Creating a plan of action for developing a teaching tool is similar to creating a nursing care plan. Many of the steps for each are the same. After a teaching opportunity is recognized, the first step in the action plan is to gain the support of stakeholders. This is considered the assessment phase. For my project, meeting with the unit manager, associate director, and nursing staff allows for discovering multiple viewpoints and gaining insight into potential problems or resources.
The planning phase consists of gathering information. Researching articles, reading about completed studies, and finding statistics that support the teaching tool. For this project, looking for current peer-reviewed articles and reviewing the CDC’s website
to find state and national statistics will help me see how relevant the teaching tool will be. Finding examples of other teaching sheets on the same subject may highlight aspects of content that are not being considered. Creating a timeline is also part of the planning phase. This should be discussed with the other stakeholders of the unit. The timeline should be adequate enough to carry out the project and still fit within the parameters of the allotted time period. It may be helpful to pick a date for implementation and then work backward, filling in dates for the smaller goals of the project, giving enough time to compensate for unanticipated delays. It is also important to communicate project deadlines and goals to the preceptor. Creating and implementing the teaching sheet is the last step. Essential aspects include identifying key points to be presented, writing a rough draft, submitting the tool to my preceptor to check for accuracy and relevance, editing multiple times as needed, onboarding staff, and utilizing the final draft to teach patients. Although maybe not a part of implementation, evaluation of the tool is also crucial. Have outcomes changed? Was the original goal met? Has patient knowledge improved? Are fewer calls coming in regarding elevated blood glucose (Cornett, Neal, & Ordelt, n.d.)?
This model is based on the book, Instructional Rounds in Education. This philosophy is rooted in the way medical students perform their rounds in a hospital and applied to the education setting. After the walkthroughs are completed, the administrative team meets to discuss, debrief and make constructive recommendations to the leader of the school. I was able to experience
Step 3 is defining the evaluation objective, which is “a general statement that conveys the purpose of the planned study in precise terms” (DiClemente et al., 2013, pp. 300). Goals are more manageable when evaluation objectives are precise and contain applicable information. This ensures that the e...
There a three main stages to assessment the start of a course when Initial and diagnostic assessments should take place these methods are used to identify the learners suitability learning levels and learning needs for their chosen course. The second stage would be the middle of the course where I would want to use continuous assessment methods such as peer assessment and self assessment too ensure that the learners are making the correct progress, all of these methods have formative assessment roles that allow the learner to improve whilst learning. Finally there would be a final assessment this could be a written exam end of module test or performi...
It consisted of a time schedule detailing my plans in order of what I was going to do that day. I wrote a rough action plan of what I wanted to do for the practical performance before I had met up with my model. After meeting her and taking test cuttings of her hair, it was clear that I would need to carry out a colour correction and therefore change my action plan. I also made small changes to how I planned to do my adaptation and so I applied this to the action plan too. Once I had made the changes, I had greater clarity and understanding of exactly what I was going to do and the amount of time I had to do it. I followed my action exactly as I had written it and this allowed me to manage my time effectively and even finish earlier than expected. I consider my action plan as being of great benefit to me as it prevented me from straying from my plans and therefore avoiding any failings during the practical performance. I felt my action plan helped me to feel calm in a situation where I might have felt under pressure due to time constraints. Knowing what I was going to do and how long I had to do it, gave me sufficient control and I could therefore project manage the practical performance of the Graded Unit. I find that the action plan is a great way to help me analyze how well I could project manage and carry out the practical performance as I can review the plans that I made and if I followed them and stayed on schedule or whether I needed to make any changes. If changes were to be made on the day, the action plan would have helped me to stay calm by listing everything I wanted to achieve without forgetting
In an evidence based research, evaluation plan is very important. Evaluation is a systematic approach to assess the information, data or statistics collected through a research on a specific problem. Nurses should always practice evidence based approach and collect data so these can be compared with other studies done on this specific topic.
To begin with, this paper intends to discuss two different nursing case scenarios. The first scenario is related to an emergency department and its nurse manager dealing with powerless situations and how to solve them, whereas the second scenario is related to policy making and governance models. The purpose of this paper is to provide in depth responses to the scenarios, and explore different ways of how we can make nursing management a little bit better. As nurses, many different situations can come our way, so we should be prepared to face them and solve them. In order to become effective leaders, we have to learn how to manage these difficult moments that can affect us on a daily basis. Once again, this paper will lead us to overcome
This is a great opportunity for students to evaluate themselves and acknowledge their weaknesses and strengths. This paper will discuss my success plan in nursing program.

From repairing broken bones to saving lives every day. A panicking mother that was scared for her child’s life, the child feels off the roof and crashed onto the car. Worried mother was scared to know the result of the child. As the mother rushed into the hospital all these nurses in addition, doctors rush to the child to see what he needed to do. These nurses are doing anything in their power to save this innocent child from dying. Register nurses are in this world because almost everyone in the world is injured or they are on the edge of dying.
One of the main focuses for the CDC is disease prevention and healthy living. Educational information is listed by disease, age group, and population, and is user friendly. For each disease there are suggested interventions and lifestyle changes, statistical data, and peer reviewed research articles available. The CDC has a
In conclusion, I would say that teaching plan is a vital component of the nursing process. In order to promote patient learning, it is valuable to have a good teaching plan in mind.
Above all, the key component of nursing is caring, even though everyone has a different conception of caring. Caring can make or break the communication between individuals or even result in the therapeutic relationship being absent. Not to mention, without a therapeutic relationship caring would not exist and result in a poor experience for that patient. If a patient does not feel cared for by the nurse, then the patient will not want to open and discuss their health concerns. Understanding the basics of caring and being aware of how to demonstrate it, will ensure that the patient's needs are being met. Significantly, there are guidelines and standards that are put into place to help nurses build a therapeutic relationship
“A number of barriers prevent nurses from being able to respond effectively to rapidly changing health care settings and an evolving health care system” (Institute of Medicine [IOM], Report Brief, 2010, p. 1). In order to understand the capabilities and limitations of today’s nursing profession, the Institute of Medicine appointed ‘The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)’ to conduct a 2-year study to compel recommendations for nursing practices. “The future of Nursing: Leading Change Advancing Health” published in October 2010, included eight recommendations for advancing the nursing profession (IOM, Report Recommendations, 2010, p. 1). These recommendations encompassed four major key messages to improve nursing education,
. Most of my career has been in community nursing providing care in the patient’s home. This opportunity has allowed me to be a teacher and encourage health promotion. This can be very challenging due to issues with literacy and the patient’s readiness for change. This course has exposed me to the many different learning theories that have been developed and how to effectively assess the in order to develop and implement an effective teaching plan. Teaching strategies and plans must be specific to the learner and barriers need to be identified early so they can be overcome to promote better outcomes
Educational action research can be engaged in by a single teacher, by a group of colleagues who share an interest in a common problem, or by the entire faculty of a school. Whatever the scenario, action research always involves the same seven-step process. These seven steps, which become an endless cycle for the inquiring teacher, are the following:
