Ever since I have been little I’ve always been intrigued by doctors. Many children at my age would be scared of doctors, but I’ve always loved them as long as I was not getting a shot, then I was a crying mess. I remember one of my appointments that I had as a kid, the doctor who I later found out was a pediatrician, was one of the nicest people I had ever met. At the time, I only knew her as a doctor but even at a very small age, she influenced me in a way which has affected my career-oriented decisions to this day. I am Nishi Natalia and as a senior in high school, I was looking forward to being in this program to figure out which career in healthcare was best for me. After spending two weeks shadowing various departments I found that I enjoyed being around small children. So when it came time to pick the department we wanted to be in for the second half of the program I picked the Pediatric Department. They handle a large variety of cases with extreme patience and care and each nurse devotes their time and patience to each patient. I was lucky to been given the chance to observe many of the Registered Pediatric Nurses and see what it takes to be a part of this profession. There are many career options from being a Registered Nurse, a Certified Nurse to a Physician. The career I will be focusing on today is the Registered Nurse. Some of the mentors I had during the second half included Tracy, Jennifer, Melissa and many others. Each one of these amazing nurses took a lot of their time to get me familiar with the floor and explain the different types of cases to me that they were handling. Although theses nurses are really well trained at their profession, it took them a lot of time and education to achieve their titled
