In Maya Angelou’s story “Graduation” in Fields of Reading she teaches us about racism in the south in the 1940’s.
Angelou writes about how schools in the south were segregated. Black students were deprived of resources to enable students to learn. While schools were endowed with all the resources needed for a prominent education.
They were going to have the newest microscopes and chemistry equipment for their laboratory.1
Not only does Maya Angelou write about lack of resources in the black schools she also writes that even after
“I write because I love. I write for the survival of self, my children, my family, my community and for the Earth. I write to help keep our stories, our truths, our language alive”. (qtd. in Anthology 396.)

Writing is a type of art because it requires you to think and be creative in the way you want it to be. I have a diary that I wrote almost everyday. They help me think about my day and sometimes turn my bad day into a good day. I write whatever comes into my head at that moment, and reflect on my day. Writing make me think deeper to what happen and help me turn my negative thought to positive. Writing is a very powerful tool. When I write, I have the power to change the story. I am the author of my own story so I can be as creative as I want.

On the 22nd of November 1963, the 35th president of the United States of America, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with the crime, but was shot and killed two days later by Jack Ruby before he could be taken to trial. The Warren Commission officially determined that Oswald was the lone assassin, however, this conclusion has not been accepted by many. In fact, a 2003 poll reported that 75% of Americans do not believe that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. Most believe that the assassination was the result of a conspiracy, though these same polls also show that there is no agreement on who else might have been involved. Most put forward the idea of involved parties such as Castro supporters, the Mafia, and the U.S Government.
There are many aspects for my mind to conceive while reading the articles why I write by George Orwell and Joan Didion. There are many different factors in triggering an author’s imagination to come up with what they want to write, and why they want to write it. In most writings a purpose is not found before the writer writes, but often found after they decide to start writing.
Clinically, Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by the accumulation of beta-amyloid plaque between living neurons in the brain (Sabbagh, 2008). This results in an excessive calcium influx inside the neurons and the breakdown of a protein called tau. Normally, the rol...
A monumental date in United States history, November 22, 1963, proved to be a day that would cause debate among generations. It was on that day that the thirty-fifth President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. It was a tragic event that stunned both the nation and many across the world. It was an event that has produced controversy among common people and experts alike. The main debate is who killed the President of the United States and there are countless theories suggesting many people were involved with the assassination of the President. However, the facts surrounding this tragic event support Oswald committed this act alone. For instance, if Oswald was supposed to be part of a conspiracy with the sole purpose to assassinate the President of the United States and his role was to take the shot, the conspirators would have provided him with a state-of-the-art gun instead of the inexpensive World War II vintage mail-order gun that was actually used. On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.
...arly, they all perceive writing as a way to escape from reality, as well as a way to express themselves, their dreams, and wishes.
Why would humans choose to become writers? Simple. They have ideas that flow in their mind that they want to express to others through books. That book that the author wrote, expresses him as a person. Ray Bradbury wrote books because he had ideas. He had thoughts that he wanted to share. It’s difficult to be a writer. You spend days and nights writing constantly to please your audience. A few ideas come smoothly, others not so much. It can take up to days, months, and even years to write one book and when it does great, more than likely the author will write a sequel.
There are a lot of things that people do to relieve pain, stress and emotions, one of them being writing. Simply writing down their thoughts can be relieving to them and a healthy way to let out anything that they might not want to tell others. Things that influence a person’s writing varies from emotions and their personal experiences. However, these experiences can be hard for some people, which can result in a huge conflict in their writing. Although, sometimes it has a negative connotation, many times it does not necessarily mean that it changes a person 's perspective. Often people learn good things from bad experiences, to prevent others from happening to them as said by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in her story “The Yellow Wallpaper” or

Researchers agree that Alzheimer’s Disease is m...

There are many laws that protect people from sexual harassment and provide them with information about what to do if you should ever be in this situation (Wyatt, 2000).
