This past Wednesday, I attended the Student Activities & Leadership Organization Fair in the Park Manor Quad. This was my second time hearing about the various clubs one could join at Babson, the first time being at Admitted Students Day back in April. This time around, I felt much more comfortable on the campus and made my way around the quad with a few friends as opposed to walking alone as I had done back in April. As I walked towards the Quad on Wednesday afternoon, I could hear the excitement and laughter of everyone that was there. I hadn’t expected so many people to show up for the event, but it really gave an insight to how involved my fellow classmates were in the community, or everyone was also given this same assignment. Eitherway, there was a lot of energy on the quad and this got my extremely excited for the year to come. I spent roughly about an hour …show more content…
Everyone around me seemed to be happy a wonderful time, so I think this year’s Organization Fair should definitely be deemed a success. I signed-up for 8 clubs, and stopped at over 10 more stations to learn more about the club being showcased. All of the students manning the table were quite passionate about their organizations and were able to provide me with lots of useful information as well as complimentary flyers and stickers. As for two clubs that I want to join, I am very interested in becoming a member of the Babson Men’s Club Soccer team as well as joining Delta Tau Delta. The club soccer team is appealing to me as I have played soccer for most of my life, and it would allow me to continue improving my skills and keep fit while not being as time consuming as a varsity commitment. I would have the opportunity to meet many new people in different years who are equally
During 2017, the fall of my senior year, we held elections for National Honor Society President. I was one of the members selected and later got elected into the position. This position has taught me the importance of quality leadership in order for the success of a program along with how to prioritize my time and stay organized while helping to engage members to enable them to be the best people they can be. Throughout my months as president, I have contributed experience, advice, and leadership alongside hours and hours of time put into an array of projects benefiting both the school and the community as a whole. Experiencing this event which has influenced both my leadership and service to my community has influenced my future plans through
Clubs were a great way for me to expand my interests outside of athletics. I was involved in Key Club and FCA freshman year and I enjoyed meeting new people and making a difference in our community. I was inducted a member of NHS junior year and this was a great way to make service a priority.
As the lights flashed and the representatives walked down the red carpet the audience was awed by the sweet smiles and mature beauty that radiated off the couples. They respectfully encapsulated the love and Christian faith of our school as they all clapped for our homecoming king and queen. There surely was a reason they were voted representatives for they showcased sweet attitudes all night long, smiling, hugging, and enduring long periods of picture taking and never complaining. After the red carpet showing of our homecoming court everyone enjoyed delicious fruit punch and a couple slices of the cake all while talking and simply enjoying the beautiful decorations and hollywood themed atmosphere. When the mood shifted and Winter Formal began
As a commuter to McDaniel College, I don’t spend much time on campus outside of classes. Therefore, the relevance of after school activities doesn’t apply to me as much. Keeping current with events happening on campus grounds, is often a daunting task. However in the spirit of class participation, I decided to create awareness that fall break is upon us.
Next year, as I embark my first year at university, I hope to fully integrate myself into the community by getting involved in the Students' Union, joining the cheer team, volunteering where I can and making many new friends along the way. At university, I hope to maintain a high grade point average, granted that my education is extremely important to me and that I am extremely ambitious about achieving my goals. Therefore, I will commit lots of my time to my studies in hopes of being a successful student. Nevertheless, I am still looking forward to being a part of the community by devoting my extra time to helping those around me. In classes, I intend on being an active learner, a respectful student, and a helpful classmate; someone who is always willing to lend a hand to others. Through engaging in my community, I hope to bring joy to others around me by spending my time supporting local events, volunteering for fundraisers, and helping plan and organize campus activities.
For my Cultural Plunge, I participated with Project Excell (Extending College Education for Lifelong Learning). This is a group that meets on campus, in the union, every Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 AM. Each participant has a developmental disability and they come from various places around Manhattan. Project Excell offers around 4 different classes for the participants to choose from, which range from dancing/theatre to the history of Nigeria. After completing a “session,” the participants go through a graduation ceremony and then begin a different type of class for the next few weeks. I joined this group as a student ambassador, who assists the classroom teachers while building relationships with and tending to the needs of the participants.
With the help of the Me To We team at Queen Street Public School, I volunteered at a local food bank. The experience was quite educational and fascinating. We encouraged staff and students to donate non-perishable food items for the "We Scare Hunger" campaign. This was definitely a highlight of my grade five year because I felt very humble and warm-hearted by doing a simple act of kindness. In addition, I was chosen to participate in the "Intergenerational" program. This was created so that grade five students can learn more from the elders of the Burton Manor senior home. We had the privilege to learn about their history and interact with them through several educational and fun activities. If accepted, I will indeed join several clubs and teams to contribute my time and talents to make the school an exciting learning
In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. I feel that club and after school activities can make a person more involved and give a person the right qualities to become a leader. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures that college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups.
This year, I had the privilege of chairing our Evaluation Speech Contest. I also helped organize our club open house, where I served as the food committee chairperson; and I helped to promote our special event, “Still I Rise! A Recognition Ceremony,” which also was designed to attract new members.
Now, our Student Government activities are done together with pride. We are so happy that we both got in, and that we can talk freely about what we have to do or what we have already done. Because this was previously planned, we have the freedom to enjoy this year as a team and as friends instead of jealous peer. I owe all my thanks and the memories I will have of this year to Jesus because of the perfect plan he had, and still has, for Tiffani and me.
Class of 2012, as we sit here this evening, I would like you to take a look at the classmates sitting around you. Many students have given countless hours of time, energy, and passion to worthy cuases that they have been a part of throughout high school. However, those aren't the only students deserving of recognition this evening. We have students here tonight, who have taken a stand for what they believe in, not even hesitating to compromise their reputations.
At the end of every spring semester, IUPUI hosts what is called the Jagapalooza. It is described as the end of the year spring celebration for all students. The event will take place on Friday, April 29th in Taylor Courtyard. There are ways to sign up to be on the planning committee for this event by submitting an application. The Jagapalooza will include fun games, activities, and live entertainment. I plan to talk to the director of this traditional event, Jared Owen, as well as the Week of Events Coordinator, Andria Martinez. I want to express in my writing how exciting this event
Events can go from business tours to meeting any employers to learn about any career opportunities. Ever since the dawn of time, being apart of the community at school is something that I do not really participate in. Although I find involvement within the community interesting, I feel like I am limiting myself from something I could grow from. I know that I am missing out on a crucial part of learning and that is what I regret.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
Over the course of this semester I had the great pleasure of volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of Story County in Ames, Iowa. Throughout my time, I was able to learn about the organization and its services while interacting with the children and staff during its afterschool program. Well over 30 kids from kindergarten to middle school attend the Boys and Girls Club and I had the privilege of forming special friendships with a few of the girls. Most of my time spent was playing board games and table games, such as pool and air hockey. I also assisted the organization with their upcoming fundraising gala event in February by assembling letters to be sent in the mail.
