My intended goal after graduating from high school in just a couple of months is to be enrolled at Santa Ana community college where I will be taking my general education classes, and enlisting into a nursing program in order to obtain my associates degree in nursing. After completing these course I plan to transfer to Cal State Fullerton, where I will obtain my Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, to complete the requirements need to major as a Registered Nurse. Winning this scholarship will allow me to peruse my dreams in a way that it makes it easier for me and my family to pay the debt that will be included. I am the oldest out of five and I know that having to pay for my education and needs will be tough, therefore if I win the scholarship I will be able to help them out, winning the scholarship will allow me to be an example for my younger siblings as I will be the very first person in my family to go to college. I learned how to take responsibility at a very young age, when both of my parts had to go to work I would have to babysit my siblings on weekends, and take them to the babysitter on weekdays before I left for school. I had to do this for a long time, that I soon became a mother figure for them. However I would have liked to have spent my childhood differently, playing with friends, and going to the movies like all other kids my age did, but I look back to everything I had to go through that there’s time in which I glad to have had grown up so fast because I learned how to value the many things in life that others teenagers like me don’t have. I grew up the best parents I could have possibly asked for and I became the person I am
When I am older I would love to be a Nurse Practitioner, I enjoy helping people when they are sick and taking care of them. Another reason I want to be a Nurse Practitioner is because my sister is also a Nurse Practitioner.

Scholarship, leadership, character, and service are four attributes that define an excellent student. Being in high school, it’s difficult at times to be a leader, show your character, and be involved with voluntary services while being focused on scholarship, but I have managed to do all four numerous times. I am so grateful and excited to have the chance to be a part of the National Honors Society.
Licensed practical nurses (LPN 's) fill an important role in modern health care practices. Their primary job duty is to provide routine care, observe patients’ health, assist doctors and registered nurses, and communicate instructions to patients regarding medication, home-based care, and preventative lifestyle changes (Hill). A Licensed Practical Nurse has various of roles that they have to manage on a day to day basis, such as being an advocate for their patients, an educator, being a counselor, a consultant, researcher, collaborator, and even a manager depending on what kind of work exactly that you do and where. It is the nursing process and critical thinking that separate the LPN from the unlicensed assistive personnel. Judgments are based
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
When I started nursing school, I began to learn of the same disease processes I had heard sitting at the bedside of family members. It was then that I realized the role that education and appropriate management play in preventing complications and the difference those tools could have made for my family. As a first-generation child of a afghan immigrant and without a education, my family did not have access to those tools. Within our community, there was no emphasis on health promotion or education. However, I see this not as an obstacle but an opportunity for change: with the training from the Family Nurse Practitioner program, I can educate other families on how to live a longer and healthier life.
Scholarship is not the only pillar that I have achieved. I also possess Leadership, Character, and Service that make me a well rounded individual. Leadership is one of the qualities that I have strengthened over the years because I have put myself out there and gotten involved in a variety of things. I have also developed my character over the years I have been in high school. Lastly, I put myself out there because one person can help to change the world that we live in. Developing myself as a person over the past few years has helped me move forward to satisfy the other three pillars.
Ever since I have been little I’ve always been intrigued by doctors. Many children at my age would be scared of doctors, but I’ve always loved them as long as I was not getting a shot, then I was a crying mess. I remember one of my appointments that I had as a kid, the doctor who I later found out was a pediatrician, was one of the nicest people I had ever met. At the time, I only knew her as a doctor but even at a very small age, she influenced me in a way which has affected my career-oriented decisions to this day. I am Nishi Natalia and as a senior in high school, I was looking forward to being in this program to figure out which career in healthcare was best for me. After spending two weeks shadowing various departments I found that I enjoyed being around small children. So when it came time to pick the department we wanted to be in for the second half of the program I picked the Pediatric Department. I’m here to tell you today about my experience in this department and how it has affected my goals for the future.
Nursing excellence is defined in various ways. I believe that nursing excellence is demonstrated when nurses are involved in promoting holistic patient centered care, quality and innovation, education, evidence-based practice, and nursing research. Nursing organizations plays a pivotal role in promoting nursing excellence. For this discussion post, I will be discussing the role of two organizations; the National League of Nursing (NLN) and the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN), in promoting nursing excellence and nursing practice.
Since I was in grade school I’ve always wanted to have a profession in which I felt that I could help others. That coupled with my love of science and particularly of biology led me to the conclusion that I should search for a career in the medical field. Like any other child I thought the way to accomplish this was to become a doctor, but as I got older I realized that, while the doctors play a pertinent and invaluable role in the medical field, nurses create the backbone of patient care. With the changing healthcare system, advancements in medical technology, and an aging population, I want to be part of the solution to many of the problems that are sure to arise. I want to be part of the team that makes sure patients receive not only the quantity of attention and care they need, but also the quality.
According to the American Nurses Association, nursing is defined as “the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, facilitation of healing, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations” (American Nurses Association, 2016). Nurses have many jobs and responsibilities and wear many different hats. Nurses can perform at many different levels depending on their scope of practice which is defined by the board of nursing in one’s state of residence. It is important as nurses to understand and follow
I wanted to reach out and message you as someone who has fought extremely hard for this wonderful and amazing opportunity of pursuing my dream. I felt I should write to you voicing my concerns and opinion about how these first 5-weeks in nursing school are going. I want to let you know how “ I “ feel the GCU nursing program in Albuquerque is running and what I have heard from upper level students and students in my current cohert are feeling.
My interest in nursing began at age 18 at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut where I was trained as a Certified Care Partner, then as a Phlebotomist, followed by a two year surgical floor assignment and a one year burn unit stint.
There are many steps to take to become a nurse, but depending on what field you are in is what decides how many steps that you must take. Another benefit with becoming a nurse is the many degrees to choose from; however, if a higher degree is wanted then that just means that the education also must be higher. There can also be some downsides of becoming a nurse; consequently, the higher you want your job level to be, then the higher your education has to be which means that you need to join a program for the level of education you want to be in.
