My Writing

Often the only way to take your mind off the real world is to write stories. When I write I always write something that is way worse than what is happening in my life to prove to myself that it could get worse. I have always enjoyed reading other people’s written work; I try to imagine what their mindset was when they were writing it. I believe that in some cases people who write are, able to create a whole dimension, where the possibilities are endless as to what that world stands for. Everyone has their own reasons to write, to imagine a world different than the one they live in. My reason is to escape my problems in the real world and enjoy the chance of living in my imagination. Writing is a way to tell a story without having to speak. I have realized that writing is a gift of artistic skills. Many who are asked what they first think of when they hear the word art, say things like “painting” or “drawing”, but what many people don’t realize is that writing is also an art. Although it is a different kind of art, one that uses the imagination for a broader spectrum than of what meets the eye. The definition of art is not limited to pictures that are drawn or painted, but is expanded to imagery created by words. Therefore, authors are just as artistic as artists themselves. At times, I find that I am, able to see much more vividly detailed images with written words than I am with actual physical pictures. For example, when I write I clear my mind to focus on where the story will go from one point to the next; letting my imagination pour into the page. Life is a series of choices, leading us to look back in time and wonder what life could have been like if we had chosen differently. With writing, that is exactly what can be accomplished; creating a world where choices are made differently and the possibilities are endless. Reality is, we are unable to go back in time and change the decisions made, but with writing, reality doesn’t exist and the choices made in stories have the possibilities to be altered. When I was younger I enjoyed writing because it gave me an escape to a more fascinating world in contrast to the real world. The places and people I was able, to fabricate with the tip of my pencil or the tapping of keys was truly incredible. I have grown since then, but my fascination with writing has not
