
Everybody was happy and when they won we threw a big party for Kobe and ever since that I knew I wanted to be like him because he was hitting all these clutch shots. Because it was game seven and the lakers and celtics were just going back and forth winning games but Kobe was scoring so much and Derek Fisher was a sharpshooter in the last game it just seemed like he could not miss that is exactly what I wanted to do so I started to play basketball. It worked out but I have to stay in the gym and continue to work on all the things I been working on until I get to the point when I get in the game it is to easy for me to score and I have to focus on defense.
